Simi Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 He wins games at the end of the day, in this division anyway, although they are very boring. There was interest before we appointed Allen, but I doubt that interest will be renewed.
Koke Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 I like Billy Davies but I think the very least he'll do is to see the season out with Derby.
BigGibbo Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Heard from a very good source that there is un-rest at Derby with Davies and how he's spent his money. Davies was aproached pre-Derby promotion/Allens appointment. Could this be our next manager?????? less than a week ago he signed a contract until 2010
MPH Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 good old bbc gossip section. Peter Reid is favourite to be the new Leicester manager, and Glenn Roeder has been interviewed as a potential director of football (News of the World).
davieG Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 My interview is on Tuesday MM's only looking for erudite applicants, you may have passed the written test but when he hears you speak
bigjonnyauk Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 alright guys what about kevin keegan he knows the market is use to managing big name players plays attacking football the only prob is when it gets to much for him he runs away but this wont be a prob as milan will sack him before then
Cheese Me Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Don't really want Reid but would certainly prefer him to Warnock. I doubt I could forgive Milan for that. Surely Paul Jewell is the one though?
Cheese Me Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 BTW, before the abuse stats flying - that's only because I REALLY don't want Warnock or Megson and given all my anger and disappointment this week I'd settle for almost anyone else to avoid either of those outcomes (as I'm really worried it will one of them).
davieG Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 N.O.W YOU'RE THAN MAN, REID By Graham Nickless PETER REID is favourite to land the Leicester job after Milan Mandaric was snubbed by Paul Jewell and Neil Warnock. The Foxes owner wants an experienced manager after sacking former MK Dons chief Martin Allen after just five matches. And Reid, who twice led Sunderland to promotion to the Premiership during his seven-year reign with the Black Cats, fits the bill Sacked Ex-West Brom boss Gary Megson and Plymouth manager Ian Holloway are also on Mandaric's short-list. And former Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder has been interviewed for a director of football role at the club. Sport of the World can reveal that Jewell and Warnock were first approached by Mandaric's people days BEFORE Allen was sacked last week. But former Wigan chief Jewell and ex-Sheffield United boss Warnock spurned the club's advances whilst Allen was still in work. Mandaric and Allen fell out over the aborted signing of ex-Chelsea star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink after the Leicester chief had set up a deal. Exposed exclusively told last Sunday that Allen faced the axe within days after a series of rows with the controversial Mandaric. Allen's backroom staff and players were talking about their manager's impending departure before the abandoned Carling Cup tie with Forest. But Allen was only told officially the morning after the cup clash which saw new loan player Clive Clarke suffer two heart attacks at half-time. Reid, who also managed Leeds, Manchester City and Coventry, has already told Mandaric that he wants Adrian Heath as his No2.
Mort Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 It'll be Reid, of that I'm increasingly convinced... there is very little out there in terms of potentially useful managers who are out of work, but if Jewell's turned it down (and IIRC he said he was interested in a season out of work, so it's not a surprise that he'd turn us down) then Reid isn't the worst we could have and his record in this division is respectable wit the exception of Cov, even if his prem record is unspectacular.
Kent Fox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Apparently MM did not hire Warnock because of the huge amount of letters and emails sent to him from fans venting their disgust at the thought. Maybe we should all agree on one manager (Jewell) and email MM and tell him that if he wants unity in the ranks, hire who WE want. And stop sacking the ones we want!! Anyone up for a bandwagon??
Mickey O'Neil Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 I really want Jewell...that's not gonna happen. If it's Reid, willy puller Warnock or God forbid, Megson, then I'll console myself in knowing that they won't be in charge when we're in the Premier League!! Whoever it is, will still get my support when they are appointed. (Through thick and thin and all that....!)
Matt Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Apparently MM did not hire Warnock because of the huge amount of letters and emails sent to him from fans venting their disgust at the thought.Maybe we should all agree on one manager (Jewell) and email MM and tell him that if he wants unity in the ranks, hire who WE want. And stop sacking the ones we want!! Anyone up for a bandwagon?? Plenty of people e-mailed him saying do not sack Allen, he just did what HE wanted though. I mean the way of looking at it is if we're disappointed it's lickly Milan will be disappointed, Milan isn't a Leicester fan but if Leicester ain't doing well he ain't earning money.
Chambo7 Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 The ugliest rumour of all. Reid in running for Leicester post after Allen is sacked I realy hope this doesnt come true
Milky Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 All these Reid rumours have just come from three cov fans having a laugh and texting in to the bbc transer rumour section.
Phlashman Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 What's wrong with Reid? He did very well at Sunderland and at Leeds and Covscum he had to deal in frees.
Geo V Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 We have to be realistic and see whats actually available and there isn't that much from what I can see. Its obvious that MM wont be going for the young manager and the likes of Keegan doesn't want to return to management, Jewell is seemingly in no rush to return to the game yet and after that you have some experienced and unemployed managers. Reid wouldn't be a total disaster as he knows the division well and actually built a good Sunderland side once. Like most of the old donkeys linked to us they all had success at this level which isnt a bad thing. Boring as fook yes, especially the likes of Megson, moaners yes, especially warnock but at the very least they are all winners at this level. One thing though, in this country, we seem to dismiss a manager as past his sell-by-date when he hits about 45 and totally forget about his history and knowledge within the game. Unfortunately, we only remember there last jobs which are usually shockers as if they weren't they`d still be employed. It doesn't mean that they become shite managers over night. Wortho showed at times, especially against Brum and with an absolutely shocking squad what can be achieved. If we do end up with a non sexy football style of manager like a Vialli or Gullit which Im 99% certain we wont be, lets not forget these old stagers are capable of doing a decent job at this level with the types of players we have.
surrifox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Worn cock is in line to replace taylor who will be sacked by palace according to the papers
Brainy Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Whoever it is, we need to get behind him. When managers like Peter Reid are linked I see most of you moaning and saying you won't be going to any games whilst that "monkey face" is in charge. If thats the case, don't go.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Whoever it is, we need to get behind him. When managers like Peter Reid are linked I see most of you moaning and saying you won't be going to any games whilst that "monkey face" is in charge. If thats the case, don't go. It's alright for you saying that, being able to make a choice. I can't get to the stadium anyway, I live in Birmingham and I don't know how to get from the railway station to the ground.
