Malinki Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 Jewell is without a doubt the outstanding candidate, he worked wonders at Bradford and Wigan but I wonder if his personality would also upset Mr Manderic. I don't want Roeder or Warnock anywhere near our club. I'm still holding out slight hope for this football genius especially if he can persuade hulio geordio to sign for us
Moreton Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 i would like to see either jewel or warnock get the job IMO or if the unthinkable happened Martin allen coming back...
MPH Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 sorry if this has been posted before- story in the mercury: JEWELL TIPPED FOR CITY JOB 11 readers have commented on this story. Click here to read their views. 12:53 - 30 August 2007 Paul Jewell today headed the contenders for the vacant Leicester City job. The 42-year-old is rated the 5-2 favourite for the job by national on-line bookies bet365 following the shock departure of Martin Allen. Jewell steered Wigan Athletic from the third tier of English football into the Premiership in six years - and is available. Also ranked among the short-priced contenders to be Milan Mandaric's fourth manager in seven months are ex-Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock at 4-1, and former West Brom boss Gary Megson and Chelsea reserve-team coach Brendan Rodgers, who are both priced at 13-2. Bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth said: "Paul Jewell would be a fantastic appointment for Leicester City. "He's itching to get back into the game, and Leicester are a big club with a massive fan base. He might have a few quid to spend too! But it might be whether he'd fancy it." Jewell, who has also managed Bradford City and Sheffield Wednesday, has been out of the game since resigning from Wigan the day after preserving their top-flight status in May. After appointing Allen in May, Mandaric said that he had interviewed 10 candidates for the job, including Warnock. He said he respected Warnock's record as a manager but received so many negative letters and emails from City fans that the strength of Blue Army opinion put him off Warnock. "I could have gone for a bigger name and got more headlines," he said at the time. "But would they have wanted the job as much as Martin Allen?'' Also in the betting are former West Ham and Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder at 8-1, and ex-City favourite Simon Grayson (10-1), whose Blackpool side beat City on the opening day of the season. Also 10-1 is as ex-Coventry boss Peter Reid. Others include Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood (14-1), MK Dons manager Paul Ince (16-1) and Bristol City's Gary Johnson (20-1). For those who fancy an outsider, bet365 are quoting Harry Redknapp, whom Mandaric twice had as his manager at Portsmouth, at 50-1, alongside former Walsall boss Paul Merson, the ex-England and Arsenal star. Ex-City boss David Pleat, the former Spurs manager who was at the reserve-team game against Forest and the 4-1 win against Watford, has also been mentioned in speculation. ( Bugger!!) Other names rumoured to be in the frame include Stoke manager Tony Pulis. In a statement last night, Mandaric said: "Contrary to media speculation we do not have an immediate replacement. The search to appoint a successor now begins." It is understood Allen's assistant Adrian Whitbread will follow him out of the Walkers Stadium, leaving Academy manager Jon Rudkin, coach Steve Beaglehole and goalkeeping coach Mike Stowell in charge for Saturday's trip to Plymouth. Allen's shock departure comes at the end of a traumatic week which saw defender Clive Clarke suffer a suspected heart attack in Tuesday's Carling Cup tie at Nottingham Forest. Both Mandaric and Allen are bound by a confidentiality clause. But Allen, who twice dismissed speculation about his future as rubbish in recent weeks, is reported as saying in the Daily Mirror: "I'm fine. But a lad nearly died on Tuesday, and 24 hours later I've been told to leave. "It is a very strange after four games, two wins, one draw and one defeat, but I can't say any more for legal reasons." as a disclaimer, the 'bugger' was added by me and not the journalist....
Steven Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 The ugliest rumour of all. Reid in running for Leicester post after Allen is sacked
dandannieldanok Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 The ugliest rumour of all. Reid in running for Leicester post after Allen is sacked
Brainy Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 What do we expect a day after our manager is sacked? Tomorrow, Mike Newell will be the favourite.
lookwhaticando Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 Reid is always in the running... we can rule him out. Gary McAllister is usually in the running... he can also be written off. Mike Newell comes and goes on a regular basis... he can be ruled out, too. When it comes to looking for a manager, a few names always come up but never get chosen... hopefully that should continue. David Pleat is fucking useless, and Mandaric would have to be a complete lunatic to appoint him. Thankfully, even Mandaric should have more sense than that... despite being demonstrably fruitier than a certain Cadbury's chocolate bar. Megson worries me... if Warnock is in the running, Megson might also be up there. Frightening though. That Chap from Chelsea is an odd-ball... he's appeared out of nowhere as a candidate in one of the papers. That's just a little bizarre... almost too bizarre to be completely fabricated. He has no obvious connection to the club or the job, which is what makes him something of a surprise candidate. The likes of Megson and Newell are linked with every opening under the sun... but this guy's new to the field - he could be one to watch.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 There is a top secret (okay, so not THAT secret, since I obviously know about it ) genetics lab in the Balkans where Mandaric has produced his dream manager... HIMSELF! Mini-Mand (as he is known) will be installed just before the transfer deadline having brought umpteen washed out Premiership stars to the club. Stan Collymore's return is nigh!!!

act smiley Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 England Women's manager, Hope Powell, as Mandaric doesn't want another manager with balls. To be honest, it'll probably be Roeder or one of the various Chelsea assistants that've been rumoured. Paul Jewell has a good enough reputation to wait for better, Warnock would be out just as quick as he'd be in and I don't think Mandaric would want to try another person who might oppose his opinions after kicking out Allen so soon.
lookwhaticando Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 Leicester are considering a move for Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood. (Daily Record)

Master Fox Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 I reckon we should have a punt on an old school Sunday league manager. You know, the type who brings his dog with him and chain smokes roll up cigarettes while shouting **** a lot. He’d be the epitome of what Leicester is all about. We’d have our club back then from the Serbian swine.

Stan Collymore's return is nigh!!! :D The mind boggles about what a cloned Mini-Mand might do. Would his creator even survive the first week? Would we have Best or Bergkamp rolling off the genetic production line? Would the seats be filled to capacity with laboratory grown spare fans all tirelessly cheering every Mini-Mand move? It somehow seems so appropriate.
JoeyB Posted 31 August 2007 Posted 31 August 2007 From a mate of mine, Paul Jewell has been seen coming/ going from Milans flat 3 times recently! And apparently he was Milans guest on Saturday against Watford!

Three different texts but all pinpoint Peter Reid as Leicester's new manager. The most recent says he's at the training ground with Kevin Phillips. now admin team you can delete as it is only a rumour but seems intresting
