Gené and Tonic Posted 2 September 2007 Author Posted 2 September 2007 Thing is None of the managers are better than Allen, or to put it another way. I'd have taken Allen over any of these before he was appointed. Fairly certain we won't get Jewell
Cheese Me Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Thing isNone of the managers are better than Allen, or to put it another way. I'd have taken Allen over any of these before he was appointed. Fairly certain we won't get Jewell I'll agree with that.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 It's alright for you saying that, being able to make a choice. I can't get to the stadium anyway, I live in Birmingham and I don't know how to get from the railway station to the ground. Whoever gets the job, be it Reid (who appears to be hated) or even a class boss like Paul Jewell, the jury for me will still be out for a few games and whoever it is, we've got to give them some chance before making any negative comments.
Bluefoxtim Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 The thing is, the same names are being mentioned even before we appointed Levein, which would suggest nobody wants them!
FilboFox Posted 2 September 2007 Posted 2 September 2007 Whatever happens I just don't want Warnock... I am not the forgiving type and to be honest I don't particularly like Mandaric for what he did to Martin Allen... there was no reason to sack him! If I had to pick a new manager it would be Jewell or if not then I would go for....... *thinks for a good manager that would fit the bill*........... can't think of anyone else that has as good a record that we could do with...
BigGibbo Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Any one fancy a bit of ruud?Former Chelsea coach Ruud Gullit has hinted he would be interested in returning to management in England (Telegraph). Linkage about half way down that would be an exciting coup for us
Raj Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 BBC website- Spurs boss Martin Jol is back on the brink of the sack after their calamitous 3-3 draw at Fulham on Saturday. (Daily Mirror) Leicester City are favourites to land him after sacking Maddog martin Allen last Wednesday. OK, i made the 2nd sentance up!
davieG Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Stan Collymore writing in the Mirror, not sure if the headline was intended but we could sure do with someone who can fix things LINK Jewell is man for fixes Stan THE MAN Stan Collymore From Day One there were stories of friction and poor communication between Milan Mandaric and Martin Allen at Leicester. So its no surprise to me that Martin has gone. Milan will want someone in who can give the club the best chance of a quick promotion. But although some people have nominated Peter Reid, I can't see him being that man. With the greatest respect to Peter, a progressive club like Leicester with a chairman willing to pump in money, needs a progressive new boss. They need someone young but with Premier League experience. And I think Milan should do whatever it takes to land Paul Jewell, my colleague on Radio Five Live's Monday Night club. Paul might prefer a Premier League club after taking Wigan as far he thought they could go. But I think he could work wonders for Leicester. They in turn might whet his appetite.
Kent Fox Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Maybe Stan has some inside knowledge here as he works with him I'd quite like PJ here. Oh, can I sneak a belated Happy 40th in here??
davieG Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Next Leicester City manager - the candidates Martin Allen lasted just three league games as the manager of Leicester City before becoming the first Championship boss to part company with his club this season. Chairman Milan Mandaric has said he will go for a 'more experienced' man at the helm next time around and as usual, plenty of names have been bandied about already. Paul Jewell - the former Wigan Athletic manager is a clear favourite at present and seems to have the backing of the Foxes' fans. After enjoying the stability of working under Dave Whelan at the JJB Stadium however he may be wary of Mandaric's comment that if he has 'to part company with 20 mangers to ensure I bring top-flight football back to the Walkers Stadium, you can rest assured I'll do it.' Neil Warnock - the ex-Sheffield United boss was strongly linked with the post in the summer before Allen's appointment and was also offered the Portsmouth job during Mandaric's time at Fratton Park. Warnock has also been linked with the Crystal Palace job should Peter Taylor get his marching orders. Gary Megson - a disastrous time at Nottingham Forest looks to have damaged his standing in the game a little but his record in the Championship with West Brom stands up to close scrutiny. Local bookmaking firm Mark Jarvis have seen plenty of money for him with spokesman Scott Upton saying: "One of our area managers says it's not a question of if but when." Glenn Roeder - has been mentioned in despatches as a candidate for a director of football type role (one that Mandaric always seemed keen to introduce at Portsmouth). He could work as the senior figure alongside... Brendan Rodgers - the Chelsea reserve-team coach was heavily backed to take over from Allen late last week. 34-year-old Rogers was previously the director of Reading's academy. Peter Reid - the newspapers are contractually obliged to link the former Manchester City, Sunderland, Leeds and Coventry boss with any vacant position but his appointment wouldn't be one to excite the Leicester supporters. Simon Grayson - in contrast, Grayson, a well-respected former City player and now manager of Championship rivals Blackpool would be a popular choice but at present lacks the experience that Mandaric says he will be going for. Jimmy Calderwood - the Aberdeen manager is a respected figure north of the border and has done a good job on a limited budget at Pittodrie. His response to speculation linking him with the job was: "I wouldn't get too excited about it." Paul Ince - has just got started on a big job at MK Dons so would be unlikely to leave so soon. Gary Johnson - has the experience that the chairman wants but is firmly concentrating on consolidating Bristol City as a Championship club. Harry Redknapp - a 50/1 chance to swap the Premiership for the Championship and link up with Mandaric for a third time.
Raj Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 Gary Megson-"One of our area managers says it's not a question of if but when." THAT IS SCARY!!! Jewell does sound the best option out of that lot
coale39 Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 I thought Jewell was supposed to be on a break from management for a year?
Raj Posted 3 September 2007 Posted 3 September 2007 I thought Jewell was supposed to be on a break from management for a year? The Chance and opportunity to manage our great club will put an end to that!!!
