Ultra Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Jonny Wilkinson... Shame I'm going to Glanford Park next week and will miss the final. May Sky and the Football League burn in hell!
stez Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Woeful, woeful rugby. But you can't fault the heart and determination that won it. A black day for the sport, maybe, and certainly for French outside halves - but a real advert for the human spirit in rugby and in sport in general, really. Swing your chariots low, boys, and enjoy the final. praise indeed!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Black day for the sport? I know where you're coming from but I disagree. Tension, excitement, passion, determination, twists, mistakes, massive moments, all factors that I think make sport, and this sport in particular, so great.Yes, there was little flair or invention, little of the beauty that you as a Welshman hold dear to you but then I thought it had so much more to it to make up for these absent qualities. Then again, I would say that, right now I'm a very proud Englishman. Totally agree, England are playing to their strengths and wearing their hearts on their sleeves. Whatever people say I thought it was good entertainment. If we had tried spraying the ball around then we would have been slaughtered by France's superior backs.
Stuliasz Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MPH Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 its very very rare to get a high quality rugby world cup semi final when you have two teams who have strong packs. France in my opinions have the much better backs and im really suprised they didnt use them more... Tactically, i think france were lacking... the game was there for the taking for them... But what a dogged, spirited performance by the england boys!!!! get in!!! I actually think they will be desperate to play SA in the final because this will be a grudge match..... GET IN!!!!!!!
Milky Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 YEESSSSSSS!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Magnificent bunch of men! Never has a side come from being so down and out. That's the bulldog spirit! fook off surrender monkeys, and fook off any bitter bastards who don't even have the decency to say well done to us.

Let's not forget Henson's fine kick in '05 capped a mistake ridden 11 - 9 affair. That was exciting because we won, but I imagine it wasn't a great game for the neutral. The neutral, trust me on this, wants to see flair, excitement, running, power, passing, phases. Not the French running out of ideas so cluelessly punting the ball any which way they can. Don't take it as an insult, that's just English rugby for you, but there's a reason the crowds got right behind Fija and Tonga no matter where they were from.

Milky Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007  Just stop digging and trying to belittle our sensational achievement. It's getting very tiresome.
Ultra Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Be kind to him. He's had a bad day. I don't think I'd want to face ANYONE if I supported a side that was stuffed by Cyprus..
Dagha_07 Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 JOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYY WWWWWWWWIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLKKKKKKKKKKKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSSSSOOO OOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our saviour again .......... hope he doesnt get injured within the next week or we're screwed
Thracian Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Jonny Wilkinson... Shame I'm going to Glanford Park next week and will miss the final. May Sky and the Football League burn in hell! The more kicks he missed in the first half the more you just knew he was doing to do something at the end. Still thought Jason Robinson was MoM but if someone says I've got it wrong I'm not going to argue. I know damn all about rugby. Even when I played for the school team I hadn't got a clue what I was supposed to be doing. I did discover that slide tackles were taboo though.
Finnegan Posted 13 October 2007 Author Posted 13 October 2007 Just stop digging and trying to belittle our sensational achievement. It's getting very tiresome. Do you think anything I've just said is untrue. I'm just talking about rugby, matey. Sorry I can't join in your enthusiasm. You want to talk about how awesome Johnny Wilkinson's awesome hair is or how super-cool Jason Robinson is, you can always go down the pub and get drunk with all the fairweather fans who'll be milking it about now. As for MoM, it'd probably have to be someone in England's tight five, again. Chabal was a big disappointment for me, as were both of France's fly halves. Potentially match winning tackle from that goober Worsley, too, as much as I dislike him.

If you want to talk about floaty fairy magical rugby with 30 free flowing sevens style phases just keep smoking that jungle juice. The French are taking this really badly! The live reporters are getting all sorts of abuse, both verbal and even physical! Twats.

Monk Posted 13 October 2007 Posted 13 October 2007 Absolutely awesome. There was a lot of glass on the floor of the pub after the game. Well chuffed. Tonnes of frenchies in the pub as well ha they got a fair bit of stick for singing allez les bleus for the best part of the game.
Wils Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 Get in therrrre! Fantastic! The French!!!!!
Blue Fox Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 Yeah, true. Unless you're a neutral. It's not always you boys guilty of dire, grungey, low scoring games. It's not too dissimilar to many football semis and finals. How many dire Cup Finals for the neutral have there been - lots! Having said that it was dire in terms of flowing Rugby, much like a current Megson winning football team.
Lord Nibblington Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 It was a pretty poor game. But if you're English, frankly who cares? I'm still concerned about Wilko. Yes, he came up good in the end... but his overall kicking is decidely average at the moment. I'll be suprised if we can get away with it for a 3rd game in a row next weekend. Still. I was suprised last weekend and this weekend, so who knows?
Geo V Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 Wooooooooohooooooooo! England have shown just how to play a World Cup event. They are getting better by the game and haven't done what sides like NZ did and peaked too soon. Lets hope they can keep it going against South Africa who will no doubt get through against the Argies. They`ll then have all the motivation needed to succeed after their opening game dicking of them and I reckon we can do it again.

In all fairness, the '03 Cup Final was a pretty good game in comparison.
Suffolk_fox Posted 14 October 2007 Posted 14 October 2007 I actually think they will be desperate to play SA in the final because this will be a grudge match..... And playing the Argies won't be?
