I'll be honest, shall I? I was going to come on here and post about as many HAHAs as I could fit in a post. I was going to really, really, really lay in and have a good old roll around the floor. But you don't deserve it.

To be honest, that's got to be one of the most demoralising, embarrassing and disillusioning performances a major nation could give. I feel for you, lads, I really do. I know what it feels like. I've spent most of my international rugby life watching an underachieving, second-rate side and only in recent years have we REALLY had something to sing about. Welcome to the dark ages of rugby union, lads, I only hope it doesn't take you the 20 odd years it took us to get something of a renaissance.

My condolences to you all, I genuinely, genuinely feel for you.

i was so frustrated watching that game! that has to be one of the most pathetic defences of ANY world cup in ANY sport i remember......

Dont blame Brian Ashton at all... but boy that was painful to watch....

ah well... at least looking from the tigers point of veiw we will get our players back quicker.... which brings me to my only point... Why oh Why was Hipkiss not playing? That match would of been perfect for him...

Hipkiss has an injury.

Yep, and then you have to think why players like Chuter and Moody aren't starting.

Corry at flanker :S

FFS Brian Ashton get your act together

Embarrassing really.

I watched quite a bit of the Super XIV's over in New Zealand and South Africa do have alot of good players and are NZ main rivals for the trophey, and Percy Montgomery is one of the best kickers about but oh dear, not a single point on the board? FFS.

We were clueless last night. I knew we were going to get stuffed but I was so cheesed off that we showed nothing in attacking positions. I cant see us qualifying with this shower unless we put in some speedsters from the start and just go for it. I cant see that happening.

If proof was ever needed that Ultra can't read...

There are times I think you're a bit hard done to on here. Then there are times I think you're fooking retarded, christ.

Finners.

If he was knee capped and left for dead with nothing but a Jim Davidson stand up routine to listen to, he wouldn't be hard done to.

I can see why James enjoys this Ultra bashing so much, such good fun.

I think the problem in English rugby is that there's just a genuine lack of real talent coming through, and that that is just isn't ready. The Falcons lads that keep getting call ups, Noon, Tait and Flood just haven't been good enough, Hipkiss hasn't broken through and no one's really making an impression. You just don't have enough world class backs to creatively make anything. It's alright having forwards that can maul the likes of the USA, Fiji, Italy and what have you - but the South Africas, Australias, Irelands and so on are just going to laugh.

Also, we think we're better than we are.

When Johnno retired we lost a true leader and i think that's one of the things that hit us the most, we've had so many different captains since then, and no stability like we had under Johnson.

Leadership is key in Rugby and i think it's something England are lacking.

I'd agree with you on leadership, but you have to factor in the enormous strength of the Tri Nations. I think this first fourty minutes has really, really highlighted the growing gap between the North and Southern hemispheres in rugby, the Australians fair play to them have been absolutely exceptional.

I'd expect the game to open up in the second half, unlike Mr. Stuart Barnes (Cnut) I don't think this one's over yet. But the difference is they just don't make mistakes. Couple of knock ons, bit of holding on on the floor and two missed Jones kicks and all of a sudden the score-line looks far less flattering than, maybe, we'd deserved.

I know us English are in no position to laugh at all but what is happening to the Irish, they're having a mare tonight.

They only beat Georgia 14-10. Even the english at the moment would do better than that. Shocking result.

Wales were taught a lesson by Australia today aswell.

I don't know. I think we're learning all the time, I think in the first half we were given a reality check but we were fantastic at times in the second. I think we've been on a slippery slope since 05 and we're getting close to the top again. It's about confidence and there was plenty to take from the end of the game today. Latham should have been binned, had he, he wouldn't have scored that up and under (Jones! Man!) and the game would have gone to the death.

That's a lot of what-ifs, but the BIGGEST difference between Australia and Wales today was a winning mentality. Something Jenkins has really, REALLY struggle to instil into Wales.

I genuinely think the problem with England at the moment is a serious lack of talented players. You've an absense of hungry youngsters, fresh faces in the game. Every team has it's natural cycle - Leicester for example are in a slump after a high under O'Neill, Arsenal are in a rut, and rugby's the same. Tigers went through it, they're back on their feet. England were dominant through the 90s and peaked in 03. Now you're on the down and we're, sort of, on the up.

What you need is players, what we need is direction, leadership and coaching. And what the ENTIRE northern hemisphere needs is the funding, budget, dedication and profesionalism that our comrades in the south have. I think that's a fairly fair analysis of the situation right now. As for the Irish.. what the fook?

Fine. Arsenal were in a rut. But I don't think everything's hunky dory at the Emirates. You talk to half the Gooners down here about a month ago and they were all telling you it was fourth place, again, at best. Be interesting to see if they're still in the race come Crimbo. Hats off to Arsene if they are.

thank god we got through that , another ragged performance . lets beat tonga and get through 1st and foremost after that we have australia and barring a massive shock we will be going home . we must start NOW to build for 2011

South Africa - Tonga, game of the tournament so far. I can't believe they kicked for the corner in the last fifteen seconds. Rookie error. Keep the ball alive!

look on the bright side... tigers will have their players back sooner and we'll be better equipped for another tilt at the title. :)
