dandannieldanok Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 Don't think for 1 minute he will play this I don't even know if I would, just thought I would throw it in see what people thought. Personally I'm against 3-5-2 ever since England tried it in Croatia, and with Villa's pace I don't fancy the chances of our three centre-halfs coping. But then again who is to say it wouldn't work for us, we certainly need to try something different.

Thracian Posted 24 September 2007 Posted 24 September 2007 It was remarked on at the Reserves game tonight about three at the back. I wish him the best of luck.
Ric Flair Posted 25 September 2007 Author Posted 25 September 2007 It was remarked on at the Reserves game tonight about three at the back.I wish him the best of luck. I think given our lack of available options as natural wingers, wing-backs is the way forward at prsent with Hossein Kaebi on the right and either Mattock or Sheehan on the left. I'd have Andy King in a 3 man midfield as well.

Thracian Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 I think all the youngsters are well out of it until Megson leaves. From almost all I've seen and heard so far he's an insult to everything I consider to be football. I wish him the best with his 3-5-2 I really do. But in no way do I look forward to watching.
MONCABA82 Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 You lot will proberly be playing a second string villa team tomorrow night. ----------------- TAYLOR ----------------- GARDNER-KNIGHT-DAVIES-O'HALLORAN PETROV- REO COKER - BARRY - BERGER -------- HAREWOOD --- MOORE --------- ...and if you decide to try and take a lead, we will have a bench consisting of: CARSON, BOUMA, YOUNG, AGBONLAHOR, MALONEY. Best of luck tomorrow night and i hope the visiting leicester fans give praise to MO'N. Up The Villa!
mancunianfox Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 I really wouldn't be suprised to see Megson play 5-3-2, especially as a formation away from home. Besides, it worked for us well in the nineties. ---------------------Fulop--------------------- ---------Mcauley--Kisnorbo--N'Gotty------- -Chambers-------------------------Mattock- -------Newton--Kishishev--Clemence------ -------------Campbell--Hume--------------- Bench: Henderson, Stearman, Sheehan, Kaebi, Cort

Not only did I prophesise the coming of Megson, early yesterday, I suggested a 3-5-2 for Villa. It would be as above, but with MDV in for Cort. EDIT: And a replacement for Chambers. Sheehan?

MONCABA82 Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 With our up and coming match with Aston Villa V Leicester City , i thought it would be a good idea to get a few thoughts on the game. Clemence would drop back a little into that gap behind him.

Clemence would drop back a little into that gap behind him. King played 90 minutes Saturday and 90 minutes Monday. I really cannot see him starting on Wednesday. People in the know thought he'd come off but the injury to Ferreira just before half-time probably affected the plans as did concerns about Kaebi at one stage and later Djaziri.

That formation would really need two moderately attacking midfielders and Clemence to sit back a little. Kishishev doesn't work. I don't know why I'm so bothered, it's not like Megson'll play anything other than an adequate 4-4-2 that'll sink without trace.

Kishishev doesn't work. I don't know why I'm so bothered, it's not like Megson'll play anything other than an adequate 4-4-2 that'll sink without trace. Firstly, there's been no sign whatsoever from anybody at the club at any point that they've ever considered Andy bloody King. Secondly, we played 3-5-2 in the second half at Charlton and they've been working on it in training since that game.
RizLCFC Posted 25 September 2007 Posted 25 September 2007 Its a worry that we have no geniuine pace in our team, especailly at the back. Agbonlahor and Young will think its Christmas come early. Fulop N'Gotty McAuley Kisnorbo Sheehan Newton/Kaebi Clemence Kishishev Porter/Ferreira Strikers - anyone bar Carl Cort to start.

Nor Kaebi, but I'm hoping he gets a look in. That'll teach me to listen to the game on the radio, then. Barber: Is this 3-5-2? Walsh: No 4-4-2. Then no mention of it again.
