Reserves Player Ratings v WBA (Lost 6-1)

Why limit yourself so? Why not give yourself an hour and see exactly how many excuses you can put together? Either that or we should order 60,000 cardboard cut-out fans for reserves matches.

"Second tier" Leicester City and playing with youngsters didn't do for Kaebi last night. Sherill Macdonald and co were to blame. And if I'd come on here saying Porter was less than he best cos he hadn't got the 23,000 Walkers fans to inspire him or that he hadn't got good enough people around him you'd have mocked me for weeks.

When and if Kaebi shows himself good enough for first team consideration I'm sure some of us who watch will mention it and Megson will notice.

Levi has never and will never regularly play infront of 60,000 people or play 50 games for his national side. Kaebi has. Now it may be hard for you to contemplate or even understand but when you buy players of this calibre the main focus is usually to get them fit and in the side and not necessarily to turn up in friendly matches and expect them to impress enough to get into the team. If we were in the Premiership then he would need to earn the right but we signed him and we are a Championship side who is near the relegation places so IMO, he deserves a chance.

BTW all you have to do is look at Teixeira`s contribution to WBA. A player bought from abroad with a decent reputation and thrust into the first team to have a magnificent effect. I could list plenty of foreign imports who have been signed by Championship clubs over the last few months like Buzsaky at Plymouth, Saganowski at Southampton and Mifsud at Coventry to great effect.

Maybe Kaebi will have a similar impact, maybe he wont but one things for sure, we wont see the best of him in the reserves.

You say stuff like that all the time. Even last night we had the "more assistance and less responsibility" line.

Oh well, we'll see what Andy King's like at sitting on a bench tonight.

As for the last line, I refer you to your own quote a couple of days ago that Kaebi wouldn't let anyone down if selected for the first team. And I'm just going to chuckle at the notion that your thoughts have any influence on our first-team manager whatsoever!

a) King will be starting tonight.

b) Why don't you watch these people yourself if you don't believe what I say.

c) Kaebi has looked okay in right midfield but has never convinced me as a full-back.

I already pay out a fair whack to go and watch our proper team every weekend, I don't feel I should have to drive 30 miles on a Monday night to see an exciting international player whose arrival was trumpeted by the club as a major coup play against West Brom reserves. I want to see him in the team and I reserve the right to expect him to be given a chance based on his pedigree rather than having to prove himself in the stiffs. Other new signings have strolled straight into the first team, one of whom is showing absolutely no ability whatsoever.

We even had the countdown to the unveiling of the WORLD CUP SUPERSTAR. It's embarrassing.

There were 278 people at the game last night. I'm sure that, before long, someone will come on to support your view that Kaebi should be in the first team.

If not perhaps a petition would do it.

 It's one game! For example... if you only put people in the team based on their performances in the Charlton away game or the WBA reserve game, you'd end up with a team of Fulop, Pentney and Clemence FFS.

Firstly he should be playing right midfield not right back and secondly if you're writing off someone being involved in the first team based on one awful performance then thank God I will never have to bother with Alan Sheehan again after his performances against Palace and Charlton this season.

Just out of interest how do you know it's King and not Hellings that is starting.

And Fez, get ready to hang him out to dry Thracian on Kaebi style if he has a bad game.

If he has a bad game it will be because

a) He had no support

or

b) There was only one of him (a team of 11 Kingy's would tear any side apart).

a'la Levi '3 pieces of chicken & chips ta - oooh n'plenty'a garlic mayo' Porter.

Now there's some truth in that statement. Sign me up!

I'm expecting that whether he has a bad game or not. People don't change.

No wonder he suffered a reaction!

As you've already had explained to you, the reason the players you champion get such a going over when they play poorly is down to the fact that you've spent the last few months telling us they are our best option!

Why knock those who go to watch the reserves. I went last night because

a) I fancied watching some live football

b) I wanted to see some of our fringe players so I could form my own opinion about them. In particular I wanted to see Kaebi having only seen him as a sub against Blackpool

c) I hoped for a morale boost by seeing a team of our players play decent footie and win - oh well!

On the positive side

a) I was entertained, albeit by West Brom

b) The WAG in the long white boots sitting two rows in front of me was worth the admission fee of £3

c) the cheesy chips were pretty impressive

As for our "proper team" I thought success is about the whole squad and not just the matchday 11/16

Why not give the odd reserve game a try. You just might enjoy it

He wasn't knocking those who to the reserves. He was knocking Thracian's holier than thou attitude and belief that because he watches more second rate football than the rest of us, his opinion counts for more. All this despite the fact that he's a raving lunatic with an unhealthy interest in the younger members of the squad.

If any of this is incorrect Fez, I apologise, please correct me.

The only person who doesnt change on here is you and your constant lovefest over any player who tickles your fancy from the academy products to the likes of Elvis "Reggie, theres a new sheriff in town" Hammond. To suggest that we want King or whoever to fail is so off the mark its unreal. All I am saying (and keep saying but I dont know why as I am going blue in the face) is that some of the young lads who have come in have been terrible and shouldnt be starting in the side and thank god that some with common sense have sent them on loan to see if they progress or sold some on. Those who remain are Ok but not as outstanding as you at times make them out to be and there is where the :frusty: lies, because to you they can do no wrong.

I hope King does well enough to give the manager a real selection headache when Clem and Weso return and Im sure most on here would say the same so stop being so melodramatic and start understanding what people are actually saying FFS.

I thought that might be the case but it was the use of the phrase "proper team" that I was commenting on. I for one appreciate Thracian's reserve match reports, even if only to find out the score and scorer. I don't know if I agree with his ratings because I've only been to the one reserve game recently and I've not been using this site long enough to see what he said about earlier prospects but even if I do disagree with him-so what? Aren't we all entitled to our opinions and isn't that a large part of what this site is about?

If your experience leads you to think Thracian is talking bol locks I'm sure you're wise enough to ignore his views As entertaining as it sometimes is I don't get the mutual vitriol bit

Get off his back, give him a chance you where willing to give elvis a chance in the first team earlier.

this coming from the bloke that refuses to give stearman a chance, what a hypocrit...

I don't understand the faux indignation here...

The 1t XI IS the proper team. Everything else around the club is geared (or should be) towards the benefit of the first XI. The academy for example is to nurture young footballers in to footballers who might be able to challenge for a place in the first XI. The reserves is to offer the fringe players or those coming back from injury some competitive action.

I honestly don't want to patronise you here.. and I'm sure Fez didn't mean the academy, reserves or any other aspect of the club any real offense or degradation... but his use of the phrase 'proper team' is, I believe, accurate in describing LCFC first XI, however much they might play like a bunch of muppets.

As for the stuff about Thracian, check out how Tommy Wright, Chris O'Grady, Louis Dodds, Alan Sheehan etc were all the next best thing and would blow us all away. Then check out his racist 'NICKNAMES' thread.

Then defend him.
