Free drugs

C'mon, let's do it...name the drug that is currently banned and I'll tell you it should be given away to users for free.

Overnight - crime will be reduced:

  • Petty burglary, shop-lifting and associated crimes will plummet as people stop needing money to buy their fix.
  • Gun-related violence between drug gangs will vanish as they can't sell drugs anymore.
  • Drug addicts will be brought in from the cold into an arena where they can be targetted for addiction treatment.

It's not going to be perfect but no one can argue the the current Misuse of Drugs Act (71) is working.

Or can they?... ;)

Ecstacey, why should that be given away for free.

Ridding the country of crime my dear smoking fiend, ridding the country of crime.

That - and the fact that most threads on FT at the moment bore the piss out of me...and I find myself stuck at home in front of the computer today...and it was a topic of debate on Radio 5 :)

Well weed for a start.

Coke & Heroin would go a long way in reducing crime.

Ecstasy should be given out free for sure. That would sort the violent drunkenness yob problem out.

I’m all for it, if anyone who’s been to Holland will know that it works a treat.

Euro-Championships in Belgium/Holland anyone?

The most trouble-free tourny in The History of International Football Hooliganism. Get loads of stupid chavs stoned off their tits, give them access to prostitutes, and they don't chant in xenophobic fashion or throw beer glasses.

QED my bretheren...Q.E.D.

Beyond the individual - Gangland terror.

OK, no one cares about people being shot in Nottingham, that's their look-out, but I don't like the stupid number of gang-related shootings in Brum.

3) Stop changing your name.

Certainly Ian OrManwelldroyd.

Wow.

Well done.

I forced my girlfriend to give up too and she loves me for it.

How long has she been given up for.

Has she passed the stage where she wants to kill you slowly with a butter knife.

Ecstacy does actually kill people though so if that was legalised there would be young kids droppin off all over the place & if you legalised all the drugs apart from X heroine crystal meth & the likes (that can kill) there would still be a market & therefor still the same gangland climate so there is no such easy solution unfortunately!

A call to legalise drugs on a football forum?

I never thought I'd find such a sensible suggestion here.

I'm all for it. Drugs policy in this country and indeed most of the western world is absolutely absurd. The societal cost of hard drug addiction runs into the billions, and billions are spent on completely ineffectual prevention.

If you had a commodity that people were absolutely desperate for, desperate enough to drive the price up so it's just about the most valuable commodity there is (which is the case with heroin), if you were the government, would you think it would be better to A) control the supply of that commodity yourself or B) let its supply be controlled by the criminal world, and allow it to make billions? Why most of the world goes for option B I've no idea. I assume it's to appease Daily Mail readers and all those that think the fact that it's illegal reduces its prevalence, which is mental in itself. If heroin were legal, would we all start using it? I doubt it

Decriminalise all drugs and sell them in state run drug shops.

Legalise for over 18s the taking in private of all substances sold by these state run drug shops, where drugs are sold for a small profit, but still vastly undercut the criminals and put them out of business.

Mandatory 15 years, served in full, for anyone running/selling drugs illegally after this.

Severe punishment for anyone causing death, injury or damage whilst under the influence of any substance sold by the state run drug shops.

Health education programme in schools outlining the medical, psychological and ethical issues that arise from the use of intoxicating substances.

Chances of our Nanny state actually letting adults decide for themselves what they put in their own bodies = nil.

EH, I didn't change this name it was changed for me and at least I don't change my avatar as well to doubley complicate things!

Don't most gangs deal in coke and crack, the ones that shoot people anyway.

Ecstacy kills less people that Paracetamol I believe. Shouldn't be too hard to make a test to tell if you are likely to be allergic to it.
