Flexx Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 few ppl calling for his head a few weeks ago, but after the Villa and Sheff Wed wins are we behind him now? I've always been behind him, im not fickle like a few fans perhaps are on here.
Ric Flair Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 Desperately want him to do well for us. His style of football is a little frustrating, but if we can become successful doing it then hat's off to him. Plenty of managers are negative and defensive, but few make their teams successful from it. Levein and Kelly tried it with us and it didn't work. Megson has used this style at previous clubs and was very successful at West Brom, so if he replicates that, few can moan.

Why is it a case of being fickle because you don't much like a person's historical approach to playing football? I was appaled by the appointment but am more than happy to admit that he's made a steady start, effectively reorganised the defence, picked what is arguably our best team and even plundered some half decent results. Through all that - plus his introduction of 5-3-2 to the reserves - I've not been impressed with much of the football at all as entertainment. It has been purely functional. However it is early days. He's does seem now to be trying to add to our attacking capabilities and in ways that have a good chance of being productive. Even mention of Collins John suggests he has some idea of who might be regarded as a proper footballer. So right now I'd rate him 7/10, perhaps even 7.5 considering the situation he inherited and I've no reason to believe the club is not at last going forward. Whether that means I shall enjoy watching in the end is another matter.
Master Fox Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 I do so love a conga Who just pinched me? There's no need for that.....

Megson has been quite transparent about the need to improve going forward, thus becoming more 'fluid' going forward. bodes well for the team incoporating more more attacking and therefore, enjoyable football to watch. i hope this is the case too
inmemoryofdoreen Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 if your a leicester fan then you`ve got to be behind him at least until it starts going drastically wrong then call for his head by all means. only 1 loss is`nt a bad start with a team he has inherited after all. if people want to criticise anyone then criticise martin allen and the chairman they are the ones responsible for the rubbish that was signed, megsons just doing his best with what he`s got.
Milky Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 Megson seems very professional, determined to work on certain areas in training, wants to improve fitness levels and is trying to get the team organised. I've been pretty pleased with how he's gone about his work. A bit over defensive maybe at the moment, but a solid base seems to be there now, and he's spoken of his desire to work on the attacking aspects in training so hopefully that will start to come. You can't build all these things over night.
Geo V Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 The dust has settled and so far he doesn't seem to be as bad as people made out he would be when he first took over. We seem to be warming to him more as the Ginger Mourinho chant kind of proves but I think if it had been someone else in-charge who got us through against Forest and Villa away in the cup, we would maybe have accepted him with more open arms? Im not sure if thats accurate but it feels that people still cant get their heads around the GM appointment.
Raj Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 I've ALWAYS been behind Megson..gotta be innit??? BUT i would prefer to be behind Penelope Cruz.

Bryn Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 I think he's doing as good as any realistically appointable manager could do with us. Our defence is rock solid and we're getting decent results. He is clear on what we need to improve and doesn't make erratically bizarre choices (Chambers may seem bizarre but at least he hasn't shoved people in randomly all over the place, he seems to have an idea what his top team is and I don't think he sees Chambers as a permanent fixture in CM). If he can sort our attack out, as he evidently knows he must and has good targets in mind, we may well do alright this year. It seems a thoroughly professional job compared to the likes of Kelly and Allen.
Simon Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 The dust has settled and so far he doesn't seem to be as bad as people made out he would be when he first took over. Im not sure if thats accurate but it feels that people still cant get their heads around the GM appointment. That sums up things really well I think. I'm never going to agree with everything he says and does. I don't like seeing James Chambers wasted in midfield, I don't like seeing us constantly going in for more defensive players, and I didn't like that Mark De Vries was scapegoated by being carted off to Leeds, but I guess you can't have everything. BUT I'm willing to admit that I was EXTREMELY skeptical about Megson's appointment, and he did get a bit of a bashing from me early days. HOWEVER, I've been pleasantly surprised and fairly impressed with the changes he's made to the team. He's made us hard to beat, which is exactly what we want; let's get that sorted first. Now it's clear he's ready to focus on attack. If he can get one or two players in during the loan window to add to our attacking options then even better. He's definitely been a helluva a lot better than some of the names we COULD have had, and he was a lot better then what I personally was expecting, so fair play to him. But his work is just beginning. The challenge now is to get us scoring goals whilst still not conceding (or at least score more than the opposition do) and get us at the right end of the table.
Ultra Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 Still early days. May not be until Christmas before we can judge whether Megson's changed the team for the better. However he would assist himself immensely if he could guide the side to a few home wins.

May not be until Christmas before we can judge whether Megson's changed the team for the better. However he would assist himself immensely if he could guide the side to a few home wins. I was sceptical when megson was 1st appointed granted, but after watching his use of the team he inherited I believe hes the man take us forward and up into the premiership ( so it may not be pretty football but its, currantly, doing the job) Home wins are crucial in going forward too as megson needs to get city playing so well that the walkers bowl becomes a inpenetrable fortress. Our defense looks pretty solid, what with fulop in goal which is key to this, so all we need now is some fresh talent up-front to bang in 20+ goals, plus a new midfielder and that should just about do us
Steven Posted 12 October 2007 Posted 12 October 2007 I think he'll fuk up and his style of boring football just wont get reasults for this club but obviously I'm want him to do well. Sums up how I feel.
