RowlattsFox Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Did Mattock come on as sub? He was an unused sub for that game but Mattock played the whole game on sunday against Romania.
Jimmy Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 From the Daily Mirror..Not sure how much substance there is in this story, even if Mandaric is a mate of Avram Grant. Anyway, with Ashley Cole out for three months, Bertrand may be on his way back to the bridge, maybe even to play against us. aint wayne bridge playing reserve football again now after injury?
Bert Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Megson probably knows that MM loves Mattock. How conventiently you forget Mattock's "blip" against Blackpool too.Add two goals and another assist to the corners of Shehan - plus another free kick he almost scored from and the inch-perfect chance created for Campbell and put them alongside all the chances Mattock's created and all the goals he's scored. There's no argument that I can see. I think Mattock's a good player but if the stats were reversed there wouldn't be a single voice for Sheehan. What you mean the fact that he nearly blacked out?
Geo V Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 If we are going to go for a young untried player at LB I wouldn't bother. I`d rather stick by Mattock than sign someone to come in with not that much more experience and let him learn his trade with us.
Webbo Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 He played ahead of Mattock at left back in Englands game on Friday before he was sent home. It's no harm getting an Eng U19 player in, but permanently. If it's a loan it doesn't make alot of sense when we've Sheehan & Mattock. If we are going to go for a young untried player at LB I wouldn't bother. I`d rather stick by Mattock than sign someone to come in with not that much more experience and let him learn his trade with us. Damn straight.
joely22 Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Not meaning to p*ss on your fire or anything but this does come from The Mirror...

Micky Ruddle Posted 16 October 2007 Posted 16 October 2007 Who is this Ryan lad then? Not heard of him to be honest.
Dames Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 What you mean the fact that he nearly blacked out? Thracian just has beef because he's ahead of his beloved Sheehan.
STUHILL Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 Odd one really. I guess if Megson sees Mattock as a midfielder, then we do need another LB to compete with Sheehan. Would prefer to get a exciting winger though, as I think we need more attack from midfield.
Shipman Out Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 Why did Bertrand and Sinclair get sent home? Defender Ryan Bertrand is in trouble with the FA after being sent home from the England under 19 International side who are trying to qualify for the European Championships. Bertrand, 18, broke a curfew and while head coach Brian Eastick stressed there was no other misdemeanour, the player was still asked to return to Boundary Park. The on loan player was sent home with Chelsea team mate Scott Sinclair and Newcastle United's Andy Carroll. Eastick said, "I found it necessary to send the three players home for breaking our code of conduct. All the appropriate people have been informed and there will be no further comment at this time."
Shipman Out Posted 17 October 2007 Posted 17 October 2007 Id like to know where Chelsea got him from, cos they bought a load of youngsters from the likes of Leeds, Peterborough ect dunno if he is a local lad come through the system or someone they have bought in for there youth team

Everyone just loves Mattock because he's younger. There's a massive bias on the entire forum where everyone wants to see the youngest player possible in each position. Bravo.

There's a massive bias on the entire forum where everyone wants to see the youngest player possible in each position. Bravo. He is absolutely right though. Mainly because of people's annoyance with Thracian and Sheehan's blip last season, Sheehan wouldn't get much support from some on these forums. If the stats were reversed, Thracians absolutely right that no-one would mention Sheehan. Add to that the fact that Mattock is highly rated and chased by several top teams while being an English youth prospect, it's quite reasonable to assume a bias.
