Simi Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Kids Out In ForcePosted on: Mon 22 Oct 2007 Leicester City have reported a large upsurge in family ticket sales ahead of Tuesday night's Championship clash against Sheffield United at the Walkers Stadium. Younger Foxes fans have been taking advantage of the special half-term ticket offer which is available on the night - allowing under 16s to gain entry for just £5 and under 8s to get in free. And with the school holidays in full swing the match will give a rare opportunity for a number of fans to sample the atmosphere under lights at City's home. A City spokesman said: "We have seen a surge in ticket sales in our North Stand family area ahead of the game. "It's a great chance for families who would normally not be able to come to midweek fixtures to get down to the Walkers Stadium and sample the special atmosphere a night match generates. "We have had a number of parents come to the ticket office and tell us that they were excited to be able to bring the kids down for an evening kick off match. And the fact that the game is against a side that were plying their trade in the Premiership last year only adds to the excitement." Leicester go into the game having lost just once in their last eight fixtures under the stewardship of Gary Megson. Meanwhile, Bryan Robson's Sheffield United arrive at the Walkers Stadium without a win from their last six league games. The Club would like to remind supporters that tickets for the game remain on general sale up until kick off on the night. Tickets are priced at just £23 for adults, £21for senior citizens, £15 for under 22s and students and £5 for under 16s. Don't forget - under 8s go free in the North Stand. No doubt the erm 'Kop' () will be full of families again on Tuesday. Even though they say they have seen an increase in sales in the North Stand. I bet some families just can't wait to sample, as the club call it, a 'special atmosphere'. Can't say I've witnessed this special atmosphere myself, unless 45 minutes against Birmingham was 'special'. When will the club start to realise we have one of the poorest home atmospheres in this division?

Simi Posted 22 October 2007 Author Posted 22 October 2007 When they realise that we are no longer a force in this division. Indeed. This has annoyed me almost as much as when the OS posted... "Blue Army on the March again" After we'd took 800 to S****horpe.

Austin Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Home atmosphere is so poor, the only time ive felt remotely like i was watching a game with a good atmosphere was infact B'ham and fulham in the cup at walkers - that was alright considering attendance was 15k ..
SamL Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 The sound dynamics at the Walkers are crap. The away fans are situated in the best position for creating nice in the stadium where sound can easily be projected out. Thats never gunna change but with all these kids coming on tuesday night, all i can see us singing is clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap Leicester
teblin Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 do you not think the atmosphere problem is due to the fact we don't win any games there? the team have to get the crowd going as well as the other wat around.
Micky Ruddle Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 I blame the twat that made the walkers. I liked it at first, but i actually think it's crap. I don't think we have come across a special atmosphere at Walkers yet have we?
Guest Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 On the other hand, would you prefer our local schools to have even more plastic glory hunting Chelski/Manure/Arse fans? I admit that kids can be embarrassing; it's only because they know no better. I blame the parents. You wouldn't catch my niece squealing "Leicester...Leicester". It prefers proper songs it is not allowed to sing along to because of the bad language, and I know that the child is not the only one like that.

It's the club. The Under 8's free offer should only be in the Family Stand. It does get annoying when you try and start some chants off and a Mother turns around and glares at you because you're swearing. I just find myself staring in disbelief. The longer the club carries kicking the supporters that want an atmosphere, the worse it will get. But let's not forget the loyal Blue Army on the march to Stamford Bridge. Just for those 'fans' that don't know, that's Chelseas ground.

Just for those 'fans' that don't know, that's Chelseas ground. The way I see it, if you don't want your kid to hear swearing, don't take them to the football. It's a problem with society as a whole; I've seen parents having a go at groups of adults in the pub before now. But don't get me started on that.... I agree to an extent that having free tickets all over the ground is stupid. After all, what is the Family Stand for? But then again, the old Kop had no concession prices at all, but there were still kids in there. If you're going to pay full whack for an ankle biter, then you must really want to be in there! Which is why there seemed to be no problems. I guess that football is competing with other forms of entertainment, and are trying to be more accommodating with families as a result.
brez Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 When they realise that we are no longer a force in this division. Well, the reserves are :-) 2nd in one of the "ligue"s they play and 3rd in the other - bravo!!!

What makes the kop any different for "projecting noise out" than the away end? Nothing. The stadium is the same all the way round. Its just the away fans all intend to singi suppose, the same as alot who go to away games for Leicester are the "singers".
Corky Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 I can understand everyone's frustrations. I sit in the Family Stand (wouldn't mind moving, but I've got a great seat and the people immediately around me are good, loyal people) and I wish we would join in with the chants. I try but I feel stupid when only about four others join in as well. The problem is the layout of the stadium is all wrong. They should stick the Kop next to the away fans, that way the atmosphere will be better, the people who want to sing can and can be heard, and the people that don't want to sing can sit in silence in the South Stand. The atmosphere is appalling, the only really good atmosphere down there was the Villa Cup match last year. This is why I prefer away matches. On Saturday we were the only set of supporters singing, and the same will be at Colchester. I will be going, we can stand up, the ground is small so the noise stays in and there should be a good atmosphere. The club has got to try and get the atmosphere at the Walkers like it was at Filbert Street.

And also a healthy representation of the sit-down-and-clap-must-not-speak-fans, otherwise known as the prawn sandwich brigade.
purpleronnie Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 'sample the atmosphere under lights at City's home' ?????????????????????????????????????????????? They could go to a library instead.
filbertway Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Good idea by the club, it's a shame we're playing such poor football and the atmosphere isn't all that. So about 2% of the kids will be hooked.
Floating Fox Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 'sample the atmosphere under lights at City's home'?????????????????????????????????????????????? They could go to a library instead. True, who is gonna want to come back after watching the most boring 90 mins of football there'll ever see. Saturday was a new low in my eyes. We went to s****hrope and played for a draw ... WE WENT TO S****HROPE AND PLAYED FOR THE DRAW !!! I don't care how good s****hrope are doing at home, we should never go to the likes of s****hrope and play for a draw. In my 14 years of supporting leicester, THAT was the worst 90 mins i've ever sat through. The football is complete and utter dire. I would rather just attack for 90 mins then sit through that again. Why the forest fans hate him so much becase of the style of football he plays ... Its just plain boring and who's gonna waste there money watching it.

Me And saturdays game was nowhere near the worst 90 minutes of the last few seasons let alone of the last 14 years!!!
Floating Fox Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Me And saturdays game was nowhere near the worst 90 minutes of the last few seasons let alone of the last 14 years!!! Agree. I've seen so, so much worse. I enjoyed my day. That was 1/2 down to the alcohol though I guess...
syston_fox Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Agree.I've so so much worse. I enjoyed my day. That was 1/2 down to the alcohol though I guess... Actually its rare if I dont enjoy an away day these days. Even when the football is crap and its bitterly cold, you're still out and having a laugh with mates. Charlton away was absolute crap on the pitch this season but I still enjoyed the day as a whole and I don't regret going!
