davieG Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 No because if we get to Wembley we should all make the effort to make sure all the tickets are bought up before they go on general sale. & the ones we can't get until the day we get loads of us to wait outside the ticket office & buy as many as we can per man to make sure they go to supporters hopefully that could work When Derby got there you had to buy a ST to get a play-off one as the first priority - that's why they've got so many sT holders this year, they were purchased before they knew what league they'd be in.

syston_fox Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I was going too, but they are only taking 1 coach and its all sold out. Gutted like Still back in my school days this is the sort of game i would never miss. And your excuse for colchester? All about the glory....
ASH17LCFC Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 And your excuse for colchester? All about the glory.... The money mate but also i rather save the money and go to another away game and watch that on tv.
Monk Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I was so close to going yesterday. Glad I didn't in the end I guess. Still, its a valuable point on the road, and we're another place higher in the table. Its progress.
Ultra Posted 5 November 2007 Posted 5 November 2007 How the hell can ANYONE say they'd prefer us to stay in the Championship? Sure, the awaydays are better (for those of us who go on them.. ). But look how much dross we've had to witness in home games over the last three and a bit seasons, being turned over by teams whom we should be despatching with ease. I hope the new manager, whoever he may be, acts VERY quickly to dispel this apparently widespread tolerance of mediocrity. As someone once said, we shouldn't settle for being mid-table Tommys, especially not in a league as poor as this!

Ultra Posted 5 November 2007 Posted 5 November 2007 What the fook are you on how is this a poor league? Look who's top, and remember how crap they were when they played us! There's no quality or consistency in this league. Any team (including us) could make a run from the bottom half to the top six, as Derby did this time last year.

Yes true but not because this leagues poor in fact quite the opposite its because all the teams are capable its just whoever hits the best form, this league is full of potential premiership & ex-premiership players. The gulf in class between the premiership & the championship serves only to show how good the premiership is not how bad the championship is!

Outside the big four, the Premiership's not that great either. Look at the West Ham-Bolton game yesterday. Even so, both sides would comfortably see off ANY team in our division.

Manwell Pablo Posted 5 November 2007 Posted 5 November 2007 What was wrong with West Ham Bolton yesterday, I thought it was an alright game Some people just seem to think every game they watch needs to 90 minutes of fast paced end to end gung ho attacking football, you'd of though after watching the game for several decades they might relise that isn't always going to happen.

As someone once said, we shouldn't settle for being mid-table Tommys, especially not in a league as poor as this! The Championship is competitive and based on a fairly level playing field - for the time being at least. In the Premier you're guaranteed to be an also ran with at least 10 other teams playing just to avoid relegation The only chance they have, and its small of winning anything is one of the Cups - the same as many Championship sides ( assuming they don't rig the draw ) The costs in the Premier are prohibitive for many of the current fans attending games - me included. Many regular fans would be priced out to be replaced by fair-weather premiership wannabes who will dissappear as soon as the season is over so the only games they will get to see is on Sky. Sure it should be the ambition of every fan to play in the top league unfortunately whilst it continues in it's present format I really don't see the appeal of being there as I can watch the games on TV for much less than a match ticket, whilst continuing to support LCFC in the Championship. If we were only playing some decent attractive attacking football I'd be fairly contented.

Nothing really except that it didn't strike me as being significantly better in terms of quality than you see in the championship and reflects the gulf between the aves and have nots and the inequality that has become the hallmark of the Premier League. If LCFC aspire to be one of those teams and we have to pay £40+ for the privaledge of seeing it live down at the Walkers then you can count me out.

And Bolton and West Ham aren't signifcantly better than some Championship sides, they're just better. Thats why both will probabley be in the bottom half come the end of the season. It's amusing, the same people who are moaning about the quality of Sundays game are the same people who moan about the amount of games the big four have televised, you can't have it both ways.

For some strange reason, I doubted that a game involving the "ginger Mourinho" was ever likely to feature gung-ho attacking football. But I did expect some quality, at least from the hammers. And the way in which they threw away a win in the dying seconds reminded me of so many City home games in recent seasons..

And Bolton's fight back to win an unlikely point away from home with a stoppage time goal could be said to be reminiscent of Martin O'Neill's Leicester team. Struggling to see the point of some people here really. The Premiership isn't non-stop entertainment but then if you don't rate it that highly then you wouldn't expect us to get battered every week. And to be competitive in the top league is what Leicester City's raison d'etre has always been.

As someone once said, we shouldn't settle for being mid-table Tommys, especially not in a league as poor as this! You don't turn anyone over with ease if your sole ambition - justified or otherwise - is to get and then protect a single goal lead. You don't turn people over consistently when your management structure is constantly changing because a team is like an engine - it is first conceived and then requires minior adjustment to get the best out of it. You don't turn people over consistently with half your main squad injured and the best replacements are out on loan or unavailable. You don't turn people over in an atmosphere of fear where no-one has the chance to build on firm ground and where the chairman is as likely to sack you as support you. In some ways I think it is a considerable tribute to players and staff that we have scrambled our way into mid table with: a) A skeleton team. b) So many signed squad members being clearly sub-standard/permanently unfit. c) So many managerial/coaching changes. d) So much endless speculation about who will replace them. e) So many system changes. Even now, and helped by the tightness of the division, I believe we have the basis of a team which could get into the top six given proper foresight and leadership from the chairman and the introduction of a decent management team which players and chairman mutually respect...if it's not already there. In fact were I a managerial applicant would love to inherit the core of players we have at City as the springboard for future success. Almost everything is in place apart from two or three players and a positive philosophy.

Manwell Pablo Posted 5 November 2007 Posted 5 November 2007 Televised or not televised, wouldn't you still make the effort of coming? Depends as far as I'm concerned, if we were in the Premier League I'd go to televised games. However I can't afford to go to every game, and it makes sense to miss the few that are on TV when we're in the Championship.
