Webbo Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 From The Sunday Times November 4, 2007 Stearman 6, Fryatt 5, Were they watching the same game?
Nath Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Were they watching the same game? Papers are giving colchester higher ratings than us! They was just as bad as us, and yet we had a lot more better chances than them.
Guest Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I blame Stearman for their goal. In fact I blame Stearman for everything bad in the world.
Nath Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I blame Stearman for their goal. In fact I blame Stearman for everything bad in the world. He ALWAYS loses his man. Can't the management see how bad he is?!
Micky Ruddle Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 He ALWAYS loses his man. Can't the management see how bad he is?! Chambers/Kaebi for right back. Stearman for Rushden.
Nath Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Chambers/Kaebi for right back.Stearman for Rushden. What have Rushden done to deserve that?!
Micky Ruddle Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 What have Rushden done to deserve that?! Nothing, just saying Stearman will suit that type of football - lower league. Useless c---
Nath Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Nothing, just saying Stearman will suit that type of football - lower league. Useless c--- Needs to be lowerer than that
Bryn Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I think Stearman definately needs dropping, but I look forward to seeing a John/Campbell strike partnership with Fryatt in the hole and Wesolowski and Clemence in midfield. With Chambers at right back. I'd be very happy with that side.
Webbo Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Admittedly Stearman had a bad game yesterday but generally he's been 1 of our better players this season. Don't forget that wingback is not his natural position.
Anish Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 I thought we were terrible. We all hope that Leicester gets promoted to the Premier league but how on a performance like that could we expect to get there let alone survive. If we want to get promoted we need to be beating sides like Colchester with ease. The tactics were once again wrong. Playing 5-2-3 didnt work as all we seem to do was hoof long balls up the pitch with little success. There easily cancelled us out in midfield and without having the width of wingers to pull them accross the field they could easilt contain us. I do wonder why we didnt play King as this is his natural role and he seemed to do OK when asked to do it earlier in the season. But what about some of our forgotten few _ Hayes, Hellings, Kaebi, Ferreria ect are these players that poor that they cannot step up for a couple of games? It is a major concern that we seem to have one of the argest squads in the league but cant play the majority of the player we have got. Bring on a new manager with new ideas as we badly need them. Too right. I think King is injured, but the likes of Hellings, Hayes, Kaebi etc should be preferred in midfield to Kenton and Chambers (which would allow us to play natural wide players). To think how much we're wasting in wages on players who have barely kicked a ball in anger for our club is ridiculous. Either give them a chance or get rid, which begs the question who on earth signed them in the first place.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Ithought Fryatt looked good in the hole using his ball holding skills usefully. He was unlucky not to score. I second that, but about the only positive from the game. I was disappointed with Burrows either unwillingness or inability to change things around though. I agree with what has been said elsewhere that he didn't exactly have many options on the bench however it took him 75 minutes to use the limited resources he had, Well, at least Roeder's not coming here! :w00t:

I can see where you are coming from here, but i felt without Weso and Clem, he is doing alright isn't he? Did well at Chelsea, done well last night. The last few performances have been unexpected from him playing out of his usually preferred position at CB, but he has done his job quite alright. Hasn't he?
Webbo Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 the likes of Hellings, Hayes, Kaebi etc should be preferred in midfield to Kenton and Chambers The fact that they're not speaks volumes.
Harpenden Fox Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Too right. Either give them a chance or get rid, which begs the question who on earth signed them in the first place. but with our current injury situation you're basically suggesting we play no one at all in central midfield, have loads of wingers, and allow the opposition to have the centre of midfield uncontested. It's all very well calling for Hellings, Hayes, Kaebi, but which one are you suggesting plays in centre midfield until Weso or Clemence returns?
Matt Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 IMO Stearman only seems to perform in the Carling Cup, the rest of the time he's du du du du fooking useless, Brilliant against Villa last season (Possibly his best game for us), Scored against Forest this season, Not bad against Villa this season, Not bad against Chelsea....Mind you that goes for most of the players - Only seem to perform in Cup games. He seemed a real good prospect 3 years ago (Think it was 3) in his first season, Ever since his first season he's been pretty poor, I was just hoping he had a bad season last season and could put that behind him and we'd see the Stearman of his first season back, but nope he's still poor.
Leicester Lass Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Terrrible game and performance really, very good day out though
BigGibbo Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 The fact that they're not speaks volumes. About who though?

King, Ferreira and Kaebi were all injured last I knew, Hayes has still played very little football after a long injury lay-off, which would just leave Hellings. I cannot imagine he would represent an improvement on Chambers or Kenton but he might justify a place on the bench. I only say might because he's had very little impact in the reserves thus far.
Fox in a Box Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 A lot better result than it might seem. With our entire midfield decimated and with serious fatigue setting in towards the end as predicted after the Chelsea match I thought everyone did well to battle out a draw - including the management. There are good signs that Burrows and Taggart are trying to make us look like a team again - with a defence, midfield and attack - and they made the most of a difficult situation and there is no doubt to me that Carl Cort should have clinched it after that brilliant save from Fryatt. He didn't gamble enough and he didn't show enough conviction to gobble up what was a genuine striker's chance. No we wouldn't necessarily have deserved to win but it was probably the best chance, goals apart, except for the brave edge of the area save when Granville looked through. quite agree with the First/Second points.
Dr The Singh Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Turgid performance, although we lack midfield options, we played largely a counter attacking style but at times our passing was awful!!! I would have liked to see John and Cort upfront, i'm sure if we had clemence and weso playing the result and performance would have been different!! Overall it shows we have a shocking squad!!
Brainy Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Were they watching the same game? Exactly what I was thinking.

Am I the only one who really couldn't give two shits about the Premier League at the minute and wouldn't mind if we didn't go up any time soon?
davieG Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Am I the only one who really couldn't give two shits about the Premier League at the minute and wouldn't mind if we didn't go up any time soon? Nope - we'd be just like Derby - fooked every week!!!!!
Matt Posted 4 November 2007 Posted 4 November 2007 Am I the only one who really couldn't give two shits about the Premier League at the minute and wouldn't mind if we didn't go up any time soon? Nope, I with you, Yeah Premiership's great, Great players, Great clubs, but I just wanna see my club playing well and winning, we can't do that in the Championship, let alone the Premiership. Obviously playing well and winning leads to the Premiership but lets just focus on playing well and winning in this league first.
