so far i have seen little class and he always passes it back never forward.

I hope he will prove me wrong but i rekon he massively over achieved last season and won't be doing that again

:dunno: What games were you watching

The guy is a very good player, he's been here, what, 3 months, has had 2 injuries, has been given the captaincy and when everyone expects so much its hard to deliver.

The person we should blame is the person that brought 40 below average players in at the start of the season, instead of the 4/5/6 quality ones that we needed.

If you brought say Beckham down to this level, he would look like a good player, but no more, because he is surrounded by shite ones. Fact.

Lots of the players have quality and a good manager will bring it out.

People forget the results members of this squad have put together.

All have their failings but they are far better than people give them credit for as I am sure they will start to show now with a manager who seems likely to balance the team properly.

Yes I agree with you there, I made an unfair comment without really thinking about it. There is some quality in our squad and the right manager will bring it out. I believe we have that in Holloway.

He`s been like so many of our palyers, mediocre. He started really well and then got injured but from I have read has not grabbed the games by the scruff of the neck and bossed the midfield which is arguably what someone with his ability should be doing at this level.

considering just after allen left there were posts about doubling his wages... so fickle, hes the best signing weve made in a long time... it would be hard to name many better cm's in the championship

As said before he is quality but needs quality around him. We've been too static this season and although Clem I thought had a poor game for him on Monday night he'll benefit from the stability the new manager will bring. He needs an attacking MF partner as I've mentioned elsewhere. Weso and King seem too similar but time will tell. The movement shown in last 2 games gives me a glimmer for this season

Clemence isnt a Muzzy Izzet and shouldn't be compared to Muzzy. Izzet was one of those players who loved to get forward and get into the box and score goals, that was what he thrived on, Clemence is very much a holding player who uses the ball effectively and comes from deep, the only comparison I can make is similar to Andrea Pirlo at AC Milan, I don't ever see him being a player who arrives in the box and gambles, that is the kind of player we are missing at this present time.

Haha you are deluded my friend, do you even watch football? Comparing him to Pirlo is an abserloute joke, pirlo is 5 times the player Clem is at least

He wasn't comparing him in the sense that you're thinking of mate.

No-where near as good, but i think Durnerz means these two both play simular games. Protecting the back four, calming things down, spraying passes about, occasionally breaking into the box.

It might just be me, but I think Clemence has been largely dissapointing for us since his summer move.

I was hoping (along with a large number of other people) that he would be somewhat of a God in the centre of the park for us ala a new Muzzy Izzet. This so far has not been the case.

He was such an influencial player for Birmingham last season and was paramount to them getting promoted. He was however surrounded by quality players in every area of the pitch, unlike at city.

I think that has been the key factor this season for him. The lack of quality in our squad has sucked him into the same level as the 'average joe's' in our line-up, he only seems to shine when surrounded by other decent players as last season proved. From the games I've been to I haven't seen a performance to warrant the hype that was surrounding him when he moved. He has shown some neat touches and little sparkles during the game where his quality shines through but it's not on a consistant basis.

I have no doubt however that when he is settled and we bring a bit more quality in then he will find his feet as show everyone what he is capable of....

I reckon Clemence is good on the ball and can pick-out a pass. For me, the problem has been the long-ball game which effectively by-passes players with quick feet and passing ability. I believe that a tactical change would benefit Clemence. I would like to see a quality ball winner playing alongside him to supply him

Your probably right bert but it sounded that way..

I havent really seen much evidence of the skills/attributes you mentioned above. I still think its down to him needing much better players around him to raise his own game

He's our club Captain and has been solid IMO, at times really good. He ran the midfield at Ashton gate on Saturday, yet Weso gets all the plaudits. He didn't have a good game vrs. Cardiff due to the fact that no one would ever move for him and that Cardiff had two on him every time he got near it.

Clem is and will always be more Lennon than Izzet, i would like to see what a Gareth Williams type would be like alongside him TBH.

Correct, apologies for any confusion. Playing the deep-lying playmaker role as Pirlo does for Milan and Italy, sadly Clemence isnt quite up to his level yet

Williams never got forward much though, only when he could be arsed. Clemence alongside an energetic attacking midfielder would be interesting, someone like Neil Danns. Jimmy Smith and Matty Pattison who are both on loan at Norwich are both the types of midfielder that would work well with Clemence as well. Pattison ripped Coventry to pieces last Saturday, very impressed with him.

True, but Andrea Pirlo is horribly HORRIBLY over rated.

Can't believe that a World Cup and Champions League winner is even being mentioned in the same thread as Stephen "Gareth Williams Mark 2" Clemence.... :o:rolleyes:

YES HE IS SO OVER-RATED, I THINK HE IS A PIECE OF SH*T AND HE NEEDS TO START PERFORMING OTHERWISE HE WILL BE DROPPED, LIKE TODAY HE DIDNT EVEN LOOK LIKE HE WAS TRYING, HE WAS JOGGING TO THE BALL INSTEAD OF SPRINTING AND HE LOOKS LIKE HE DOSENT EVEN WANT TO PLAY FOR THE CLUB

Great Clemence games for Leicester..

1) Watford

2) Forest away (last five minutes..)

3) Er..

Gareth Williams is twice the player of Clemence, at least he can pass.

When he first came here I thought we'd nabbed a bargain and got a right steal.

First few games I thought he was the only quality midfielder in our side, he was always the only one looking to do something.

Now he's just blended into our team as just another player. Disappointing to say the least.

He is a very good player at this level, just going through a bit of bad form at the minute. I really do rate him and think we will soon get the best out of him.
