AyewJoking Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Lots of the players have quality and a good manager will bring it out.People forget the results members of this squad have put together. All have their failings but they are far better than people give them credit for as I am sure they will start to show now with a manager who seems likely to balance the team properly. Is it a case of not having any good managers or werent they here long enough? Its a nightmare how no one can seem to sort the players out.
Tommy G Posted 7 December 2007 Author Posted 7 December 2007 I think its about time this thread was brought back after clemences comments have infuriated me!
maddog Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 It might just be me, but I think Clemence has been largely dissapointing for us since his summer move.I was hoping (along with a large number of other people) that he would be somewhat of a God in the centre of the park for us ala a new Muzzy Izzet. This so far has not been the case. He was such an influencial player for Birmingham last season and was paramount to them getting promoted. He was however surrounded by quality players in every area of the pitch, unlike at city. I think that has been the key factor this season for him. The lack of quality in our squad has sucked him into the same level as the 'average joe's' in our line-up, he only seems to shine when surrounded by other decent players as last season proved. From the games I've been to I haven't seen a performance to warrant the hype that was surrounding him when he moved. He has shown some neat touches and little sparkles during the game where his quality shines through but it's not on a consistant basis. I have no doubt however that when he is settled and we bring a bit more quality in then he will find his feet as show everyone what he is capable of.... Clemence has been extremely disappointing since his move and is massively over rated. He's just another Gareth Williams maybe not even as good
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Goody, another anti player band wagon. Thats it now I'm afraid Clem, once you start down this dark path forever will it dominate your destiny, I wouldn't even bother trying to put in any good performances from now on you wont get any credit for them.

The same happens to stearman aswell. At least he put some effort in. its just ability that lacks with him.
davieG Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Clems not been too hot but to compare him to Williams is just illogical, they are completely different types of player with completely different characters, Williams was permanently under performing show boater where as Clemence is a methodical, efficient work horse. Williams had many more inconsequential games than Clemence will every have, Clemence is just having a bad patch where as Williams had the occasional good patch.
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 The same happens to stearman aswell. At least he put some effort in. its just ability that lacks with him. Stearmans problem is we have so many options in his position.
Fat Ron Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Clemence has been extremely disappointing since his move and is massively over rated. He's just another Gareth Williams maybe not even as good An exceptionly poor comparison.. The same happens to stearman aswell. At least he put some effort in. its just ability that lacks with him. Crap work rate, no effort, he works hard but has no ability, he has abilty but crap work rate etc etc... Bottom line is that we are stuck in a rut at the moment, slagging people off or booing them isnt gonna get us out of it. We need to support and encourage as much as possible, what has gone on before Ollie came in has gone... nothing to do with him, we need to support him and in turn support the players to get out of the shite we are in..
Bert Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 True, but Andrea Pirlo is horribly HORRIBLY over rated. Only in your opinion. He can't be that bad to be playing week in week out for the European cahmpions can he?
Dr The Singh Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Clems not been too hot but to compare him to Williams is just illogical, they are completely different types of player with completely different characters, Williams was permanently under performing show boater where as Clemence is a methodical, efficient work horse.Williams had many more inconsequential games than Clemence will every have, Clemence is just having a bad patch where as Williams had the occasional good patch. Name me a midfielder that has really shone this season, pointing fingers at just one of them is just silly!! The manager is limited in this dept, come January, more competittion will be added (hopefull), if CLemence continues to disapoint, there's a seat on the bench that always needs warming!!!!
Bert Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Wesolowki. With him in the side we've at least had some bite about us and been more competitive. It's obvious that we miss him when he's not there.
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Only in your opinion. He can't be that bad to be playing week in week out for the European cahmpions can he? Only me? He's over rated I'm quite sure alot of people will agree with me there. Obviously comparing him and Clemance is stupid but he's nowhere near as good as people make out. Andrea Pirlo is just a half decent footballer, he's not especially creative, fast, skillfull, anything really, the only thing that gets him his place week in week out for Milan is his free kick taking abilities which I haven't been overly impressed with for awhile.
Joe. Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Gareth Williams is twice the player of Clemence, at least he can pass. No way Dan, you've got to be joking. Williams was never good for us consistently. At least we know Clemence has what it takes to potentially become a very valuable asset to us. Williams was never in that mould for me. I've got faith in Clemence. Who knows, after January perhaps with some better players playing with him he might be a different player. Only time will tell. But let's at least give him that before he continues to be slated.
Tommy G Posted 7 December 2007 Author Posted 7 December 2007 If were talking about AC then Gattuso is godly, the best defensive midfielder in the world. Incredibly underated rather than overated
Thracian Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Is it a case of not having any good managers or werent they here long enough? Its a nightmare how no one can seem to sort the players out. The Transfer Window doesn't help in that respect. New managers are lumbered with someone else's mistakes whatever.
Asha Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 I don't think Clemence is overated. On his day he can be the best player in the league, and on others he's total shit. His only consistancy is his unconsistancy and so could be doing a lot better

He (Durnerz) wasn't comparing Clemence to Pirlo in that sense, just the way they play their games. Pirlo is one of the best defensive mifielders in the world. But no, you're always right, so i'll just leave it there.

Intelligent :-D Obviously your entitled to your opinion, I just don't think mine would be as isolated as you think, Ric agrees with me for one!
Bert Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Intelligent :-DObviously your entitled to your opinion, I just don't think mine would be as isolated as you think, Ric agrees with me for one! So, that's two people and probably a few more. I think more rate Pirlo than them that don't. Just because you think that, doesn't mean it's true. Yes, it's the same for me as well, i know. It's just the arrogance about it all that annoys me.

Head Honcho Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 The jury is still out for me! He's one of our best players but I think that say's more about the shoite we have here then anything else.
Dr The Singh Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Phew!! Come on davieg, I could never have a dig at you!!!!!!!!
