Manwell Pablo Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 So, that's two people and probably a few more. I think more rate Pirlo than them that don't. Just because you think that, doesn't mean it's true. Yes, it's the same for me as well, i know. It's just the arrogance about it all that annoys me. Berty, me arrogant. I have confidence in my opinion but I admit it's not fact. I would put IMO in front of everything to make it appear less like I was preching (in fact I did use to do that) but then the admins get annoyed and tell me off for doing that, as apparently everything I type is just my opinion so I don't need to state that it is.

Daggers Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 It's just the arrogance about it all that annoys me. Bert accuses someone else of arrogance? Priceless.
Bryn Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Only me? He's over rated I'm quite sure alot of people will agree with me there. Obviously comparing him and Clemance is stupid but he's nowhere near as good as people make out. Andrea Pirlo is just a half decent footballer, he's not especially creative, fast, skillfull, anything really, the only thing that gets him his place week in week out for Milan is his free kick taking abilities which I haven't been overly impressed with for awhile. One of the world's best passers, one of the world's best playmakers. I'd say he was one of the most creative, skilful footballers out there.

Bryn Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 You're aware I'm not talking about Clemence aren't you?
nickm Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 he looked good in the birmingham side last season because he was surrounded by good players, they let him go because he knew he wasn't good enough for the premiership-nuff said!

Bert Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Bert accuses someone else of arrogance? Priceless. Yes. You're right. I'm arrogant.
ronnup Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Yes. You're right. I'm arrogant. Like Top Gun! That's right i am dangerous..... Just get that thread started tomorrow, not sure whether i'm looking forward to it or not..
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 One of the world's best passers, one of the world's best playmakers. I'd say he was one of the most creative, skilful footballers out there. he's not even the best at any of those things at Milan so I don't know how you can say that.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 as an aside, whats your opinion on this Zef. Pirlo? I don't see enough of him to make a proper judgment to be honest. Whenever I've seen him I've been impressed though. I can see the Clemence comparison, they are both fairly slow, deep-lying central midfielders who seem to have plenty of time on the ball and look for incisive passes. Clemence isn't helped by the lack of quality around him but he's still been pretty average this season. I still think him and Weso in the middle could work but one of them has to gamble more and spend longer in dangerous areas higher up the pitch. Both seem to sit in front of the back four and it means the support to the front two is appalling from the middle of the pitch.
nickm Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 most birmingham fans were very disappointed that clemence left, and he could cut it in the prem, given the chance how could he cut it in the prem if he can't cut it against the likes of burnley and preston?

Manwell Pablo Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 Even if he wasn't the best at AC Milan, can he still not be good at these things?? Well of course he's good at them Bert he's payed 70 grand a week and plays for the European Champions. I'm not saying he's wank (although I do know people who would say that) I'm just saying he's massively over rated imo, Burnhams post "He's one of the best at this in the world, best at that in the world" is an example. I wouldn't even have him down as a top 10 serie A midfielder.

Father Ted Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 It might just be me, but I think Clemence has been largely dissapointing for us since his summer move.I was hoping (along with a large number of other people) that he would be somewhat of a God in the centre of the park for us ala a new Muzzy Izzet. This so far has not been the case. He was such an influencial player for Birmingham last season and was paramount to them getting promoted. He was however surrounded by quality players in every area of the pitch, unlike at city. I think that has been the key factor this season for him. The lack of quality in our squad has sucked him into the same level as the 'average joe's' in our line-up, he only seems to shine when surrounded by other decent players as last season proved. From the games I've been to I haven't seen a performance to warrant the hype that was surrounding him when he moved. He has shown some neat touches and little sparkles during the game where his quality shines through but it's not on a consistant basis. I have no doubt however that when he is settled and we bring a bit more quality in then he will find his feet as show everyone what he is capable of.... Totally agree, after watching him have 3 poor games in a row. He is VERY overated and should not be starting. On too many times he gives the ball away too easily and is never seen. He never gets involved in the rough stuff, which is what Kenton and Weso do so well.
AyewJoking Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 Perhaps Clemence is a luxury player we dont need when we are hoofing and scrapping???
Tommy G Posted 8 December 2007 Author Posted 8 December 2007 What a dissapointment is all I can say. After the expectations of when he came to the club. He needs good players to look good himself I think.
Lovejoy Posted 24 February 2008 Posted 24 February 2008 Clemence was absoulute garbage yesterday. The game just passed him by, and to be quite frank, it seems to most weeks. And it looks from the outside like his leadership skills are practically non-existent . Surely Weso or King have to be given an opportunity soon?
Thracian Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 Clemence was absoulute garbage yesterday. The game just passed him by, and to be quite frank, it seems to most weeks. And it looks from the outside like his leadership skills are practically non-existent . Surely Weso or King have to be given an opportunity soon? I don't know but have to wonder if Weso's upset Holloway. Everyone's aware that Weso's a big mate of Shush! and it seems a strange coincidence that arguably our second best midfield player has had just one minute - coming off the bench against Plymouth - since Shush! left. Yes, he's on a long contract - til July 2011 - but something sems to have radically changed. It's ridiculous if he's simply another part of Holloway's purge of the youngsters and reliance instead on experience, so what's the truth? It's not form and fitness because his 90-minute midfield performance last time out against Wolves reserves was as good as I've seen from any City player this season. January 19 against Norwich was his last start for City which must have been close to Shush!'s departure day. His previous start was West Brom on December 8. Okay, injury would have played a part but something doesn't seem right ?
