Webbo Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 If you check the score predictions thread in the Competitions forum you'll see I knew we would lose today. Well that's a consolation. Ollie is the man to sort us out. Look at the tremendous win at Bristol City and the inspired fight against Cardiff. Seeing as we were shit and lost today remember he still needs time, its not even his squad. Bollocks. He started with Cort and still lets our defence hoof it despite the fact it gets us nowhere. I don't think anyone is blaming Ollie yet. He needs a month or 2 and a player or 2 at least to turn this around.
Leicester Lass Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 What was the penalty for Handball against Clemence.
AyewJoking Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Well that's a consolation.I don't think anyone is blaming Ollie yet. He needs a month or 2 and a player or 2 at least to turn this around. It bloody well is a consolation. Should have put a bet on, stayed inside where its warm and I'd have made money rather than lose some. I agree Ollie needs time but some people were hyping him up after an admittedly good away win and a disappointing home draw but we didnt concede in either of those games so hes got the defence spot on.
Koke Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Handball against Clemence. A rather harsh handball I thought. But sometimes its given against, other times for you.
Webbo Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 A rather harsh handball I thought. But sometimes its given against, other times for you. It definitely hit his hand, you could argue that it wasn't deliberate but if it had been against us we would have expected it to be given.
Simi Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Holloway is disgusted with the penalty decsion. He's going mad on SSN right now. Wow
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 A rather harsh handball I thought. But sometimes its given against, other times for you. Well name a time it was given for us then???
mickydeeeuk Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Ollie is right. Carl Cort isn't great by any means but he's been used as a scape goat more often than not. And the same happened this afternoon. Totally un-called for when they showed his number the majority of the crowd booed him. i wouldnt say the crowd booed him off?? more ironic cheers of relief! the guy played awful and didnt look interested, if he wasnt fit (what a fookin surprise!) he shouldnt have played or certainly shouldnt have come out second half! I never actually boo our players but i must admit i do get very angry and shout at em if i think they are not justifying there place in the side. i call that passion??
MPH Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 i personally think the Defence AND Fulop look a bit more unsteady withgout the influence of N'Gotty in there.... I dont care really how Kaebi plays at RB in the reserves, surely he cant be any worse than Newton on the right???
RowlattsFox Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Not good enough today, Ollie has found out today what a difficult job he has got. I'm not making excuses but any team would struggle with 3 of their best strikers out, especially the only 3 that have looked like scoring recently, its difficult to change a game when you have got 2 kids on the bench who are quite clearly not ready for first team football. I couldnt see the penalty but it did look harsh. No doubt Cort, Newton and Stearman will get all the abuse from the fans because they are made scapegoats everytime we lose but I thought the worst player on the pitch was Iain Hume, he should have scored in the early stages. He has lost all his confidence infront of goal and he doesnt even work as hard as he used too to make up for his limitations. He is supposed to be a striker so why the fook his he always hovering around outside the box waiting for the ball. Stephen Clemence is trying to do a job he is not used to doing, he is not and never will be a playmaker. He is at his best when he his sitting front of the back four winning the ball and keeping things ticking over, he is instead trying to be the spray passes around and be the creative influence in midfield when he isnt good enough to do that. Every team that comes to the Walkers Stadium no matter where they are in the league always seem to be far superior on the ball than us, is that because the players are scared on the ball or they are just not good enough? Stearman never has much option infront of him, if he hoofs it he gets abuse, if he goes backwards he gets abuse, he cant win. I would rather we went backwards if it meant we kept possesion but everytime a ball is played backwards there is load of groans from the stand. Although today wasnt good enough we still have chances to get something out of the game, Hume, Cort and Kisnorbo all should have scored. I think Ollie will sort the problems out.

Leicester Lass Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Agreed, I can't believe how many headers we won in their box but we never made their keeper make a save from them. We had 3 free headers at the back stick in the second half if I remember correctly, and not one was on target.
Darkzzz_ Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Im not going to start jumping on players backs here, all i want to say on cort is that he was poor today... Clem was dire... i thought he was shocking... not the same player as last season for brum but thats for another day....... Anyway we all know the manager situation has not helped at all.... but my question is do we have a formation and team that can/or want to play for each other other.... from my seat i dont think we have that spirit and it hurts to see that..... Holloway, long term will be good (i hope) he has the right frame of mind and that right character to manage this club.... he cant get his magic wand out and perform miracles with a team that is as intersting as watching paint dry.... We need some new faces in and we need players with fight and passion who want to win and who want to further themselves and our club..... We obviously want this to happen overnight but like life these things just do not happen..... so we will be there as always.... following our club.... staying hopefull and trying to get it right..... C'mon Ollie.... we have faith...
WetFlannel Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 well i sat in the kop and made myself look like a right twat when i stood up for 'stand up if you love leicester', at least my i had my horn
Koke Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Credit to Saints. They ran the midfield today. That little midget Nathan Dyer was a handful at times. Youssef Safri and Andrew Surman did a good job and Stern John held the ball really well. They deserved the 3 points. I ain't seen the penalty replay but it did look rather harsh at first although I was sitting quite far away. But nevertheless, sometimes its given sometimes its not. Apart from Hume, no othjer recognized strikers was available so we had to throw in Big Ricky and Ashley Chambers who are quite clearly not ready for 1st team action. Jonathan Hayes did OK. He put in some good crosses and ran at Ifil when he could, but often he was drifting into the middle and there was ocean of space on the left. It was a shite afternoon but I still feel optimistic about the future. Most of us we would probably lose but I did have a feeling we could and should have gotten something out of the game.
MPH Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Is it me or is Clemence slightly over-rated? He only seems to have young lads playing around him... i think if he had older more seasoned pros around him it would give him that little bit more freedom to do the things and find the space that he did at birmingham... to perform to his potential.
DB11 Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Well name a time it was given for us then??? I remember one! Muzzy Izzet was storming into the box against Man City in the 03/04 season and handballed it but the ref didn't give it and then I think it hit the other guy on the hand (Muzzy pushed it) or something and then everyone started fighting, Fruend came running over from the subs bench we all got a big fine and Dickov missed the penalty meaning the game ended 1-1
stevec Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Total waste of space and time today! First 5 minutes I thought we werer going to woop them - but them we slowed down and never got going again. When you have a team which consisting of 5 "development" players at the end and the likes of Cort and Newton who between them seem on drugs with the inability to do anything right (or even attempt to) and an almightly off day for Clemence - it was never going to be any different. If we had 10 Humes we would walk the League. McCuley starting to concern me as well - he's a liability with feet anywhere near the box. We chickened out of so many situations - dangerous area edge of box - turn and face goal or pass it pretty much back to the defense eventually? - Guess what we were doing! Shambles. 1 Midfielder and 1 "fit" Striker desperately needed - still.
The Reverend Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 As someone else has said, it seems like Clemence is trying to play the creative role, when that just is'nt his role. Where was all this creativity from King, because thats supposed to be his role. Clemence made mistakes because he took risks. Dont criticise him for that.
Staf Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Holloway's press conference - says all players tried and angry with fans for booing Cort - as I wasn't there is this fair? This is the first time holloway has seen him play doesent he understand we have seen carl cort try and play football enough this season
Joe. Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 Well- Match Report: We lost and weren't very good. But let's not forget the more important things we can draw from today: Cort (Sappleton 66) :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:
WetFlannel Posted 1 December 2007 Posted 1 December 2007 I booed cort today, however i suppose maybe i shouldnt of... its spur of the moment really, he played bad - not for the first time... it just exasperates me how i go to games to see the same old story... KINGS GOAL - ORGASMIC
