The Hangover Thread

I had that Sunday morning... and afternoon. My stomach also felt like some kind of void within my person.

It didn't make for a good few hours at work. :S

Company Christmas party on Saturday night.

I work Sunday... as usual. That's going to prove interesting. :ermm:

A repeat performance of a week ago. Eerily similar feelings to the ones I had exactly one week ago. I drank more this time, though.

My mouth is as dry as the desert and my stomach is again feeling void-like.

I work in a few hours time, too, and to top it off it's bloody snowing something fierce out there at the minute. :S

Still, did enjoy the party last night.

Best way I know of to minimise/avoid hangovers and the associated 'gonna chuck at any second' feeling is to take Milk Thistle tablets. They're available in health food shops, chemists, etc - chances are you'll even find 'em in your local supermarket, and they're cheap. Best ones, imo, are the ones you dissolve into a glass of water or, alternatively, you can get a tincture that you drop straight onto your tongue. Take it before drinking heavily if you're smart enough to remember and asap after a major drinking session.

Milk Thistle was originally recommeneded to me when I worked in PR and drinking to extreme on a daily basis was all just 'part of the job'. This was one of the insider tips - and I find it certainly helps. Back then, I was taking the tablets on a daily basis - which you can do - but now I just use them when I know I'm gonna be drinking to excess. Very simply - and I'm no expert - Milk Thistle helps the liver to break down and detoxify pollutants (such as alcohol and nicotine) more effectively - thus kicking all the crap out of your system much more quickly.

Obviously I'm not suggesting binge drinking is a good idea but, let's face it, many folks are gonna do it and you might as well make it as painless as possible and minimise the adverse effects on your system.

I've spent all day recovering from a very nasty hangover. It was one of them ones when i question the student life and consider quitting drinking full stop.

Then again i shall be out again next weekend Nonetheless.

I went out last night, and was up at 7.30am for work this morning, when I first got up was ok, but as day's gone on the headache and hangover gradually got worse.

Had my Christmas party a few weeks ago but I think everyone from work is going out for Christmas drink tonight aswell...I can't really be bothered, Hangover's almost gone now, but i'm knackered.

Went out last night for our Xmas work do.

A great mixture of beer, champagne, wine and a sambuca shot thrown in. Nice thing is there was no hangover today

Out of interest, what do people consider to be the best cure for a hangover?

Lucozade Sport is amazingly good after a night out. As is any kind of juice like Apple and Blackcurrant, for example. Last night I got in, Apple and Blackcurrant, bed.
