davieG Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Chairboys end Douglas stay Leicester goalkeeper Rab Douglas has had his loan spell at League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderes terminated by mutual consent. The 35-year-old joined the Chairboys in October as back-up for on-loan Blackburn youngster Frank Fielding but made just one appearance - in last week's 2-2 draw with Hereford. Fielding missed that game for personal reasons but returned for last Saturday's 6-0 hammering at Stockport which was Wycombe's heaviest ever Football League defeat. Douglas was the fifth goalkeeper to appear for Paul Lambert's side this season.
Matt Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Yeah I saw him getting out his nice shiney new posh Audi 4x4 on Saturday and wondered what he was doing back. Can still afford this nice car though Alright for some
SamL Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Hopefully he had an offer from another club for a more permanent move in January? Now that would be nice. Whens he out of contract anyway, the summer?
Jack Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Hopefully he had an offer from another club for a more permanent move in January? Now that would be nice. Whens he out of contract anyway, the summer? Yupp, contract is out in the summer. Hopefully we can shift him before then but i highly doubt it.
Nationwider Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 The size of our squad come the end of January could be truly horrific. It is literally crazy-bonkers that a club in our predicament still has the likes of De Vries, Douglas, Henderson, Kenton, Maybury, Hellings, Neilsen (probably sp. wrong, I know), various random foreign wingers and a few others cluttering up the squad as bit part players.

Can we not end their contracts by mutual consent?
Steven Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Can we not end their contracts by mutual consent? The players might not be so "mutual".
Geo V Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Lets face it, when his former Celtic team mate Paul Lambert who I presume is still manager down there decides to cancel Rabs contract, you have official confirmation that he is indeed a shower of shite. Offer him whatever he wants to go back to Scotland as he has been yet another waste of space and waste of money from the buying department of Leicester
Matt Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 The players might not be so "mutual". Why not?! Getting there contracts paid off in full and instead of going through the effort off turning up in person for the games and doing fuk all, they won't even have the effort of getting there lazy arse's to the games. I'm sure they'd be very mutual about.

Matt Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 Bonuses? Im not sure but Rab knows his career is coming to the end and he will continue to milk the paydays whilst he can. Let's be fair, Rab ain't got any future (playing wise) at this club, he ain't getting no bonuses here (I don't know how it works, loan wise, whether his bonuses still count and the club that are loaning him have to pay i'm not sure, I'd doubt it to be honest)

He was linked to Motherwell and Gretna and didnt bother, gets a temporary coaching role for us and then goes on loan. Im sure the club has offered to terminate his contract and meet somewhere in the middle but he probably wants to be paid out the lot and thats why he is still with us.

Harpenden Fox Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 I think Newton should be added to the clutter list. And it seems like Ollie agrees given he hasn't featured in the last couple of squads.

I'm sure they'd be very mutual about. There's no monetry benefit to the club if we pay up in full in advance in fact there's a big loss of interest so unless the players in question are prepared to take a reduction for early cancellation of contracts as in 'mutual consent' it aint going to happen.

I'm sure they'd be very mutual about. I think Suffolk meant terminate the contracts by mutual consent, i.e they leave and getnothing and just find another club. In which case its highly doubtful they will be mutual about it. Players such as Douglas,we have no chance of shifting. They'd rather sit here earning there there 10k a week than have to drop down divisions and pay divisions. Rather stay and collect their packet til the contract runs out.
Micky Ruddle Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 SIGN HIM UP, SIGN HIM UP, SIGN HIM UP. Seriously Tevez.
PAULCFC Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Yeah I saw him getting out his nice shiney new posh Audi 4x4 on Saturday and wondered what he was doing back. Can still afford this nice car though Alright for some So the Bently is in the garage while he was playing for a team in the rural south
Monk Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 It would be interesting to see a list of when the players in our current squad are contracted until. No hope of selling Douglas. Let his contract expire and accept it was a horrendously ill judged signing.
wirralsimon Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Sadly, he is coming back to us! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/7141187.stm Simon
The Stig Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Now he's back promotin is assured. I wouldn't be happy with the play ofs.
lookwhaticando Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 I think Suffolk meant terminate the contracts by mutual consent, i.e they leave and getnothing and just find another club. Ha Ha. About as likely as discovering the Dodo has been living in Sunderland for the last three hundred odd years. Besides, mutual consent would surely require some kind of compensation at least - perhaps not the full amount outlined in the initial contract itself, but something at least. Players aren't going to surrender 6-18 months of lucrative income just to find themselves another club (and be paid a hell of a lot less). Would you? It would be interesting to see a list of when the players in our current squad are contracted until. No hope of selling Douglas. Let his contract expire and accept it was a horrendously ill judged signing. Comprehensive list. Sheehan expires at the end of this season. As do Dodds, Kenton, de Vries and Hammond. A large block of the current squad is contracted for another season (to July 2009) - including Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Cort. Until Summer 2010, we have the likes of Hume, Clemence, Mattock, Chambers & Hayes. And Wesolowski and DJ Campbell are here until 2011. The rest (mostly the shit signed this summer) are typically here until 2009.
