Thracian Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 I've been going for forty years since Shilton and before. Believe me, a relegation side has a certain feel about it, and unfortunately that's happening here this year. Promises of players that never materialise, rumours of fallouts amongst the playing staff, performances that get worse and worse, it's a momentum. I don't know everything, but I smell what I've smelt before, and no amount of Mandaric's money will stop it, even if he wanted to spend it on players ( which is not a foregone conclusion... he is not known as a spendthrift ). Leeds were too good to go down....twice! So were the Notts Tree folk. As another veteran fan I fear you're right. We've flirted with relegation already and that was a warning. The football's been dreadful for ages but now the results are bad too and the same air of gloom that's hung over the first team enveloped the reserves at Nottingham - and the dugout too - two things I've never noticed before. Word goes around in football. Your club is either the place to be, the place to avoid or something in between and, sadly, I don't think we tick the first and third boxes right now. It's as if the sporting Gods thought Holloway sold his soul to the devil Defence at Burnley cos nothing's gone right since then. It's almost like we've been made to pay the penalty, literally and the effect on morale has been pronounced. Fanciful that may be but, for sure, tactless or counter-productive press comments have only turned scattered grey clouds into a widespread depression and we may now be about as appealing to quality signings as Christmas is to turkeys. We're a football club and both words of that title are being forgotten. We've got to cut out these own goals, stop feeling sorry for ourselves and start the painstaking task of changing our luck and our mood. We'll only do that by making good decisions and showing some belief in ourselves.
Monk Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Yes we are only one point off the bottom of the table, but we're also only 2 points off 17th. As it stands there are effectively 9 teams in the relegation race, not 5 like people have been making out. Long way to go yet guys. I'm sure there will be some painful games but I am reasonably confident we can stay up.
Ultra Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Of course, I dont want it to happen but a season in league 1 would be an enjoyable season, as long as we are guaranteed promotion Plus a trip to Wembley to complete a League 1/Johnstone's Paint double. Let's face it, sooner or later we're going to fall through the relegation trapdoor, just like Forest and Leeds did. And the evidence of too many recent games (especially at home) suggests this may be the season. I'd almost prefer a season of success in League 1 to yet ANOTHER season of dross at Chamionship level.

Where does it say we're guaranteed to be a success if we got relegated to League 1?
filbertway Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Where does it say we're guaranteed to be a success if we got relegated to League 1? Even the most pessimistic or retarded surely wouldn't expect us to finish outside the top 8 in League 1, it truely is (bruce) Dyer.
The Pinge Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 I don't think league one would be easy at all, there are still teams getting results against the favourites. Luton beat Forest and Forest reserves stuffed us - big squad or no bid squad. I think we would struggle big time - who'd want to play for us in Lge 1.
James. Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 WE WILL NOT GET RELEGATED. I'm willing to say this over and over and over again. If I'm wrong I will leave this forum forever on a wave of embarrassment and humiliation.
C.J Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 C'mon lads, glass half full. Theres still half a season to go yet.
ronnup Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 C'mon lads, glass half full. Theres still half a season to go yet. Sunderland anyone?
MPH Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 [/b]Not really they have all been winning games and we havent also they have better players than us at the minute um... They are below us. it means they havnt got as many points as us
MPH Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 Our attendances would probably be poor initially but If we were involved in a promotion challenge then i reckon we would get mid-20,000s.All ifs and buts though isnt it. we are one of a group of only 8 or 9 professional clubs in england never to of played outside the top two divisions. lets keep it that way!!
Geo V Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 If we got relegated we`d come straight back up, just like Forest have done
Dames Posted 20 December 2007 Posted 20 December 2007 We wouldn't come back up for a while thats for sure. But i don't want to think about that.
Raj Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 If we get relagated how do you think we weill do in leage 1 I aint reading all the pages... We will bounce back automatically...easily...no problemo.....EASY!!!!!
Big Time Charlies Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Good God! Can't believe this is being discussed and we're still in December!!! From the sounds of it we may as well let the team pack up and take an early holiday cos this season is as good as over - or is that just a load of pesimistic old sh*t?!?!?!
