Ultra Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 Yep I used to sit in E3 under the battered Pepsi sign & I know the frustrations of starting siongs and no one below the top 3 rows of seating sings. The problem with the South Stand is that it has far too few people who wish to sing and they are all thinly spread along the top. This used to mean that different songs would be sung, and one block may not join in with the other blocks songs! Strange but did happen.I know you and the lot up there and I know you all do sing lots, honestly believe you are wasting your time and you should get over to L1. I was not a fan of L1 until I moved over and that was it for me. People sing together and is by far better than the South Stand.

Thats whats missing in the Kop which is one of the advantages of moving the Kop but unfortunately thats nowhere near being arranged at the moment. I was in L for the Fulham game last season but that wasn't exactly the best of games to be there as there was only about 3 Fulham fans. I sat in K yesterday, and after witnessing both there and the South stand I know where I'd rather be. I did have a season ticket there for a few seasons but I'm a little young to remember.

Yesterday was one of the VERY rare occasions where the away fans failed to outsing L1. The Kop was fine in its first two seasons, even though it had to incorporate the flask and blanket brigade from the former Filbo upper tier. Given success on the pitch, it could be again. L1 on the other hand will never be anything other than a home for chavs and wannabe hardmen.

Anyway, the Ipswich fans were poor yesterday, only about 6 of them stood on the back row which I was very surprised about but with their away record I was hardly surprised. I spoke to a Town fan after and he said he just didn't feel like singing after the first 10 minutes. I wonder how many of the people in this thread have been to games away from home this season when we have been dreadful.

In fact I think L1 is partly comprised of people who want to try and recreate the Kop atmosphere from Filbert Street which was mainly possible due to the close proximity of the away fans. I had a season ticket in the middle of the Kop for the first two years at the Walkers and it was fairly good but it has died off more and more every season and this year I've got a season ticket again at the back of F1 and it has been shocking. There are small pockets to our left and right that make a really good stab at some atmosphere but there are far too many people in there who are only interested in moaning. Any excuse yesterday we still had morons getting on players backs at 2-0 up. Praise be, there were fewer than normal but it was still ludicrous. Anyone from the Kop having a go at L1 for a lack of atmosphere smacks of the pot calling the kettle black - and that's coming from someone who has a season ticket there. There will always be this divide as people are too proud to move to one of the two areas. Personally I would be more interested in L1 next season just because I prefer a bit of atmosphere and I like to stand at football matches.

I have to sit in the East Stand when I go with my old man, the seats are about half -way between L1 and the kop. When I look over at L1 I can see them all having a go but can never hear fook all from them. The kop on the other hand which appears to be just a few select geezers at the top singing and then a bunch of OAPS clapping, always seems pretty loud. Fair play to those geezers who start the chants at the top of the kop, it makes a big difference despite most people not joining in.

I would more than happily sit in L1 (and nope, I am neither a chav nor a wannabe hardman ) as the atmosphere - and noise - in there simply cannot be matched elsewhere in the stadium. Unfortunately, so long as the club insists on it being ST holders only, it ain't gonna happen. I agree, though, that the top of K1 is the next best thing, as far as atmosphere goes.

I didn't really disprove of it and even joined in myself a couple of times if I'm honest. The point being, most peoples' opinion on it was the same - it was considered just a bit of banter, whearas if L1 did that now then suddenly they'd all be branded 'thugs' and 'hooligans'.

Yeah it is dangerous, that's not really the thing I'm debating here. I'm just saying I see some members on here make comments about the good old coin throwing days of the kop and then say that L1 is full of 'wannabe hooligans', when clearly they don't do anything as close to hooliganism as throwing physical objects at other fans.

Too many games away from home when we have been dreadful I missed Hull/Ipswich/Burnley but unfortunately I saw the shyte at Charlton, Forest 1st, Plymouth
