Collins John

It always amazes me how quickly our fans get on players backs. If you're asking me if i'd rather have Hume (who runs around a lot, puts loads of effort in, but doesnt score anywhere near required), Fryatt, who is decent, but IMO is almost as lazy as John, or Collins John, who has proven pedigree, has played for Holland, has scored in the Premiership (which shows he can play as we all know the vast gulf in class), i think i'll take John.

Given two good midfielders, and given enough time to get 100% fit, he would rip this division to pieces. FACT. Get over it. He has still scored 2 goals in about 6 or 7 starts, and he has'nt been fit for 80% of those games.

Judging from the ipswich and charlton matches, I wasn't very impressed with him. He doesn't make much of an attempt to put pressure on the defenders and doesnt show any desire to play for leicester.

He's hardly been prolific in the premiership or for Holland has he so I can't see where you're getting this "proven pedigree" from, that's the reason why they farmed him out to us in the first place.

And furthermore if he can't get 100% fit at his age after all this time then questions must be asked.

Sounds like people would rather have somebody with no ability, run around and look like he wants to play for the club as opposed to a player that does have talent being a little lazy.

Hume better than Berbatov then? :P

Does Howard even want to leave Derby? He has started most games recently so i dont see why he would drop a league when he is playing every week in the premiership?

I went to the game today and the game against ipswich and in my opinion he is lazy, cannot shoot and doesnt chase anything or make any runs like strikers should.Cant wait till his loan deal expires. We need a big striker who can shoot, hold up and defend and we need him soon.

Totally agree - waste of time. I've seen him make the runs - but not enough of them. Today his reactions were slower than my dead cat - before he injured himself stepping over the penalty spot.

He may be forced out if Jewell declares he doesn't want him (hopefully anyway).

I'm not too fussed about his work ethic and long as he can score goals but I'm am concerned that he seems like a big girls blouse and goes down holding some part of his body as a result of any physical contact.

I think he needs 1/2 hour with the Rugby boys to show him what real pain is!

Absolutely.

The man is a bell-end. The slightest tap sends him flying to the floor in the hope that he can gain access to the warmth of the treatment room. He has had ample time to prove himself and he has failed to make the requisite effort for my liking.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is the last time we see him don a City shirt.

I must admit I was excited when he signed but if he's not scoring and is always injured then I can't see the point of signing him

Daggers is probably right, I don't think he'll play for us again.

Very good point....

We all know the huge difference between the prem and the champ, but what your post doesnt do is address what is needed to make it good in the championship...

I think the championship is alot more physical than the prem ( and thats physical enough as it is!) What we need are players who are willing to get stuck in and mix it with the tough guys, and who can stick with it when he is getting his ankles kicked a bit... Its probably a bit too early to say wether Collins had what it takes to do all that, but i think what people have said is that they know thats somthing Stevie Howard is at this level - he's proven that bhe can hack it..

And then when we get to the prem, Get Collins back

Yes, of course the Championship is more physical than the Premiership, without doubt. But look at the lad, are you telling me he cant handle himself on the pitch? Oh he gets injured every game, blaqh blah blah, he aint 100% fit!

A fit Collins John would get 20 goals a season in this division.

Look at strikers such as Marlon King, Kevin Phillips, Jamie Cureton - by no means big roughhouses, but they know where the net is and i think give Collins a goal or 2,he would be the same. It helps to be physical in this league, but it isnt a necessity.

 He has no desire, you can see it weeping from every pore in his body. He is firmly ensconced in his own personal comfort zone; he has nothing to play for.

One thing is for sure - if he does ever score 20 goals in the Championship it won't be in a City shirt.

Well that is your opinion and i have given mine. I just think he is severely lacking in fitness, every time he seems to be gradually getting there... bam, hes injured again.

I'm sure if you went to watch Van Nistlerooy for one game and he didnt score i bet you would think he was the worst and laziest player in the world. You dont need to work like Hume to be a good striker, and its a difficult position to make yourself look like your actually doing something. I have no doubts John would destroy this division

Van Nistlerooy

I saw this in your post and realised that anything you said was invalidated.

If you'd like to re-post without likening John to his world class Dutch counterpart I'll be all ears
