Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I was pleased with Clemence today and it was great to see him finally score again. Has given me four of my favourite goal celebrations this season now - the two corners for our goals at Palace, the winner at Forest and then today.
Joe. Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I liked McAuley and Kisnorbo today, thought Kisnorbo just edged it. And how the hell does Stearman have more votes than both of these two?!
Simi Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 cos he was pish today? Indeed he was. It seems running about clouds a lot of peoples views of him. He needs to learn that when he's playing up front he has to stay there and not drop to deep. Fryatt kept getting isolated and having no options to pass to.
Lamby Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Did you go to the game? No But he deserves it if he rescued us from losing, ah the joys of scoring in the 90th min.
SamL Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 No But he deserves it if he rescued us from losing, ah the joys of scoring in the 90th min. No he doesn't, he had a poor game. And the goal well, that was poor play on our part rather than great play from him. He won't ever do that one again.

DB11 Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I thought he had a good game, very composed which is unlike the Paddy we know. Really? He couldn't control the ball and when he kicked it they were mis kicks
teblin Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Clemence definitely. As his fitness is improving so are his performances. A few weeks ago people were slating him but he'd only just come back from injury. He bossed the midfield today and I thought he played well. I'm not too sure about his set pieces though, weren't the best today but were pretty good on wednesday. Clemence should leave the set pieces to Sheehan. Keep it up Clem. Should not be in the 1st team as he is not good enough. Clem was the best player by far.
Thracian Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 I originaly felt that Fryatt was MoM but on reflection I think Stearman pipped him. Clemence too was in contention with his goal and improved performance but his foul which led to their equaliser pushed him back Stearman not only followed his goal in the last match with the assist for the goal which should have given us victory yesterday but he was once again fully concentrated on the job, quick, incisive, full of energy and forevetr willing to drive himself forward. No-one had a great game but he had a lot of +'s and very little to criticise.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Charlton wouldn't have got possession from the free-kick in the corner that lead to their goal(Weaver took it) if the linesman wasn't such an idiot. There we were, keeping the ball in the corner for once, wasting time (which I don't really like but if it meant us keeping possession then I don't care), when the linesman reckons Clemence has elbowed their defender. He was one yard out and still got it wrong. I could sort of tell then that something was going to happen.

Bottom line is we didn't keep possession - and I've witnessed stacks of examples in previous matches to suggest we wouldn't keep possession. As for linesman being wrong, big deal. Did you expect him to have a personality transplant for the last five minutes or something? We changed our tactics, we played silly buggers when we should have hit the corner into their penalty box and we got exactly what we deserved.
blue blood Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Stearman seemed to play a lot better today, it seems that under oolway he could become a geat player Agreed.

That's fair enough I suppose, we should play to our strengths, and we had dealt with the Charlton attack well throughout the game. However, hitting crosses into their box would've done very little because everyone was so defensively minded in the last 10 minutes or so, so our strikers weren't pushing up, and McAuley and Kisnorbo (probably our most dangerous players when attacking balls in) stayed in defence, for which I can't blame them. Hayes' crosses were poor for the majority of the game because he wasn't playing on his favoured side, so then we would've given away possession and Charlton could've caught us on the break.
Mr Happy Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Fryatt was very good again, for the 2nd game running IMO.Very impressed with Clem today aswell. Agreed.

Asha Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 It's interesting how often the goalscorer is motm.
Joe. Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 Stearman seemed to play a lot better today, it seems that under oolway he could become a geat player Ok, hold on. Stearman. Great Player.
Thracian Posted 30 December 2007 Posted 30 December 2007 It's interesting how often the goalscorer is motm. Perhaps reflects how much it's noticed when we get one.

Corky Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 I've gone for Kenton, thought he was immense in the midfield, making some crunching tackles, and that brilliant tackle on the Charlton right-back that made the guy stay down, then got a load of abuse from L1 for it . Thought Kisnorbo was strong, made a great block in the first half, also Clemence, more like it Stevie, keep it up. Matty Fryatt was good today, showed real touches of quality, and Stearman had another good match. What's happened to him?
