Hayles

Yeah, stand by for more bitter and twisted rantings from the Argyle fans.

"Ollie Lied to us!!"

I expect there are a lot of people from Plymouth who are waiting for cheques in the post, confident that their arses don't look big and with a rather unexpected taste of man fat in their mouths...

I doubt it, I should think most of them will be happy to see the back of him and get a fee.

"It will be the third time that Hayles has worked under Holloway - having been introduced to league football by the City boss during his time at Bristol Rovers in 1997."

Please welcome the new Junior Lewis

Howard, I can just about stomach... but Hayles

As already mentioned, strikers however good (or bad) they are need service from midfield or it has to be route one stuff (MDV excepted  ),I pay good money to be entertained so the latter is not an option I would welcome even in the short term so come on Ollie get that midfield shorted out pronto!

Well Howard and Hayles says long ball to me, espeically in a side with no wingers.

Oh God... here we go again...

Experience and determination will help us through...

FFS!!! When will they learn that it doesn't work!!! Look at our history with oldies up front... hardly any of them have lasted any length of time at all!

Blake, Dublin, De Vries were all shite for us and hardly played... I can't see Hayles getting in the team much either...

Ollie has made it clear over the last few weeks that many of our problems are off the pitch as much as on it, and this is IMHO why he has signed Hayes as a senior pro. It may turn out to be successful signing even if he has a limited impact on the field.

This has nothing to do with Ollie 'raiding' his former club as I am guessing that Sturrock did not see him as a regular starter, and as he is 35 it was only fair to offer him the chance to move on (especially if there is a fee on offer)which is a different thing from us poaching one of their first team regulars.

We could afford to let Barry Hayles go, out of contract in June anyway. Looks like Dan Gosling is going to Everton, promising youngster not a first team regular can afford to let him go. However we have two goalscoring wide players in David Norris (Contract June 2009) and Peter Halmosi (Contracy June 2010) and I am sh**ing myself hoping Ollie does not come for either, would require big money I guess to persuade the board to part with either. Halmosi is ambitious for Premiership football so may not view Leicester as an attractive proposition, but we all know money talks. Hope Ollie finds wide men elsewhere.

More attractive than Plymouth I'd have thought.

Potentially, yes but come of it at the moment we're not attractive at all and the league doesn't lie - Who's higher? Leicester or Plymouth. Having said that I don't think Plymouth have it in them to be promoted.

I heard from a fairly reliable source that Ollie is interested in Paul Connolly, I don't know enough about the player to know if that would concern you or not.

To be honest he certainly is replaceable, not consistent enough in my eyes and when he has been suspended we have not missed him all that much.

I see that Lord Barrington of Hayles has done exactly what I predicted and got himself booked, not a great start for the year but I am sure when you make the rest of your transfer signings you will move out of the bottom three.

We missed Barrys chasing and effort today we were totally sh**e today, worst performance of the season but we are still just only out of the playoffs, given some time Barry will definately bring some fight to your team and todays result suggest you need it,.

These Plymouth fans do make me laugh. Connolly has been an everpresent in the Plymouth team for years and is highly thought of. He would be a great signing for us.........................unfortunately we famously have no need for another right back, having a whole team of them, so I would be rather perplexed at such a signing

He has been an everpresent under Holloway which is why you are linked with him however when suspended we did not miss him at all this is all I meant, you had the tighest defence in the league not so sure you have now, he is also a wing back and I beleive this is the sort of player to get the best out of Barry Hayles and Steve Howard.

We are supposed to be looking at new RB and Connolly has been linked with other teams so straight away that means he is coming to you.(lazy journos)

I was hoping when Holloway bid for Hayles and Norris it was just so Plymouth could avoid a selling on fee to Bolton..that's what was mentioned at the time

I'm totally underwhelmed that we have gone in for Hayles on his own...and paying out money for a player who is out of contract in 6 months time...I doubt there's anything he can offer us in that space of time that will warrant paying a transfer fee rather than waiting 6 months and getting him for free

I think this will prove to be a waste of money! Hope I'm wrong!

He didn't impress me today and I don't see the point in signing a 35 year old striker who isn't big enough to win headers and isn't quick enough to frighten defenders. He's got to improve.

true but highly unlikely that at 35 there will be much improvement ,

what the **** is ollie doing

Well, from my friends that made the trip to Loftus Road, there wasn't a lot of complements paid to Hayles barring the fact he tried hard......well I don't think that is going to win us the championship. Sounds like he was too slow to catch a cold.

Either it's an old pal's act from Holloway's perspective or he's here for coaching.......................if so, I hope he's on a coach's wages.

It's reading back through threads like this it makes you realise just how far we've come.

Barry Hayles.

lol

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the thread title at the top lol too right we've come a huge way since then, even since last season I feel we've made huge strides. Kind of funny when some people were complaining a week into the close season about how we hadn't signed anyone yet !
