davieG Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Crewe are considering a bid for Leicester City youngster Max Gradel, who got a standing ovation at Gresty Road earlier this season. Gradel, who has spent most of the season on loan at Bournemouth, received plenty of attention in Crewe after his one man show saw Bournemouth thrash the Alex 4-0 earlier this season. Gradel returned to Leicester on January 3rd after a six month loan with Bournemouth but whilst Bournemouth are keen to re-capture him, it is understood the Alex are ready to make a move. The 20 year old is described as a very tricky, fast right winger and anyone who saw him at Gresty Road earlier this season won't be disappointed if Steve Holland snaps him up. Source
Ric Flair Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I really do not see why we should be loaning Max out again. Keep him for competition with Borat.
Ric Flair Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 We should learn the luke varney lesson! What's that? Convert yourself to Quorn, die your hair blonde and then move to London? I whole heartedly agree.
The People's Hero Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 What's that? Convert yourself to Quorn, die your hair blonde and then move to London?I whole heartedly agree. Quorn pie for me tonight then. And some lurrrrve pie afterwards (with added quorn).
SamL Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Hope this isn't true as he sounds like a pretty decent young player. He keeps getting shipped out on loan and it's unfair on him, i'd like to see him being given a chance and give Bori a run for his money. Would be nice to see some competition for wingers in the starting 11 which we haven't been to used to in recent years,
Jimmy Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Footballing wise, if he ain't going to play this season here there aren't many other clubs in that league that have the traditions for developing youngsters and decent football then Crewe, how ever I'd keep him here and have him on the bench most games
Ric Flair Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Quorn pie for me tonight then. And some lurrrrve pie afterwards (with added quorn). Give her Quorn in the David Gower.
Mort Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Everything i've heard about the kid is good, to be honest I'd be inclinded to start introducing him to the first team after his time at Bournmouth (which by all acounts went pretty well) and seeing how he does, depending on how it goes we can assess his options in the summer (retain, loan, sell...).
davieG Posted 11 January 2008 Author Posted 11 January 2008 CREWE have admitted defeat in their attempts to land Max Gradel on loan from Leicester City. The winger, who enjoyed a successful spell with Cherries before returning to his parent club at the start of this month, will not be moving to Gresty Road, according to Crewe's official website. Despite the story claiming that Gradel had "elected to rejoin" Cherries, boss Kevin Bond revealed to the Daily Echo that a deal had not yet been finalised. Source

Source They might have admitted defeat but given their eye for a good player you really would think that Leicester might want to use the lad instead of introducing yet more foreign hopefuls who might well need time to settle in at the very least - as doubtless will be evident in due course.
The People's Hero Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 I'd have been inclined to send him to Crewe on loan, get him playing in as many different styles with different players as possible. Unless, of course, we ARE planning to use him?
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 This would be good for him if its a loan. He's young has a lot of potential and needs to be nutured right.None better then Dario gradi at crewe to do it!
The People's Hero Posted 11 January 2008 Posted 11 January 2008 Dario has a good rep for sorting out players' temperaments too. I honestly can't think of a better club for him to go to on loan. EDIT: Apart from Maidstone Utd.

I met him once when took a one off training session for Birstall United when I was in the under 10's and I'm still shit at football.
