Gradel back on loan to Bournemouth

I agree to most of your points, however Holloway obviously believes that Howard, Hayles, Campbell, Hume, Lackzo, Bori are CURRENTLY better options than Gradel, and Oakley, Clemence, Wesolowski better options than King.

Therefore I would prefer to see them gaining proper match experience in a division where they will have to strengthen themselves both mentally and physically.

And ideally I would have wanted this to happen early doors so that we could be bringing them back now, tougher and ready to fight for the cause.

Would any of these youngsters be able to cope with the mental brittlety(?) caused by the fear and uncertainty that you mention above, or would playing for us in our current plight harm their development.

This is a genuine question as I do not go to resie games and you have more factual based knowledge having seen them play more than I have.

I would say the circumstances that Gradel is under at Bournemouth are pretty serious and stressful and from listening to fans they seem to be relying on Gradel to get them out of the mess - so no pressure there then!

It's a good question. And I can't see how almost anyone wouldn't suffer from our current lack of conviction.

But, to take the favoured midfielders first, I'm happy that Oakley, Clemence and Wesolowski are all good players but they do seem to be similar - like one-paced Duracell robots in the centre of the park who hussle and bustle but don't seem to create much from what I can recall.

The point about King is that he can shoot, he can head and he can create. I know we've not seen too much of it, partly I believe because he's been encouraged to do the safe and simple things which, judging by the seniors' attack on Mattock, I can well understand if not agree with.

I've mentioned goals and King can supplement our front men whereas Oakley, Weso and Clemence don't impress me as having great goals potential. My point is that if he's not there to add that possibility, be it on the bench or otherwise, we have no-one who can consistently fill that role.

The same really applied to Gradel. Holloway can believe what he likes but Gradel is a genuinely dangerous player.

He'd have probably found it easier than Laczko to settle and competition between the two young pretenders might have been helpful to both.

Now that potential goals threat has gone and, if Scott Sinclair doesn't materialise I fail to see how that potential will be replaced and Hume is no answer ou there, not for a moment.

I'm not writing Laczko off by any means but, having seen both players, if I'd been forced to choose which would be most likely to score or make most goals in a run of vital matches I'd have had no hesitation in choosing Gradel.

He's the sort of player who loves important matches and I wouldn't be surprised if his personal tragedy hasn't been the making of him in terms of his strength of mind.

Job done then, if he can come through that then he should be prepared.

As they've gone into Administration today will they be able to hold on to him or will he have to come back anyway?

He is under slight pressure but he also knows at the end of the loan that he will go back top his parent club. That in itself can be great for the lad as he is the hero if he expresses himself and does well and is thanked for his efforts if it doesnt work out.

I remember years ago when we took a then young Kevin Campbell on loan from Arsenal and he played with no fear and got us out of the shite and kept us up, forming a decent partnership with Spurs Paul Moran I think his name was.

Youngsters learn plenty from the lower leagues whether in a successful team or one struggling and I cant see how people would want all these young untried and untested kids straight into the first team. Can they not see the damage its done to those who have come into teh first team set-up too early?

It was Paul Moran, Campbell was awesome too, we tried to sign him permanently but Arsenal wouldn't let him go.

Leeds Home 4-3 and Blackburn away 4-2 are 2 of the best games that spring to mind.

Campbell was awesome back then and we knew he would have a good career from there. Its strange that he ended up saving a couple of clubs from relegation if memory serves me later in his career, including Everton. You have supersubs and he was a super loanee!

no

I'm not sure it will be as straightforward as that.

First it will depend on whether this is a real administration or simply a matter of protecting the club for an almost immediate takeover. If it is the former then it will be upto the appointed administrator to sort out the finances. As the transfer window is now closed it will be almost impossible for them to off load players for cash. Therefore the administrator would be looking to make cuts wherever possible and the termination of any loan deals woudl be an obvious way of doing that.

The other possibility may involve who is paying his wages. If we are paying his wages then he might be able to stay but if Bournemouth are paying his wages then things are very different as one of the options is for a wage freeze as we did when we were in administration and Gradel himself might not want that in which case he could ask for his loan deal to be terminated.

you are of course assuming that they are paying his wages, remember Kevin Bond and Milan are mates, don't be surprised if we are paying 100% of wages, also F.A. rules state long term loan deals MUST end in a valid transfer window

yup.

think you hit the nail on the head, there. One of the administrators jobs it to save money where it can be saved...

Now i am not wishing to blow our own trumpet but as they have just been docked ten points they would be horrified at the idea of losing Gradel aswell....

Max will stay at Bournemouth as we have AGREED to pay his wages for the rest of the season.

If we're not bringing him back, which would be my choice, I'm more than happy for us to pay his wages while he is down there. I think that is right, he won't be on too much anyway.
