No. Not really. As per my comment I have applied common sense as well as real life examples in formulating my view. I have no idea where Tommy G has derived his opinion from.

i'm not making any judgement , all i am saying is that you are both drawing your opinions/conclusions from the same source ie personal experience and the intangible "common sense" ( anyone can claim to be using that in their opinions)

He went to school (presumably).

The issue isn't about someone having a more valid opinion anyway, it's that after he's argued it for a bit he just whinges that it's his opinion and he should be entitled to it. Invariably people who end up saying that have run out of ideas or never had any proper ones in the first place.

It's not even the secondery school thing thats up for debate tbh. Tommy orginal claimed that teaching Primary school kids wans't a tricky job in general, which is bollocks, any who can conjour the image of 30 hyperactive five year olds in one room should be able to come to the conclusion that would could be quite challenging.

Translation (Politically Correct/Sensitive/Diplomat ---> Blunt)

Tommy G is stupid and should learn to simply drop it when he is wrong.

Whether they apply that common sense is another matter entirely.

From my experience of going through school, and observing. Also speaking to my auntie who has done both.

Theres your answer

I think the way in which you have subtley and maturely edited my name in the quote you used sums you up perfectly. And it also gives me the perfect opportunity to withdraw from proceedings.

AoWW isn't in the 'public sector' in the truest meaning of the word anyway, she's in the proper system, where ability, application and performance are important, rather than the apathetic and 'servant to the community- HONEST!) slacking off approach which is encouraged by the state system of blanket, across the board pay rises etc.

 Stop it, you're scaring me - I'm sure I've got none of those things. In fact, how the hell am I here?

But it's true. I only get to keep my job if we have sufficient numbers of pupils - which can fluctuate wildly from year to year depending on all kinds of factors. Basically we 'sell' a service. It's still all about profit and loss. If (reasonably) wealthy Mummies and Daddies are willing to cough up a fair amount of cash for their little darlings' educations - I keep my job. If they don't I bugger off round the world trying to pay my way en-route. Pretty simple, really.

The advantage of teaching in the independent sector is you can be more creative rather than having everything you teach dictated to you by the government. If I want to teach an 'alternative' text that's maybe not 'typical' to the age group I bloody well will. Go me!!

Teaching is a difficult job...apart from Primary School.

Interesting opinions you've expressed in this thread. I am more than happy (and I mean this quite seriously and genuinely) to arrange for you to spend a day helping to teach primary aged children. I won't leave you on your own - happy to swap classes around so I can be on hand if needed - and I'm actually quite a nice person, I promise I really won't set you up here) and you'll only have a class of 12 5-6 year old 'unproblematic' children to deal with. Clearly the subject matter won't be a problem to you, so it should all be straightforward.

I honestly think it's something you need to experience first hand so you can have an informed opinion as yours, quite frankly, worries me. Here's hoping you're not planning on becoming a father anytime in the near future. PM me if you're interested.

I have generally found that all accountants are idiots.

You can't argue with it, it's my opinion.

Depends where you have derived that opinion from.

If it is derived from a) meeting me and b) reading my bean counting buddy Tommy's posts in this thread, then yes I think you're on to something!

Knighton Matt would be turning in his grave.

As a sidenote..

This is true, apart from the accountant here at work, whom is a top bloke both in the social sense and in the professional 'you can do WHAT to save me money?' sense.

To be honest with people. Stating your opinion on here comes with baggage these days.

Repeatedly stating an opinion on any given subject comes with being slated, I have said nothing ofensive regarding teaching, just my opinion on how difficult Primary School teaching is compared with say Secondary School teaching.

Certain characters think that when they have their say, their right and no-one else is

I don't know why IFu cking bother

The thing is you stated that Primary School teaching wasn't hard (that is before you backtracked by saying that it was the "least hard" out of all teaching).

What do you expect people to do, just sit there and say "it's his opinion, lets not offer our view".

Stating your opinion on here only comes with "baggage" if it's an ill informed or ignorant one, like your original view that Primary teaching wasn't hard.

If you'd stated straight away that you though it was the "least hard" then I doubt there would've been the backlash.

Whether you originally meant that and didn't express it clearly in the first post or whether you were just backtracking is a different kettle of fish entirely, but I'm just pointing out that you shouldn't really be surprised at people's reactions.

Incidentally, I'd much rather teach Years 7, 8, 9 or 10  than Reception, Year 1 or Year 2. I don't do sh*t, vomit and tantrums! And, yes, technically I'm primary trained.

I thought "primary trained" simply meant "supplied with rubber gloves and a bucket".
