Tommy G Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Probably the strangest bloke I've seen on the TV, If you think Ray Mears is extreme then this man really takes the biscuit! Fair play to him if he's into it, but personally it's not for me...Fresh Fish anyone?

I liked when he tried to cross the river in Patagonia in that dodgy raft.
James. Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Anyone seen Austin Stevens? He went to Borneo in search of the largest snake in the world and then proceeded to get in a fight with it. Nutter.
Bojimha Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Watched it the other night when he squeezed that big poo and drank the juices, it kept me amused and made the gf feel sick !
Raj Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 i read in a newspaper(actually my Mrs read it for me as i cant read!0 and it was an article on the pre mentione Bear Gryllis. Apparently he is not the survival man that it makes out in the programme basically the people who worked with him said whilst THEY were roughing it up,he'd fcuk off and just do the bits shown on the TV... I like the Bruce bloke best....the one who does The Tribes!!!
Guest Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 I like the fact he claims to be a man alone in the wilderness. Yeah, a man alone with a film crew. Tosser.

hebangsthedrums Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Yeh I've read somewhere that hes not as extreme as he would like you to think - staying in hotels etc. The one episode I saw he was somewhere very icy and 'found' a boat, and then 2 shovels which he 'improvised' as paddles. The shovels looked so new they may as well have had B&Q stickers on. He then made a drama about how he could drown - yeh I'm sure the camera man would watch you drift underwater Bear < Ray Mears < Bruce Parry
Uncle Monty Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 The dude is a leg, anyone seen the bit where he eats a turtle?
Jay Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Anyone seen Austin Stevens? He went to Borneo in search of the largest snake in the world and then proceeded to get in a fight with it. Nutter. Austin Stevens is a legend!! have you seen the one with the Anaconda? it's immense he just jumps in and starts wrestling with the beast!! and another episode where he crawls under this rock into a tunnel crawls down it to discover a cave with about 200 rattlers in it and the proceeds to stick a camera in their faces and take a few photos!!
Ric Flair Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Where can I get the video of him squeezing a pony and trap (crap) ?
MPH Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Times online TV 'survival king' stayed in hotelsRobert Booth TO LIVE up to his public image of a rugged, ex-SAS adventurer, it must have seemed essential for Bear Grylls to appear at ease sleeping rough and catching his own food in his television survival series. But it has emerged that Grylls, 33, was enjoying a far more conventional form of comfort, retreating some nights from filming in mountains and on desert islands to nearby lodges and hotels. Now Channel 4 has launched an investigation into whether Grylls, who has conquered Everest and the Arctic, deceived the public in his series Born Survivor. The series, screened in March and April and watched by 1.4m viewers, built up Grylls’s credentials as a tough outdoorsman. In a question and answer session on Channel 4’s website, he recalls how station bosses pitched the venture to him stating: “We just drop you into a lot of different hellholes equipped with nothing, and you do what you have to do to survive.” But an adviser to Born Survivor has disclosed that at one location where the adventurer claimed to be a “real life Robin-son Crusoe” trapped on “a desert island”, he was actually on an outlying part of the Hawaiian archipelago and spent nights at a motel. On another occasion in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains where he was filmed biting off the head of a snake for breakfast and struggling for survival “with just a water bottle, a cup and a flint for making fire”, he actually slept some nights with the crew in a lodge fitted with television and internet access. The Pines Resort at Bass Lake is advertised as “a cosy getaway for families” with blueberry pancakes for breakfast.
Darkzzz_ Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Just be watching a little of bear on youtube just now...I showed my missus when he guts that camel and shelters inside its body... I loved it she nearly threw up!! I really wouldnt have a clue on how to survive to be honest!! I cant even rub 2 sticks together to make a fire!!

Edmund Posted 18 July 2009 Posted 18 July 2009 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics...r-than-him.html This was after Mears referred to Grylls as a boy scout. Grylls knows his stuff but Mears is the true dappa. Grylls only puts himself in situations for the sake of the program as he doesn't actually do everything you see like sleep rough. Its just to give an idea of what you would do in a survival situation. Still enjoy watching it though.
