I wen't and we got very much hammered by a decent Norwich side for all but the 20 minutes after the break.Their right winger and right midfielder had lasko and Mattock in their pocket. Was a decent day out......especially with the bacon and cheese pies from Delia's catering,it's a bloody long way to drive and we had berrnie singing his songs behind us.......QUACK,QUACK! (YOU HAD TO BE THERE!)

Those were brilliant, it must be said. Or were they not that brilliant, but just brilliant compared with the not-for-human-consumption shite you normally get served at football games?

Yes, it is a bloody long way.

What do I think about getting 0-0 against Norwich?

Nothing, because I didn't go to the game. I sat at home and listened to bits of the second half - that's all. Yet there's those who, having listened to a bit more Barber & Piper than I could physically manage seem to think they have a valid opinion about the substitutions, our formation and whether or not it was a good result. And those with the most to post on the matter really have the least to contribute.

Bollocks.

If you didn't see the game you don't know shit.

What utter rubbish, I listened to all the game today on the radio, and I got a good picture of how the game went, Norwich dominated the 1st half and could have scored a hatfull of goals, but for city heroic last ditch defending, and a lot of luck. Croft had the ball in the net for Norwich but was given offside, from the commentary you could tell the Norwich winger croft was the man of the 1st half and Leicester were extremely lucky to go in at halftime 0-0.

A good commentary can make you feel like your almost there!!

You can get the basic's from any game, certainly enough to form an opinion on how a team played.

You can not change the facts of any commentary. From the facts of the commentary you form your own opinions. Its not rocket science.

So whats the problem! :S

One problem would be that Barber is not a good commentator.

For me the major issue is not whether you can tell what has happened in the game without being there - it's travelling 300 miles to watch a match, finding reasons to be proud and optimistic and then coming back and reading pages and pages of moaning from people who haven't even bothered to go, mostly either unrealistic, naive idiots or people who seem to live in fantasy lands half the time.

Yes but it does make you realise that there are people worse off than yourself though.

Maybe so.

But if they didn't see the game, how can they go on someone else's opinion? Especially Barber.

You're dead right Bert.

According to the masses, Barber is a nob but still a good enough source for opinion.

Daggers has a good point. When SF is away, he will phone me for my opinion, and it will differ completely to that of the radio commentary. With all the moaning about Barber's "accuracy", it does seem silly to formulate any kind of opinion.

I would go one further, and say that watching footy on the TV also gives a false impression; you don't get to see a lot of the running off the ball etc. But then again, I could be being controversial....

Depends how hard you're looking. If you're really not concentrating and you're just seeing what the TV wants you to see it's not a true reflection, but a lot of people look out for less conspicuous achievements as best they can.

To add more to the present confusion:

Jon Barber is virtually present at every single match, yet knows close to zilch about football.

GOOD POINT,WELL MADE!

Yes, it is a bloody long way.

Actually thinking about it i could have got just as good pies at Morrisons across the road from the ground!Had a very nice Allday breakfast in there, after going in the Yellows bar/come restaurant and they wanted £8 for burger and chips! There's a very good fosse park sort of thing across the road from Carrow Road...........Bugger,could have found all this out by listening to Barber!

Don't encourage tph...
Tph will do for the Left wing.

Tony - considering that Jim has not been online today, has not posted in connection with this thread and that I could scarcely be regarded as one of his best buddies, you appear to have a bit of a problem with either alcohol or reality.

Get a grip.

Not all of us can afford to get to every single away game, sorry that i'm not as much of a fan as you.

If you'd bothered to read the post you would have noticed I said I did not go to the game. Nor do I go to many aways.

I recognise that piece of ordnance

It is the Daggers hand grenade

Instructions;

Remove pin

Throw into crowded forum

Stand back and enjoy

And I did Skinnydipper, and I did :D

Only if you have an old tramp working in your office that talks bollocks and no one ever tells him to shut the **** up...I'm only ever good at saying "Oi! Tramp! Shut the **** up!"

And by "tramp" I mean "Tony"

And by "Tony" I mean "bloke who posts seventy-odd posts about a match he didn't see"

That's not true Thracian because whilst you're posting, a post from TPH will surely follow, just like night follows day!

And that's at no detriment to either of you because everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Except that TPH never posts at weekends...

... due to the fact that he's not in his boring office.

And he lacks a PC at home.

A bit unfair to the lad.

THE SCENE:

The Daggers residence, East Wing, just after midnight.

Mr and Mrs Daggers have just returned from a night out to celebrate a small windfall.Mrs Daggers is in buoyant mood, a little disappointed at missing out on the Sushi bar but nonetheless happy to have avoided the cheeseburger banquet option first offered by her husband as the alternative.

Mrs Daggers goes upstairs to slip into"something comfortable"

MRS D "Oh Daggzy, come upstairs, I'm waiting for you"

MR D "I'll be up in a few seconds darling. I've just got to check FoxesTalk to see if there've been any casualties whilst we've been out.

20 minutes later, still waiting for her husband, Mrs Daggers reaches over to the side light, turns it off and decides to go to sleep

This might set a new trend - posting when you want to make it clear that you don't want to say anything!
