Why is it that everyone seems to love IAN HUME?

i'm just wondering if everyone does rate him or not?

Every week stearman even though he plays with passion for the club and gives 110% every game gets jeered and slated none stop but then you've got hume that yet again tries 110% every game usually doesn't score and gets a BIG cheer everytime he touches the ball! even when he has had crap games.

i just wanna know why this is. i think he's an ok player for us, not our best but what he lacks in skill he makes up in determination. same with fryatt fans still love him, reckon he's the best finisher in the club ("give him half a chance and he'll score") but to me he usually looks like he can never be arsed to put 110% effort in!! and the amount of "HALF CHANCES" i've seen him have this year and easier ones he's fluffed.

so why is it fans like some than others even though there no better and give 110% every game!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying he is a world beater and I dont think he could play in the Prem but he is definately good enough to be starting in our 11 for sure!!

I dont think he will be in the starting line up when DJ is back but he will always be a good squad player....

How many of our team have scored more goals than him ?

so far he is the top scorer agreed! dj is only 2 goals behind and look how many games he's played compared to hume. and STEARMANS on 3 goals ONLY 3 behind hume. but still people don't like stearman.

People dont dislike Stearman, i would imagine he gets slated when he has bad games yes but i read on countless player reviews of when hes had a good game people seem to admit it.

Agreed!

a) Top scorer for 1.5 seasons.

b) Virtually always fit to play.

c) 100% effort when he does play even when the game is lost.

d) Versatility. He's moved around from pillar to post to accommodate people who are more limited positionally.

e) Closes people down with real enthusiasm.

f) Makes headers he has no right to through his sheer determination.

g) Because you know that if we had 11 with his attitude we would never be near the foot of the table.

h) He tries to makes the best of his ability. Some can't even keep themselves properly fit.

Spot on, although is it a) Top scorer for 2.5 seasons? He's been our top scorer since he arrive at the start of the 2005/06 season

Football fans have always been the same, and it's no different than in the work place. - often we like people for purely physical movement reasons. Hence Stearman gets slated every week because he looks somewhat "ungainly". It's probably biggotry really but it ain't going to change soon.

That'd do it for me.

TOTALLY AGREE!! Hume is ok but so over rated by 90% of fans at this club!

Stearman does get slated, but most Leicester fans have realised he has been playing well for the last month or so, and is getting rave reviews for it. I am impressed with him, and will give him the benfit of the doubt, because he was a boyhood Leicester fan, and because he's tried harder this season compared to last.

On the Hume subject, I will always back him because he tries to make the best of what he's got. It's pretty obvious he won't win many headers, but that doesn't stop him trying to win them. He scores some cracking goals, his control from long balls is superb, and can turn any match. He does, and will, get criticism, but I believe it is less compared to some current, and former, players due to the fact he doesn't strut around the pitch, give up and think that he is too good for this club, and can't be bothered.

I want 11 players out there like him, people who genuinely care, players who you know, even if they aren't playing well, won't sulk, but will try even harder. He is like Paul Dickov, another fans favourite. Two similar players, and I admired them for their passion, and never-give-up attitude.

HUUUUUUUUUUUUME!!

Totally agree

Also worth noting that Stearman has only given 100% for about a month. Let's not get carried away. I like Hume, he is a very effective player and I think that your perception of him has been born from the fact that for the past 2 years he has had very little support and has no movement from his colleagues. You saw in the Cov game where he was actually getting some service and the rest of the team actually got into positions where they could receive the ball.

Woah woah woah! If you say Hume's versatile you may as well say Fryatt/Kenton are versatile. Hume has looked disinterested and has not made the supposed effort which you claim he shows every game when he plays out of position (i.e. not up front) with the possible exception of Watford. At QPR he scored a great free kick but other than that was appalling and every other time he's played out wide he's been crap.

I think he should be in our starting XI but I wish that people would keep their tongues out of his bum. He is an ok championship player

I thought we were talking about Hume.

Kenton's quite versatile, or was. Fryatt's never struck me that way.

I don't think Hume is particularly good on the wing and have said so before but he seems to contribute well enough when he drops back into central midfield, though I wouldn't play him there.

What's your angle? Are you trying to devalue Hume or trying to argue we should have an alternative centre-forward?

Cos I'm with Fez on that subject. I think you try to improve every position if you can.

But I don't think there's conclusive evidence to say Campbell would be better than Hume. And I don't think it matters.

Campbell's never looked a 90-minute man anyway since he's been here and, although he may well be more dangerous as a goal poacher I think both players would likely be used anyway.

Give Fryatt a chance :crylaugh: hes had 50 games odd for us and hardly scored, thats his chance gone

Behave yourself.

Hume plays with his heart on his sleeve, he gives everything, more than can be said for a lot of players at our club. Yet you moan about Hume. He's not much of a goal scorer but he has talent and creates chances as well as scores a fair few. He also can play in many poisitions and is also always fit.
