James. Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 so who do we blame?!i thought i was pushing the boat out a bit having a plain pink shirt.... Pink shirts on men are very popular in UK offices but an Australian colleague of mine says it just wouldn't happen in Australia. Ever. Apart from maybe, just maybe, in Sydney. Probably because they're a nation of homophobic testosterone-fuelled redneck backward arseholes. Allegedly.
The People's Hero Posted 25 January 2008 Author Posted 25 January 2008 Well I think it's a nice shirt! I have several pink shirts (and some dazzling shirt tie combos) for the office.
Tommy G Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 I've just purchased this. Oh dear thats a shame, you didn't buy it off Craig Adams by any chance?
The People's Hero Posted 25 January 2008 Author Posted 25 January 2008 Oh dear thats a shame, you didn't buy it off Craig Adams by any chance? No - although if he ever sells that fancy dress stuff shown in another picture on here, I might well be tempted!
Tommy G Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 No - although if he ever sells that fancy dress stuff shown in another picture on here, I might well be tempted! Not surprised - some of the stuff is rather dashing! I thought something more stylish would suit? Paul Smith
The People's Hero Posted 25 January 2008 Author Posted 25 January 2008 Not surprised - some of the stuff is rather dashing!I thought something more stylish would suit? Paul Smith That shirt is very nice, as is the signature stripe version. I do have one the same as this but in a blueish hue. Paul Smith shirts are fantastic. Great quality (but boy do you pay for it). I'm taking a break from buying formal shirts like this (although these do look good semi-casual down the pub) because quite simply a) Dry cleaning is expensive (and I get a bit paranoid about 'em in the wash) b) I have loads and very rarely come to work smart any more.
andyh1884 Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 I've just purchased this. Is it a patchwork of several samples of 1970's curtains and carpets? Can't imagine it'll be nice against the skin

Trumpet Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Looks like this is going to go down about as well as the rest of my wardrobe. Not very
The People's Hero Posted 25 January 2008 Author Posted 25 January 2008 Not very That was sort of my point.

I've only got one shirt, the prices are gay, but decent quality so you get what you pay for. I'm not a fan of the signature Paul Smith shirts and branded stuff apart from the luggage. They do some nice holdalls or however you spell it, start about 300 quid and upwards however
andyh1884 Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 Looks like this is going to go down about as well as the rest of my wardrobe. Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging it's style, I'm a big fan of the retro look. It's just I'm concerned that you may get carpet burns from any energetic or sudden movements

They do some nice holdalls or however you spell it, start about 300 quid and upwards however I'm after a belt at the moment - watching a few on ebay. I've got a few pairs of Paul Smith trainers. They start at about £70 but they seriously last well as they are leather. Recommend them if you see a pair you fancy. Got a couple of wallets too - it's really more about accessories for me with Paul Smith. Having said that - I picked up a lovely cotton summer jacket (stone sort of colour) in the sales in House of Fraser, reduced from nearly £200 right down to £15. Smashing buy. I'm going to stop this now as I sound like a woman.
Thracian Posted 25 January 2008 Posted 25 January 2008 I've just purchased this. As a cross between a pyjama top and a patchwork quilt it's a utilitarian masterpiece which could have fronted a worthwhile lesson in economics showing the means, and the value, of recyling unused clothing. Paying for such an item is something else entirely. But I guess we've all done it. PS: You did present the item for comment I presume.

The People's Hero Posted 25 January 2008 Author Posted 25 January 2008 I dread to think what Thracian has said above. I hope there were no accusations of ourselves being 'sordid' bandied around.
