Joe. Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Going back to the point I made earlier, you have to agree surely that he is virtually non-existent in "big four" games or Quarter Finals and above stages of the Champions league?
Kilworthfox Posted 30 January 2008 Author Posted 30 January 2008 Some say he only turns up against midtable mediocre teams ala Pompey. Some say that... In your opinion would some be right?
WetFlannel Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Going back to the point I made earlier, you have to agree surely that he is virtually non-existent in "big four" games or Quarter Finals and above stages of the Champions league? Us against the world eh?
Tommy G Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 not in the same leauge anymore Justify it? Some people look beyond him becasue he isnt flash. Still got it Finished third behind Drogba and Ronaldo in PFA last year. Ahead of Fabregas and a certain Gerrard. Saying he isn't in the same league as them is ignorance im afraid.

So thats means he isn't the best player in the world? Who's your choice then Joe?

How ever I base my opinion not on his passing or technical abilities as they are excellent. However his tackling, tempermant, and ability to control a game and win it on his own is not in the same leauge as the ones I mentioned. Anyway lets get back on point. If you wish to discuss Paul start a thread.
Koke Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 In your opinion would some be right? He goes missing against the big teams more often than not I'd say e.g. against Liverpool earlier in the season Still, he's a quality player.
Joe. Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 So thats means he isn't the best player in the world? Who's your choice then Joe? At the moment, I honestly don't know. I don't see enough of other league's football and Champions League games aren't often enough for me to justify a decision. But it's easy to say Ronaldo is the best in the world because he plays in the English Premier League and we all see it every week. And in a way, yes I'd agree that Ronaldo isn't the best in the world because he can't always compete with the best. Now that's what really seperates the best from the rest for me.

Secondly I didnt realise it was a rule Mr Kilworth that you couldn't go off topic in a thread on this forum - because THAT never happens does it? I was just alarmed that you didn't mention in your little list arguably the third best player in the best league in the world. So Tevez's temprement and tackling are top notch are they, he was on that list I believe. Your posts are contradictory and lack any point

I was picking out an individuals weaknesses (which you have failed to defend) not a standard of which must be attained to be considered world class in my eyes.
Tommy G Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 So basically your saying he isn't in the same league as those players because of his weaknesses then? Calling me 'not clever enough' is boring and weak. What do you do then Einstein? Your posts are confusing, thats why I don't understand.
WetFlannel Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Sorry, I think I may have started World War 3
Thracian Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Awesome player and so consistent. He always had ability but he's honed that to a point where he tries to make something happen with almost every pass he gets. One within 35 yards of goal he either takes people on and shoots, takes people on and pinpoints a pass or simply attempts a killer final pass. There's never any thought of passing the responsibility to someone else. And with that attitude and the number of shots he gets in, he'll either score a cracker, a grubber or he'll get lucky with a mistake or deflection but something will happen. If only the game had more such players or even tried to encourage them.
Tommy G Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Sorry, I think I may have started World War 3 Hardly, a bit of banter on Foxestalk doesn't hurt anyone Mr Gerrad. especially as the telly is crap. I'm glad FoxesTalk doesnt rule my life unlike others!
Guest Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 All I'll say is thank the lord he's captain of my fantasy football team this week

If it is so boring why do you insist on retorting? My name is also Tom not Einstein, I assume that you are suggesting that I have some wonderful job where you needed to work for NASA or some great equivalent where a high level of brain power is essential? If so that is not the case. I am a salesman. What do you do? I guessed at some kind of labelling job earlier as you manage to label me so aptly! I await in a state of readiness to be alert to your witty reply
lildave3 Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 **** me, I come home, stick the game on Sky+ and i'm sitting here stunned after 15 minutes. The boy is ****ing ridiculous. Joe, he is without doubt the most in form player in the world right now, by some distance. And personally, yes I think he is now the best in the world. The free kick - Oh my. I'd go as far as saying his free kicks are equal to Beckham's back in the day, at least.

Joe. Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Joe, he is without doubt the most in form player in the world right now, by some distance. And I wouldn't dispute that really. But I'm still not convinced he's the best yet. I'd personally like to see how he performs in the next lot of Champions League games before I come to any kind of decision.
lildave3 Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 someone is going to ruin you sky+ night I can see it coming! It won't be me It usually happens
Darkzzz_ Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Thats mental. Gerrard scores goals? I can't be arsed to trawl throught stats, but I would expect Ronalso scored double than gerrard last year in al competitions. You mention set pieces - Ronaldo is better? Ronaldo is un-playable, is Gerrard? Gerrard has a few good games then goes missing for half a dozen? Ronaldo is in top form week in week out. I don't buy this whole ''Gerrard carries Liverpool'' crap. Has Ronaldo had the opportunity to play in a side that Gerrard has played in, in that situation? No. Torres will do that for Liverpool this season. Ronaldo is unquestionably the best player in the world, anyone who disagree's is deluded or doesn't watch him play/watch football. Gerrard doesnt have that 'get off your seat' factor that Ronaldo has. Ronaldo, then Kaka, then I don't know. Gerrard wouldn't be in my top 5 though that's for sure. A great post to be fair... By going on current form you are spot on, Ronaldo has been very consistant for two seasons now... And the most frighting part is that he could get better!! I really dont buy into the Gerrard story either, dont get me wrong a fantastic footballer but id rather pay to watch Ronaldo and Kaka. I would have said Ronaldinho was the best if we were back in 2005 but he has lost his form big time!! A midfielder to score the amount of goals and the range of goals that Ronaldo has scored this season is amazing!! Hats off to Ronaldo... all hail the "kid"!!
Matt Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Gutted, Before the game I looked at the odds of a Man Utd 2-0 and Ronaldo scoring first but it was only 14/1 so I thought, "Ah not worth it"....Feckin worth it now ain't it! I've gotta stop looking for such good odds...maybe just maybe I might win abit more, I'll get less winning but more wins = Probably more combined winnings.
Manwell Pablo Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 FTAO Of Fez and Hullfox. How on earth can you say his English is any good?? It's broken as ****! "I work hard in the trainings, and then it's good on the pitch" Jesus, he's been here over four years!!
