Koke Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 ''And with those words, your opinion is invalidated'' - Is anybody going offer their opinion or just keep banding around nonsense?Howard is 31 and Hayles is 35...can you not see the problem developing in that? Maybe it's just me, but when you have young homegrown talent it winds me up when we drop them in place for has beens who don't give a monkeys about this club. If it wasn't for taking some chances on our youth then Kisnorbo would have been gone long ago - everybody seems to be overlooking that fact! You don't get it do you. Fryatt. Is. Pants. He might do well if he leaves and I wish him all the best by all means. Howard is 31. So what? Scored 20 goals last season in this divsion and is miles better than Fryatt. Hayes is 35. So what? He was NOT brought here to partner Howard but rather to come in late in games and see off matches and help the younger players with the wise old head he has. And it just happened that he has scored same amount of goals as wonderkid Fryatt in much shorter time. Do you have short memory? Do you not remember how dire we were pre-Holloway? And now you want to continue with the same striker partnership that we tried, and failed miserably with. I don't care about homegrown talent and whatnot. (actually I do but we should play players thats best for the team)
Joe. Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 in fryatts defence, he has not played in a side with 'real midfielders' as hayles mostly has...personally, i think the best combo is howard and hume, people seem very quick to forget that hume scored 4 in 5 games, in december, so before oakley, before wingers... yet for some reason a lot of people are writing him off... craziness That's true, but I still don't believe that Fryatt would offer us as much as Hayles. And as for Hume, I just think he needs a spell on the bench for a while. At the moment I think Howard and Hayles are doing fine, and I would like to see the introduction of DJ sometime soon too.

AC Milan are European Champions with an average age of about early 30s...... Don't underestimate experience.
dandannieldanok Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 If you're happy to sit and hope Hayles can keep his luck for the rest of the season good for you, it's just that I'd rather see us try to nurture some young talent for a change.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 I think Fryatt is the all around striker at the club and with better service could easily be a 20 goal a season striker. Can hold it up, take people on and get in good poistions. He has a footballing brain and you can't teach the way he plays the game. DJ is not good enough, some non league striker scored a few at brentford and flopped at b-ham. Scored 10 league goal last year. If fryatt was in that team with that kinda service he would easily got more. We lose Fryatt and watch him go somewhere like Preston and start banging in the goals. The lad has got it. Just needs to start showing it.

gosfox Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Can someone please post him a DVD of the Watford game to show him it is not new players we need - just someone who can lead them and manage them! Will this game be brought up for evermore ????? can I place a vote for the moderators to suspend the account of anyone who ever mentions the watford game in future
MikeyT Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 http://www.bbc.co.uk/leicester/local_radio/ and click on 'Listen Again' or 'Listen: Football Forum' Cheers for that link mate! Star!

Daggers Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 I didn't listen to the show - but according to a current and semi-popular belief this should hold no bar to me having a strong opinion about it. I think he was too defensive. When oh when oh when will he realise that he has to be more attack-minded when answering questions at home. Also, I don't think he is going to gain any benefit from answering questions from just sixty minutes - if he isn't answering them for a full hour and a half he'll never be matchday question fit. Did he do any signings outside the studio? Probably not - which is disgusting as that is what he needs to do more of. And if he did, then he should have used a better pen. Or the colour green. Foxes!
Hugo Sanchez Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 Game of the season. Even Shush! scored that game, they must have been crap.

He doesn't have pace and generally plays with his head down.

Hayles and Howard have had the same service and look what theyve done. And Hume. Miss from 2 yards out like he did at QPR? I consider that a pretty good chance which he fluffed. Get rid now

Back it up please, shit player with no end product. Can't finish and never will. I bet anyone DJ will never score 20 goals in the championship in his time playing for us.

Geo V Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 I think we had over 160 anonymous guests and members on here at one stage and it was impossible to get on much but my thoughts of Ollie tonight was mixed. I think he expected us to call and back him but some of our clubs idiots always somehow manage to get in before the normal ones and all I could hear was doom and gloom before Sarj came on at the end to talk sense. Yes Ollie does talk some shite at times but his main focus is to get the players more vocal and a bit nastier, to get that togetherness that playing for each other does and to get a settled squad of players who want to play for the club without over hyping the kids who he wants to mold within the group, not thrust into the deep end and see them sink. However, I was left feeling a tad down because he sounded down and upset. Im used to seeing him on Sky Sports being jovial and sounding like he loves life but some elements of our fans are bringing him down as I'm sure he would sound more enthusiastic if we were all behind him regardless of what was going on the pitch. I hope he hears the tape back and analysises that he needs to do what he does best and motivate and don't feel deflated by some of our idiot supporters.
The Reverend Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 1. I'm fed up with the amount of negativity from Ian Holloway. It's been ten weeks now and it's about time he took on some responsibility. The man could be a politician with the way he turns things around and uses the players/the pitch/the weather/the transfer window/the ref/the FA as a scapegoat2. Ollie - you talk about bringing positivity to the club but all you do is moan about the players you have inherited! How is that going to lift spirits? Can someone please post him a DVD of the Watford game to show him it is not new players we need - just someone who can lead them and manage them! 3. And stop talking about players having pride in their shirt when you're loaning out and dropping all our young players and replacing them with 'experienced' players who will need replaced next year and couldn't give a sh*t about leicester, only making a bit of money before their careers are over. It's simple: 4. Don't loan out Mattock - he's one of the few players we have who isn't scared to run at players so get him further foward again 5. Get Hume and Fryatt up front - the pair are technical and have some pace - they don't just wait for a ball to fall out of the air like all these target men that get brought in (how many have i seen these over-rated 6'5'' strikers come and go - stick with the tried and tested method) - even under Megson's shocking tactics and dreadful playing Hume and Fryatt were scoring goals so get them back up there! 6. Keep these young Hungarian wingers on the wing 7. And finally, get your ****ing wallet out and get Fulop. The lad is only 24 and rivals most Premiership keepers - If you get him on a long contract i guarantee you will make at least £3M if you were to sell him at the end of his contract. 8. You say it will take time to get this club working - but by the time it is most of these players you have brought it will be at the end of their career. The future is in the youth - the players who actually care about this club. Right ok. 1. It will take a lot longer than ten weeks to sort this club out. It has been left in a sorry state by former gaffers, buying shite players, wasting money etc etc, you get the point. -He hasnt blamed the pitch -Or the weather -Transfer market i can go with, but he is perfectly entitled to. His hands have been tied by retarded former managers i.e Allen, who wasted cash and bought shite on good contracts. -Perfectly entitled to blame the ref on numerous occasions. Even a Derby fan would recognise that we have been done out of points this season because of rubbish refs. -The f.A...dont think so. 2. I agree dissing the players is not going to lift spirits, but it might get a reaction out of them. As for the Watford game, i said what i said because that game was a total fluke, as has been proved by our other results this season (and Watfords). Allen didnt beat Palace away did he? Or Forest (after one half). Or Blackpool at home. 3. Thats you're opinion mate, but he wasn't doing bad at Plymouth with a similar strategy was he? 4. As much as i rate Mattock, at this minute, he is no more than an average Championship player. And he does not take players on. I dunno what you're watching. 5. Absolute rubbish. Hume and Fryatt dont work together. They cant in this league. Simple as. Hume and Fryatt were not scoring goals (in fact they were rarely even playing together). And the tried and tested in this division IS NOT 2 little pacy strikers. Its a big and a small man. 6. Yes. 7.If only it was that simple. I personally would pay 3 million for Fulop - but it is a huge amount for a club in the Championship (especially for a keeper). I suspect Ollies holding on for the summer. 8. Not true. Average age of players that Ollie seems to want to play- around 25/26. We have twoyouth stars playing consistently in Mattock and Stearman - another two on the fringes in Weso and King. Thats four. We have them coming through. Anything else?

The Reverend Posted 4 February 2008 Posted 4 February 2008 If you're happy to sit and hope Hayles can keep his luck for the rest of the season good for you, it's just that I'd rather see us try to nurture some young talent for a change. We've been nurturing this same 'talent' for the last 2 seasons.... and it has returned a pathetic 11 goals. I think Fryatt is the all around striker at the club and with better service could easily be a 20 goal a season striker. Can hold it up, take people on and get in good poistions. So according to my maths, thats about the same amount of goals in one season, as Fryatt has scored in his whole, just about 2 year Leicester career. In half the games. And as for saying Fryatt can hold it up.....I want some of whatever you're on.

I think Holloway had Howard and Hayles in Champ Manager 8 years ago and they took him to the title...he's been wanting to get them together for real since then. he's currently living the dream. PS. He cheated and got Rivaldo in too, I think he started the recent rumour on t'internet just in case...

Cos the transfer window closed afew days ago cvnt! But on the whole Ollie knows this club has been in the shite for 4 years and it aint gonna get better in a few months is it? I liked the way he indirectly slagged off the 14 odd summer signings which has left the club even more in the shite! He KNOWS we have big problems and atleast he isnt trying to hide them or not come out defend himself. I think he realises what a tough job he has here.
