Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 It's not a permanent appointment yet though by the look of that report.
Durnerz Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Good luck to him, will need Fabio to stick a rocket up his arse as he's been poor ever since Munich 5-1.
LeeCovFox Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Just a temporary thing it says. Whilst Terry is out injured and Capello makes his mind up over his final decision. I'd imagine Terry would have got the nod had he been fit. Everything I've read suggests Ferdinand will get the job full time, and to be honest I don't think we will truly know until the summer at the earliest.
Bert Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 We won't know until the first world cup qualifier.
Tommy G Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Good luck to him, will need Fabio to stick a rocket up his arse as he's been poor ever since Munich 5-1. A rocket? A nucular missile more like. He is really the only obvious choice unfortunately. Im not a fan of Terry being Captain either. Hopefully sooner rather than later someone will come out the woodwork to become obvious choice and pip one of the untouchables in the team to the captaincy. Beckham has had his critics but he was a very good captain for us.

Tommy G Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Terry is still the man for me. How come though? Yes he is gobby and a great defender. Can't really see him as an inspirational captain however
Samilktray Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Im in favour of one of the outsiders. Ferdinand or Rooney for me.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 How come though? Yes he is gobby and a great defender. Can't really see him as an inspirational captain however .....Despite the fact he's captained Chelsea to two Premier League titles and a FA cup win.
mancunianfox Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 I'm sure ermmm, that Steven errrmmmm, Gerrard will ermmm, make a good England Captain but ermmmmm, all ermm, press conferences will be ermm, about ermmm, four ermmm, times as long.
Tommy G Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 .....Despite the fact he's captained Chelsea to two Premier League titles and a FA cup win. I think I could have captained that side and still won the league though - they were on abserloute fire and pretty much unstoppable.

At least you can understand him compared to his Scouse counterpart Carragher
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 I think I could have captained that side and still won the league though - they were on abserloute fire and pretty much unstoppable. So you'd be of the opinion that John Terry isn't a very good captin for Chelsea then?
Tommy G Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 So you'd be of the opinion that John Terry isn't a very good captin for Chelsea then? Yeh he is a ''good'' captain, just saying that whoever was captain when Chelsea dominated would have probably won the league aswell. Their best player at that point was Makelele, he would have made a good captain. Probably the most underated footballer on the planet Just can't be doing with all the over hyped media that surrounds Terry
mancunianfox Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 thats so annoying isn't it. At least you can understand him compared to his Scouse counterpart Carragher Extremely annoying. Not really sure what Terry did to get stripped of his captaincy other then get injured. At least he can string a sentence together.

I just find it strange someone would think John Terry would not be a good "inspirational" captain. He seems perfect to me, the only other person I'd consider giving it to is Gary Neville, and he's old and always injured.

AyewJoking Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Capello wont decide on a permanent captain til the World Cup qualifiers.
Manwell Pablo Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 Yeh too old.. Hargreaves? He seems to have his head screwed on Hardly a gurantee to play is he? Maybe he is actually I dunno . Still, can't have a German as Captin. It'll be Gerrard or Terry, and it will be Terry.
LeeCovFox Posted 5 February 2008 Posted 5 February 2008 I don't rate Hargreaves as a player personally, let alone England Captain. People have been raving about Hargreaves ever since he ran about a bit against Portugal in the World Cup. I think he is overrated. A slightly more talented version of Phil Neville in my opinion.

Harsh. Hargreaves is a very effective player in the right midfield.

Neville is mediocre. If you watch hargreaves play then as soon as the opposition is on the ball then he will be on them like lightening. For Utd he is basically a flowered up Michael Carrick with pace who is a better tackler. For England he only used to get slated because the boss at the time played him all over the place - RB & LB for example, wide on the right if i remember rightly? We need him to do the defensive work in the team for England. Gerrard is good going forward (apparently) and Lampard doesn't do a lot apart from being fat. Without Hargreaves we lack creativity because the midfielders roles are restricted in terms off of attacking. I think he could be an outsider for the captaincy
