I'm thinking you've changed my perfectly reasonable spelling of "dilemna" in the sub title of the thread to "dilemma". Disgrace. The masses clambered for a change. I'm still enjoying the novelty of being able to edit people's posts. Sadly the end result was inevitable.

Tommy G Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 The Scenario:I'm standing in Canary Wharf tube station on my way to the Watford game last night queueing for some cash. The woman in front of me is taking awhile so I peer over to see what she's doing and notice she is taking out £400. Finally she gets on with it but the next time I look she has gone and £400 is sticking out the dispenser like the Holy Grail I've been searching for in the LCFC forum. Without really even thinking I grab the money and run after the woman. However the woman I thought it was isn't the right one. So there I am standing in the middle of the station with £400 in my hand. What do I do? Again, without really thinking I turn around and give it to a couple of policemen standing next to me. They put it in an evidence bag and thank me for my honesty. I suggest an announcement over the station tannoy and then off I go. The Dilemna: What would you have done? As soon as I walked away from the police I kind of regretted not taking it! All I got out of the whole event was a thank you from a copper and a clear conscience. However I could have been £400 better off! I admire my own honesty and the fact my natural reaction was to give the money back to its owner but looking back I almost wish I'd just taken it and had one hell of a good time. Hmm... Aren't you a good boy.. Im sure you can only take out £250 out of an ATM at one time? Perhaps I'm wrong I wouldnt have given it her back If I could have found her. I have walked upto a cash machine outside Morrisons in Lutterworth before and wen't to take some cash out, there was 30 quid sticking out the machine and I took it. Only because I had a look first to see if anyone had recently used the machine but conviniently there was no sign!

Joe. Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 I just don't know how you can do that to be honest. She's put her pin in, taken her card back and then fecked off. How can you possibly forget about the £400 you've just withdrawn?! I'd have probably done the same thing as you JTB and then maybe thought I should have taken at least some of it afterwards. Besides, it's hardly like they can find this woman again is it? And also, don't you get to keep it if nobody comes forward after a certain period of time?

I don't think it's quite to your credit limit (depending on what your limit is) - and there may be an advance fee, but yeah, if you need more cash, stick your credit card in instead.

Credit card companies aren't too keen on you using them for this purpose and the interest charged on it is hefty.

Lady restored my faith in human nature so I drove the nine miles to her house with flowers and chocolates. Noticing she lived alone in a remote place I tied her up and robbed her house. I was on Sibson Rd in Birstall last year and a woman left a few hundred quid sticking out the machine. I took it and tapped her on the shoulder further down the street offering the money out to her smiling. She gave me a look like she wanted me dead, snatched it out of my hand and turned and stomped off. I couldn't believe it. Though stabbing her was probably a disproportionate response. You did the right thing old son. n.b: You mentioned £400 for foxestalk, how much do we need to raise for the forum? I may be able to help.....

As I said in my first post it's nice to know that my instinct was to return the money and it was only after I had done so that I started regretting it..! Next time I might not be so honest
