Vardinhio Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Being from Ashby I havn't actually been into Leicester that much other than to watch the football but I have to say that from studying in Notts for 2 years and currently working here on my placement, I love this place! Leicester seems really industrial in comparrison and whilst it's immediate suburbs might be "safer", the city centre of Nottingham blows away Leicester and despite being a Fox forever I appreciate the supremacy of Nottingham as a city of opportunity and innovation. I'm sure everyone will hate Nottingham because of the Trees, that isn't really the point of this poll but fairplay. Peace!
AoWW Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Well this thread should be entertaining as far as rational, unbiased opinions go.
Finnegan Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Let's be honest with ourselves, Nottingham city center is far better for shopping.
danny. Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 yup, leicester is awful for shopping, although notts not that much better. Brum is the better by miles!!! I think notts centre looks a bit more 'run down' in places but has more character.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 My girlfriend lives in Nottingham (although she lives up North) so I spend quite a bit of time there. I don't think there's THAT much to choose between them. Nottingham seems to have more proper pubs and gets better gigs, but apart from that there's not much difference. Having said that, I'm yet to have a curry in Nottingham that's anything like as good as I can get in Leicester, despite several attempts
Zingari Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 leicester's got beaumont leys shopping centre wilkos and tesco seem to have everything i need (but i'm a very simple sort)
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Sorry Nottingham is nicer/better for shopping/going out in by quite a long way.
Ultra Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 The only two advantages Nottingham has over us is in shopping and culture (yeah, really.. ). But both of these will be blown away in six months' time when the new Highcross shopping centre and Curve theatre are opened. Wouldn't mind a Rock City in Leicester, though..

coale39 Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Yeah the city centre is way better. But i'll feel safer in Leicester.
Phube Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Yeah the city centre is way better. But i'll feel safer in Leicester. Wait until we get a John Lewis.. then they'll be no reason to go to Snottingham (Historically correct!) at all!
acooling08 Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 nottingham city centre is full of crime- a lot of crime link
Shipman Out Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Notts shopping is getting Shite the whole place is now shit for shopping Leicester is def catching up with Designer clothes and everywhere in Notts apart from a few areas is in a state of Decay I hardly ever go now it Leicester and Birmingham for me. And i cannot drive over the Trent Bridge without sticking my V's up to the City Ground EVERY SINGLE TIME for over 10 years!!
DB11 Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I can only talk from what I've heard in the media and there seems to be no end of crime and shootings in Nottingham
Raj Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 The only two advantages Nottingham has over us is in shopping and culture (yeah, really.. ).But both of these will be blown away in six months' time when the new Highcross shopping centre and Curve theatre are opened. Wouldn't mind a Rock City in Leicester, though.. NEWS FLASH!!! Ultra talks sense!!!! P.S If the Highcross and 'Curve" are both flops,i blame Ultra.........and the fcuking council(bastard tax increasing bastards!!!)
Finchy Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 The shopping is terrible in Nottingham! Leicester is a lot better and will be amazing when Highcross is finished, we will definitely be contending with Brum then for shopping. I would say Leicester is better tbh. Actually no....wait, Nottingham has a big wheel now! "Now Nottinum is as gud as Lundun" to quote a retard they interviewed on East Midlands news the other day. But one thing's for sure Derby and Cov are shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
Poakey Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 leicester's got beaumont leys shopping centre wilkos and tesco seem to have everything i need (but i'm a very simple sort) You cant beat Wilkos at Beaumont Leys!!!!There own brand of Celluse wipes are the best around for getting all that day to day grim of the kitchen worktops,as for there Shit house cleaner you'll never find better anywhere.(I only know all this cause me Mum told me btw)
