Tilley Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Maybe the fact the team coach didnt arive until twenty five to two means a lack of preperation which is the one of the problems ?? The players didn't turn up today, Cov weren't good it's just we were so bad! & as to why Hayles gets brought on when 5,000 fans are chanting Matty Fyatt's name is a joke. & people moan because fans were leaving at 85 minutes. Can you blame them ? They had already sat through nearly an hour and a half of that crap. We couldnt score in 80 minutes so why would we score 2 in 10 minutes. Were in a relegation dogfight, I personally think we will survive. JUST.
Matt Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 The fact that people feel the need to leave after 80 minutes, pointless. The fact the players feel the need to not turn up at all, pointless.
Thracian Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 And sacking yet another manager is going to do us good HOW exactly? How would I know until it happens and we named an alternative? But no away win in 10 successive games? Four wins in the last 18 matches. A desperate position in the table despite the transfer window signings. Another game goalless. Seventeen goals in 18 matches including a four. I would think a good many people would improve on that situation.
Joe. Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Bloody awful. Not looking forward to facing Cardiff next week. We never got going at all and never looked like scoring until the last five minutes, which just isn't good enough. Yeah we could blame the referee (I don't know whether it was a penalty or not, didn't look like it at all from my view) but at the end of the day we only have ourselves to blame. We were terrible and we deserved to lose. Personally I thought the only player who looked like they were making an effort today was DJ Campbell. Must do better boys...
Thor Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I don't think our problems are solely on the pitch. Something has got to be badly wrong behind the scenes when a team riding high on a 4-0 victory performs so poorly in the next game – and when natural grafters such as Hume and Clemence appear so disinterested. I am no more keen on another change of manager than anyone else, but a few things Holloway says disturb me. For one thing, I don’t like the dismissive way he refers to the players as ‘this lot’. Nor do I think it is clever, or good for morale, to say that ‘we have no leaders out there’. How does that make your captain feel, let alone the other players? I remember a previous manager making the same comment - Peter Taylor I believe it was – but I do remember that Matt Elliot was captain at the time, and his performances dropped off noticeably after that. The manager was out the door soon afterwards. It’s easy to be an armchair manager, but Holloway does make some weird team selections and odd tactical decisions. When Holloway first arrived, he was lauding Fryatt as a key player for us, but now he barely gives him a look in. Sure, I know that not everybody is a Fryatt fan, but you can't doubt his skill on the ball, and he's a trier. The same with Weso. You’d have thought he would be Holloway’s type of player. He’s not the most creative player maybe, but he is young and full of energy and always gives everything for the cause, yet he doesn’t even make the bench these days.

A good portion of the blame can be attributed to having no patience with managers. I don't agree with all of Ollies tactics (playing Hume on the right? multiple strikers on the pitch at the same time?), but sacking him will do NOTHING for Leicester City Football Club!
RowlattsFox Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I thought we were ok up until the penalty, obviously nowhere near fantastic but we were in their half a lot of the time without doing anything with it, we were holding onto the ball too long and getting caught in possesion. I can't wait to see the penalty decision again because it looked a disgraceful decision, I don't think anybody appealed for it and the Cov fans were as suprised as we were that they had got a penalty. Alnwick should have saved the penalty, it wasnt struck with any power at all. If this was deemed worthy of a penalty why wasnt we awared a penalty when Howard was barged over in the second half? As soon as went behind we just resorted to hoofing it more than we have ever done before. We never seriously looked like scoring, apart from a few chances at the end. I am pretty confident that we would have won today if we scored the first goal because Cov were ordinary at best.
Joe. Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 What got me today most was the total lack of movement around the pitch. It was obvious that the players had been instructed to pass the ball around but when they looked for a pass there was nobody there. This resorted to the long ball football we've seen for too long. So you'd have thought things would change after half time right? Wrong. I expected better to be honest.
CovFox Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 After yet another shitty result and all of us feeling so depressed about our current situation, am I the only fan thinking that maybe Mandaric needs to start copping some serious flack? Your opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Yes he does deserve flak IMO. He has the resources and appeal to bring in a top quality manager yet he initially decided to plump for a manager who failed miserably to promote the club with the largest budget in League Two. In hindsight I would personally much rather he gave Worthington a chance.

If I was Mandaric i'd be considering selling up while he still has some money, his money must literally be draining. I know Mandaric wants to build, e.t.c, once he's done that he'll sell and make a profit, that is a long way off, I know if I was him i'd be worrying.

We lack confidence when we go a goal down if they are hurt by Holloway's words than maybe they shouldn't be playing, Holloway is merely saying those things to get the players to actually to do something about it, in other words he is hoping the players with leadership abilities within them will start to show through.
Daggers Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Bloody awful. Not looking forward to facing Cardiff next week. I told you Joe - the way forward is 'drunk' or 'very drunk'. Utter tripe!I would like the opportunity to plonk him in charge during the summer and get him to appoint the manager of his choice just to see it go tits up as well...maybe then he'd shut the **** up. Probably not.
Tilley Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I think DJ Campbell is the victim of some undeserved stick at the minute. Honestly in my opinion him and Oakley were pretty much the only players that tried. Although i felt like walking out when he passed to Howard Kisnorbo - Crap of late & extremely inconsistant McCauley - Ipswich will be happy we rejected their bids Clapham - I have seen nothing of him to deserve a new contract in the summer. he is AWFUL. Hume - Look extremely uninterested today Clemence - A very under par season after all the hype. Pretty much sums up LCFC this year! The day was summed up when the police made us cross over the road we had just gone under. I just wanted to get to the car parked in tesco car park! W*ANKERS W*ANKERS! Gotta love away days
lildave3 Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I told you Joe - the way forward is 'drunk' or 'very drunk'. Daggers, if you're paying, i'll join you in your quest for drunkness.

Daggers Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 The 10:30 out of New Street. I will be at a table with my picnic hamper of booze, assorted flasks and a DS.
Pen 3 veteran Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Gutted. Don't understand why no passion when it's our nearest derby. Fans who went would at least want to see some fight and passion, and to come away knowing the players care. Don't the players/ Ollie realise the local pride and history? I know people will say Coleman's first game so their team would try hard to impress, but if we'd won/drawn same peopl.e would say but Coleman not had time to get Cov organised. Don't get it after last week's win and 5,000 fans behind you in 6 pointer relegation struggle against local rivals. Anyway, off on a tangent, suppose the Arsenal /Birmingham rants on 5live, Gazza's sectioning, and Wes Brown's wage demands show how crap the pro game has become. ( and I couldn't get my Setanta to work!)
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 Been again today, What a bucket full of crap AGAIN for the life of me i dont know where this managers tactics come from he keeps telling us he likes to play with wingers but again today we had no width and the two up front were piss poor. Whats does holloways record stand at today 5 wins out of 19 it truely amazes me how some of the fans think hes the man to take us forward.I dont think Rob Kellys record was not any worse than that and he had f--k all to spend. Get ready to re-programme your sat-navs next year to Forest-Leeds
Guest Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I took consolation in the fact that we finally started to pass to blue shirts.
Daggers Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I took consolation in the fact that we finally started to pass to blue shirts. I didn't get that earlier - sorry.
Guest Posted 23 February 2008 Posted 23 February 2008 I didn't get that earlier - sorry. Funnily enough, neither did our players.

I wasn't talking about what's gone on under other managers, some of whom we persisted with for whatever good it did us. I was talking about what's happened under Holloway and where we are as a result. There are many reasons for our underperformance over the last four/five years and very little of it has to do with being impatient with managers.
