James. Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Yeah it's only March and it was f**king cold when I left my house for work this morning but over the weekend the sun shined for a bit, my bedroom window was open, I heard birds singing and I put my stereo on loud... great feeling. So, what music sounds better when the sun is shining..? Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club Nightmares on Wax - Carboot Soul DJ Vadim - The Soundcatcher Lee Scratch Perry - Panic in Babylon Quantic - Mishaps Happening And some drum n bass to finish things off from someone like High Contrast or London Elektricity.
Head Honcho Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 It may have been 12 years ago but Free Peace Sweet by Dodgy always reminds me of the summer.
The People's Hero Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 Buena Vista Social Club is a great shout. My own would include Hot Chip, Faithless, Aphex Twin, Soulwax, ZZ Top, Longpigs, Apples in Stereo, Ocean Colour Scene. I can imagine the music aficionados nodding along with the first four suggestions and then laughing at the rest!

purpleronnie Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 Some songs that remind me of summer are Scar Tissue - RHTP - Their music always make me think of summer for some reason. No Rain - Blind Melon And even though I'm not a massive hip hop/r & b fan some old school songs like:- Hip Hop Horray, Summertime (will smith), back in the days. Anything by the beach boys. Having lived around the world I still think britain would be the perfect place to live if we had great weather.
Dr The Singh Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 Drum & Bass. What's bhangra...?? Well, i wouldn't know what he gets up to?? Yep. What's the pub called and where? Modern day bhangra is a fusion of old school bhangra (from the punjab) with western influences, including pop, rnb, hip hop, drum and bass, reggae, essentailly it's a british product, made by british sikhs in general!!! To be honest i'm a casual music listener, unfortunatley I don't have much time for music hence i'm abit behind the times per say, but I don't mind abit of dnb, there's plenty of dnb fusions with bhangra Some Bhangra dnb fusions include, dunno if there any good mind!: http://www.yourdesi.tv/view_video.php?view...dca429e7d70bc6c http://music.punjabcentral.com/song/?song=17325 I'll pnm you about saturday mate!!

purpleronnie Posted 10 March 2008 Posted 10 March 2008 I know its corny as hell but shanice - I love your smile has summer written all over it (not literally).
James. Posted 11 May 2008 Author Posted 11 May 2008 Bit premature when I started this back in March but Flynny' comment about The Bends being a great summer album reminded me of it. How about the below for some Cuban-infused Radiohead... love it! High and Dry
Jay Posted 11 May 2008 Posted 11 May 2008 I like a bit of Hip Hop in the summer like The Pharcyde, solesides, Quannum and so on BUT you can't beat some Ska on a Hot Sunny day maybe third wave The Slackers, Pietasters etc nothing better!!
