Thracian Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 I'll get off the fence. If we get out of this mess with Holloway in charge making selections like this I'll be staggered. As the commentor's just mentioned I did wonder if he'll send McAuley/Kisnorbo up front for free-kicks/corners but we just don't have the delivery and if WBA recognise the tactic they'll just hold the line high and avoid giving away corners. No reason not to hold the line, we have no-one with pace to worry about. As for the aerial bombardment again, WBA, will just push high and win the second ball. Then, if they're clever they'll play the ball fast on the floor, maintain full width, and run our old legs ragged with us having just two central midfielders and no wingers.
Nath Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 Deej, Chambers, Hume, Etuhu, Weso. Were going to hold out for 70 mins. Then as WBA are becoming more tired, enter; Etuhu Deej Hume 1-0 win.

Jack Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 We have a lot of pace on the bench and as said above if we get to 60-70 minutes with the scores still level then the game is ours for the taking. People like Deej, Hume and Etuhu who have a lot of pace will be very effective against tired legs and could work well for us and we could end up coming away with the 3 points.
lee7 Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 Who's on the bench??? campbell, hume, etuhu, wesolowski, chambers

Hayles still has legs on him. I really really wish he'd dropped Howard, but if a chance falls to his feet I'd trust him more than most to put it away, and that goes for Hayles too really. If Fryatt's in midfield that makes best use of his strengths, even though he's not used to it, and N'Gotty in the defense is always positive in a passing sense. 2-1 to us. I'll get shown up for saying that but I'm vaguely optimistic. This'll be a good game even if we lose, especially with pace on the bench if things go tits up. Most of us would have gone about this differently, but I can see his logic here.
Raj Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 And if we're 2-0 down by that stage? Then we will win 3-2!!!
Nath Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 And if we're 2-0 down by that stage? Then one of your lovers, such as Beswick, will come out of no where and score a hat trick. Miraculous

B195 Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 is anyone else struggling to get online match commentary. I usually just type in match console on google and select the match from a list but it does not seem to be working today.

The Reverend Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 Sadly thats probably his worst trait, not his best. Fryatt is playing behind the front two because he can run with the ball and take the ball past people but very rarely runs past the edge of the 18-yard box. It could (COULD) work quite nicely.Rather see Hume/Hayles or Hume/Deej up front though, I do think he's our only real goalscorer in recent years. I disagree with that, i think Hume is an intelligent footballer, makes the right runs etc.... certainly i dont think we've got many more clever than Hume... but is that a bad thing? Maybe. I still think Hume should be there. Hume has been sh*t all season. I'd be happy if he never played for Leicster again.I'm no fan of Fryatt, but he's probably thinking he has a point prove and wants to show it. He'd better not muck up his chance today. I think thats harsh, i'm not a huge fan of Hume, but he's been played out of position all season. Yes he has been shit, but come on, if he cant play there, and Holloway continues to play him there, you cant blame Hume.
Thracian Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 No, it will be Shush! Take the piss all you like. I just hope you're not laughing on the other side of your face if when the season ends we're down because we haven't scored enough goals or played enough people to provide them.
breadandcheese Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 If Fryatt's in midfield that makes best use of his strengths Personally, I don't think Fryatt is mobile enough to play in midfield. Whilst I don't doubt that he is probably our most skillful forward with some good touches, he seems a couple of pounds too heavy and very laden on his feet (bit like Huddlestone was before Ramos came in). Guess we'll see how he does. Hope he has the performance of his life.
teblin Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 Personally, I don't think Fryatt is mobile enough I think it stops there.

Fox in a Box Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 anything but a loss would be a decent return today, very different line up, fryatt in the 'scholes drop off' position... Arise king barry
breadandcheese Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 Fryatt will last 25/30 minutes in midfield. That's my fear, that in reality, we only have two men in the midfield (Hendrie and Oakley) and are heavily outnumbered at every opportunity, inviting West Brom onto us.
Thracian Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 anything but a loss would be a decent return today, very different line up, fryatt in the 'scholes drop off' position...Arise king barry Unfortunately Fryatt is no Scholes. This smacks of Holloway's approach away at Burnley with eight defenders.
STUHILL Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 Best form of Defence, is Attack!! We don't have an attacking line-up!! They score, we will have to change it!
Thracian Posted 15 March 2008 Posted 15 March 2008 Best form of Defence, is Attack!! We don't have an attacking line-up!! They score, we will have to change it! Absolutely. West Brom have had more attacks in the first eight minutes than Southampton seemed to have all evening.
