Really? I saw it on another forum and thought I'd post it. If it's a joke then it's not very funny tbf.

Not a joke as such. Ormonpops posted a decent article about it, can;t remember the details but the mistreatment wasn't anywhere near as sensationalist as it was made out to be.

In any case it IS art.

So it is a dead dog then being shown up for the world to see? Doesn't seem like art to me, seems like some sick minded individual's way of being 'different'

You are right it is art. Uncomfortable viewing though, though I suspect that was part of the point.;)

Starving a dog is art, more like killing.

Its killing an animal!!!! Maybe if it was already dead!!!!

Don't think that I am condoning this. Although you should be careful how much you believe of the story.

It is art though. Art has very loose boundaries. If I take a shit on your bed you might just think it's just a shit on a bed but if I say it is art then that's what it is.

Art doesn't have any boundaries then really...

Anything can be called art, september the 11th, martin taylors challenge on eduardo, obviously most people see art as being good things and not somebody being a total w****r.

But as you say, everything is art.

The point is not whether it's art or not but how much of the story is true. The way I read it was the artist found the dog starving in the street on the way to the exibition and took it with him. This is where accounts of the story may differ. If dogs were not allowed in the exibition then saying it was art would be one way of getting it in and looking after it. The dog would have died if left in the street anyway. nothing change there, just the when and where.

We already know that the story isn't entirely accurate. The more interesting debate is whether it can be called art or not. Clearly, I believe it can.

so many things are described as "art" ,

so conversely , what isn't art :dunno: where can a line be drawn ?

if i scratch my arse , or crap on a newspaper and push it into someone's face, can anyone give a definition that says why that is not art :dunno:

or is everything "art", but we have somehow lost the ability to discern good from bad

what "can't" be described as art , :dunno:

if someone kicks you in the bollox and claims it's art, how do you convince them it isn't ?

You can differentiate good from bad art?

I don't bloody know if its true or not! I hope it is not true.

However I am surprised that some can say that the very idea of starving an animal can be justified in the name of art. Art WOW how precious the whole concept is for you "liberals". Such an action which can be justified as art and becomes more important than a dog's life is the day when civilisation has lost all sanity.

I am going round next door in a mo as that fooker wakes me up every morning with his Nissan Skyline 3.0l engine, so I am going to douse him in petrol and set him alight just out of the curiosity of what his charred corpse will look at the moment when he died, all in the name of art, cheers ****os

Brilliant - for the second time today I can re-tell my favourite punchline.

I don't know much about art, but I know what I like...

...stock car racing.

do you know the difference between good and bad science :dunno:

art should be treated like science

why has "art" got this special status that allows anything to be considered as art , whereas science needs to be "proved" ( or at least have some grounds for acceptance )before it is considered as "science"

surely the onus is not on the observer to prove that something is not art , the onus should be on the artist to prove that it is

in actual fact there is a similarity between science and religious belief in this respect , one needs hard evidence whereas the other seemingly has no need but simply relies on a " just because it is " reasoning

Erm - Art is a subjective form of expression or aesthetics appreciation whereas Science is the systematic acquisition of knowledge or understanding of practice.

I totally miss your point.
