Guest Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Hmm, a British side in the UEFA Cup, or the chance to see two sides most have never heard of. I cannae see why ITV chose Rangers.....
dandannieldanok Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Well I for one appreciate good tactics. And I didn't really see much 'fluent football' from Fiorentina tbh, and didn't create many chances did they? I thought Fiorentina's passing was probing and searching, always trying to pick their way through a 10-man defence, and they certainly tested Alexxander more than Rangers tested Frey. Also, we won't know whether they are good tactics until the next leg, if Rangers lose then not attacking at home will have been a huge error. You have no idea how good or bad the Zenit game was so what is your point exactly? Two goals 1-1 wow must have been an awesome game I found the game to be 6 or 7 out of 10 for entertainment personally. Not the greatest but far from being a bad game. It's true I don't know what the game was like but from previous rounds Bayern and Zenit have been involved in some brilliant games and Rangers have simply played for 0-0 before, so I'm guessing it was better and I'd be surprised if I was wrong. In the end it's down to personal preference. People seem to assume I'm annoyed because it was goalless. That's wrong. What gets at me if the complete lack of ambition and quality shown by Rangers as the home team. They need'nt have gone gung-ho but one or two attacks once in a while might have added something to a disappointing affair. Fiorentina aren't great, Everton exposed that, not by playing sublime football, but by getting bodies forward and playing the direct British style. They lost the tie but that was simply down to penalties.

If that's all your after then you have it.
Joe. Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Well it's not too bad a result for Rangers really. It just means that they've got to get something at Fiorentina now where it'll be much more difficult. It could be a lot worse.
Kilworthfox Posted 24 April 2008 Author Posted 24 April 2008 They haven't won yet though, I think next week will be the end for them thankfully. They did exactly the same Vs Sporting Lisbon! Do you know how Uruguay played in the first world cup? Neither do I but they did win it, see a theme?

Guest Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 How can you not of heard of Bayern? Was I talking about myself? I don't think so, sunshine.... If people haven't ever heard of Bayern Munich then there football knowledge is very blinkered. The majority of the televisual viewing public are. 2 things you have to say about Rangers this season if you love em, hate em or are indifferent to them is that they are very resilient and effective for the talent they have in their side. People didn't complain when City were like that under MON.
Kilworthfox Posted 24 April 2008 Author Posted 24 April 2008 Fiorentina are better than Sporting Lisbon. And no I don't see a theme at all, please explain? It does not matter how you win, all that matters ( and what people remember in time is who won) Is that you win
shen Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Would love it if Zenit knicked this... I bet no-one are taking them seriously as contenders even at this stage...
Samilktray Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 To those moaning about how Rangers are winning/playing... whatever. If we play like this on Saturday and beat Sheffield Wednesday... will you be bothered? I rest my case (despite it probably being silly)

I rest my case (despite it probably being silly) Different scenario entirely. Rangers had half a team out last night through injuries and suspensions. Some of their missing players will return for the second leg. In the circumstances they may think (and McCoist's post-match interview confirmed this) that a 0-0 draw wasn't too bad. There's no way we should settle for a similar score on Saturday. If we do, our fate will probably be sealed.

I rest my case (despite it probably being silly) There is no way on earth any side would score playing like that, unless there is an own goal. You can't score when you don't have a shot on target for 90 minutes, which Rangers managed last night.

The most important thing was not to concede the away goal, giving a platform to build on in the return leg when hopefully Rangers can play a stronger side. What is your problem with that? City have done it, did you moan then? Probably not. Unless your a bitter Celtic fan, then why get so het up about it?
purpleronnie Posted 25 April 2008 Posted 25 April 2008 It would crack me up if barca win the CL and rangers win the UEFA cup.

I'm not any more a Celtic fan than Rangers but at least they have a go when they play better opposition at home. If Rangers win next week (which I don't think they will) then good for them but I simply disagree with the way they play at home. I know people completely disagree with this but that's just what I feel. And when City play like that at home I'm the biggest moaner and groaner around.

dandannieldanok Posted 25 April 2008 Posted 25 April 2008 They were missing half their team man! I'm harsh I know but there was literally no ambition which was frustrating, It is probably because I've never seen a team play so deliberately for a 0-0 at home.

Derby set out for a 0-0 every week never happens but... you can see what I am saying.
