Ultra Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Im here fella been playing cricket all day....how are you???? Pretty good thanks - been watching the rugby. Congratulations on your performance last Wednesday. The Gers fans have made the case for Scottish independence better than the SNP ever could.

The Gers fans have made the case for Scottish independence better than the SNP ever could. How did Tigers get on??? Think we all agree you get twats everywhere in the Sunday Times it said there were supporters of " Chelsea Oxford Leicester and Linfield in Manchester" And as someone who was in Manchester I can confirm there were tops and accents from all over the uk in Manchester, and on the pop

Then again the SFA has been forced to act on it, because people don't tend to leave it at the songs - they start blattering each other across the sidewalk.

You're also aware that the "terrorist" Provo / PIRA that probably fairly deserves your disdain is an entirely seperate entity and that Boys of the Old Brigade is an old Republican war song about fighting the English? If that's bigoted or racist then so is Flower of Scotland, Men of Harlech and any number of old folk songs from these islands. You're as bad as all the daft journos branding Ken Loach a traitor and a terrorist supporter for making a film about the War of Independence. You're massively clutching at straws if you think a few blokes singing a folk song is comparable to an army of some two hundred 'Gers fans charging six Manchester policemen. Do you cry every time they sing Fields of Athenry? Get some knowledge before you have a moan, sir.

Father Ted Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Two sides to every story... That's harsh. Was it a Zenit or a Rangers fan? And the Rangers fans were an absolute disgrace! I'm loving it that Rangers bottled the UEFA cup and now look like losing the title!
purpleronnie Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Yeah its was all the police's fault. The police were trying to move the fans back some weren't co-operating, not sure that really proves you're point. I'm sure there was some heavy handed police but does that justify the terrible scenes...nope.

Do you cry every time they sing Fields of Athenry? Get some knowledge before you have a moan, sir. I am knowledged on the history of Ulster by being born there and "working" out there in the 80s I have 1st hand experience, and you are right I have distain for Provo/Ira and their supporters (try doing a foot patrol in xmaglen or the falls ) with people trying to blow you up/shoot you not to!! I have no issue with celtic or their supporters what winds me up is their "romantic" ideal of the struggle...trust me it was never romantic when I was out there Its the same as any faith/religion that gloryfies violence What made me bite on this topic is the tar all Rangers fans as thugs etc,I was in Manchester and saw nothing but drunk people enjoying themselves in the sun Celtic have an element of scum as do Rangers and Leicester fans (the mass brawl in Cov before the away game is typical of Leic fans??) of course not rant over
Finnegan Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Yes, but my point is the same people that were trying to shoot at you / blow you up weren't the same people that are celebrated in the Boys of the Old Brigade. I imagine there are a minority of Celtic fans that would support the actions of the PIRA, the same as there are National Front supporting Rangers fans, and both need their heads looked at (though I would suggest the PIRA are considerably less prone to observe skin colour as a point of superiority.) But the IRA that are celebrated in songs such as the one you linked aren't the terrorists of The Troubles but those that "liberated" Ireland. And the sooner you get that out of your skull and learn to see things with a more open-minded view the sooner you can get back to accepting 90% of Celtic's support are just football fans with a love of the club's culture (which is, like it or loathe it, undeniably rooted in Ireland.)
Babylon Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 More importantly thanks to Rangers ballsing up their 9 point lead in the league i'm gonna miss out on £500.
Daggers Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Two sides to every story... Aha - but just before the first picture the bloke taunted the copper with a Powerpoint presentation about how he was going to do his mother up the arse. And just to rankle him further, he even included some of those crap Powerpoint sound effects beloved by teenagers in schools across the country. He had that shield battering coming, he really did.

Ive tried to be open minded, but I was on patrol in Belfast when the two Int corp guys drove into a republican funeral by mistake and were butchered. Doing 5 tours in Ulster gives you an insight into the conflict. So saying things like get it out of your skull is a tad patronising Try going up to the lads coming back from Afganistan and saying they should be more open minded about the Taliban!!!!! Apologises Finnegan if you have good friends that were victims of the troubles like I have

Apologises Finnegan if you have good friends that were victims of the troubles like I have You're still missing the point. I'm not saying you should be more open minded about the PIRA at all. Or the Taliban. Or, I dunno, the KKK or the BNP or the NF or, ****', I dunno the Church of Scientology, PETA, whoever. There are billions of fundamentalist organizations on the planet and I'd preach caution when putting your stock in any of them. What I'm telling you is that The Irish Republican Army of the the early 1900s was not the organization that killed your friends. And not everyone singing old rebel folk songs wants to blow up "proddies", burn everything remotely Orange and bomb half of England.
SamL Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 They're winning 2-0 away at St. Mirren which still leaves a goal difference of -5 compared to Celtic's. They've gotta hope for a miracle, I think the title will go to Celtic.

Still up for grabs. Celtic may not find it easy at Tannadice on Thursday. Craig Levein's had a decent record against the old firm this year, losing just one of the last four games (and even that was against 12 men).

That's true. Rangers are now coasting, 3-0 up at St. Mirren which leaves a goal difference of -4 compared to Celtic. Rangers have got Aberdeen away on Thursday, that's not easy either. Anything could still happen I suppose.
Daggers Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 The head of the Football Unit of the National Criminal Intelligence Service (NCIS), Superintendent Adrian Appleby, claimed that the BNP had targeted several football clubs. He identified Heart of Midlothian, Chelsea, Glasgow Rangers, Blackburn, Burnley and Oxford United. sourceHow about a picture of the Nazi-loving, sieg-heiling ****heads?

poynton blue Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 The straightforward answer is to leave Ireland When the majority want to stay British??? is that democracy It will never be a united Ireland the South dont want it ,it will cost too much, its just a romantic ideal
RedHux Posted 20 May 2008 Posted 20 May 2008 When the majority want to stay British??? is that democracyIt will never be a united Ireland the South dont want it ,it will cost too much, its just a romantic ideal Do they? Well, with facts like that it makes you wonder what all the fuss was about. You lot were there originally (not counting Cromwell etc..) to protect the Catholics and were welcomed with open arms. Saoirse to all.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 When the majority want to stay British??? is that democracy The majority being within your manufactured border? Was a single model ever put to the Irish in 1922? I sort of remember reading about a civil war breaking out...
Ultra Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Anyone who wants to know why Rangers are so reviled should check this site out. No wonder their fans are known as Scotland's shame.
