filbertway Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 I thought people were annoyed with having families all over the kop and not jsut the north stand. Have they all packed in and stopped going? The families that is.

filbertway Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 Think the point is that whilst the youngest generation are there they'll grow out of it and not bother. Just like yourself... It's all about going coalville. Away games FTW next season though when I have more funds. Home games are about as exciting as listening to JME go on about his non existant poker skills But yeh, it's weak. The new fans will keep going thoguh because this is what they're used to surely.. It'll be people in our age range that will stop going surely. Was this the point. Maybe I missed it.
Steven Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 I am always trying to get my younger brother to start supporting City but he Keeps saying the same thing "Leicester are crap" Maybe he is correct in some ways but you dont just support a team if they are doing well, i support City because i am Leicester born and bread. i hate glory supporters I am a glory supporter.
Webbo Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 Most of this thread is crap, if we were in the top 10 of the premier league we'd have plenty of young fans coming through. The reason that young fans aren't going to games is the same as why some older people aren't going to the games. a) It's expensive. b) We keep getting turned over by crappy teams like Preston. It really isn't rocket science and it has nothing to do with not being allowed to stand.

As a kid I wanted to go back to games to experience the match - not see a win. We weren't a table-topping team back in the 70's and we're not likely to be in the future either and so the solution is two-fold, reduce prices and increase the matchday experience. Currently, the dumb****s at the club have no idea how to go about the latter and no intention of doing anything but increasing the former. Crap Miss Leicester contestants, happy clapping and a five second walk-past by a man in a fox suit isn't it.

I beg to differ my son used to go to matches in the kop with about 10 mates he's now the only one that goes regularly even then it's more to keep me company and I bribe him with cheap tickets, the reason they don't go has absolutely nothing to do with crap football because i can tell you they've seen plenty of it. They don't go because they no longer enjoy the manufactured match day experience, with no standing, no unreserved areas, overly officious stewards, extortionate match day pricing, goal music, stupid announcer ironically all introduced under the disguise of making it a family friendly experience, but in reality done to control and exclude the most vocal and vociferous fans, primarily the 18 to 30 age group.

It really isn't rocket science and it has nothing to do with not being allowed to stand. Well that's not what I'm getting at really. Fact is we're not in the top ten of the Premier League, so the club have to do new things to attract the younger generation. There is no way that you can see young children aren't going because it's expensive. Under 8's get in FREE in the Family Stand and the prices for over 8's is actually quite good as well. But with the way the "matchday experience" is perceived now, when these children reach a certain age they will be alienated because of what they've become accustomed to.
davieG Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 Just to add the so called match day experience should be inclusive of all age groups; they've catered for the younger fan and probably the older fan but the 18 to 30 group are completely ostracised. The first thing they need to do is create an unreserved seating area for adults only, 16+ with no concessions and dare i say it police it with a modicum of intelligence and turn a blind eye to some standing. It's a complete waste of time suggesting they do away with the monkey music but even then I don't see that it's beyond the wit of man to play it in selected areas of the ground, say the north and west stands, they need to sit down and do a bit of lateral thinking and not look across at Derby, forest, Northampton et al and say 'well that's what they do'.

Yet again Davie, something that we spoke about with the club. It must be the least marketed area of our support, by quite some way. We've attempted to come with ideas to stop this being the case, but many were not thought of to fondly. At the end of the day with this age group a lot of the thinking comes down to the reputation of that set of fans and the risks they run should they over-market it. It's a good idea Davie to be honest, one which I hope that you forward to Peter Jones.

As Lisa will confirm the unreserved area has been suggested and dismissed out of hand, I've even asked Peter Jones why we can no longer pay on the gate and they reckon because of security but they allow away fans to do so on occasion. As for the music I can guarantee they'll say it's not possible because it goes against they're control methods. Frankly I see us more and more moving to a situation where it's the fans that are doing all the performing unfortunately just as monkeys.

What is the best way to get: Either unreserved seating or standing / Terracing in L & K? The music stopped after goals The Original PHG back? Edit: we have had votes on these before (we can again) and these are the majority results for bettering the matchday experience! The people would come back 20th in the division or not. There are people who work along side the club and for the club, what is the best way to chance club or F.A policy? Do we just continue to break the rules as we are doing? No-one is happy with that! It just causes less headlines and fuss.
Lillehamring Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 i think the reality of this finally hit home yesterday when i went to my first vålerenga home game, it was an all seater stadium (ullevål), but practically every one stood, i don't think i actually saw more than four stewards in the whole ground. and whilst the game was more exciting than any city game i've seen in years, what was most impressive was that the kids (8-14ish) were joining in with every song, and the songs! it was better than filbo, as soon as one song ended another began, and they were proper songs, not just slagging off the opposition or the ref, or mindlessly repeating a players name, ref but celebrating the club. it proved to me that what is happening at the walkers must be exactly what the club wants... the bulk of the fans in the 'kop' were 16-30 year olds, and the noise was defening.... the kids loved it - no face painting, plenty of flag and scarf waving, and NOT ONE SINGLE PIECE OF PUMPED MUSIC! SUAS et al, you would have loved it it was sublime!

Also something that they feel the majority of the fans enjoy. Mainly because they see people dancing to it. I don't personally, but many people that don't like it still dance because they feel they have to. Keep doing what you're doing with L1, we'll see what happens when the season is done, because at the moment, the club have more important things to worry about. Like putting ST prices up.

davieG Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 I don't dance either! Unless on the dance floor and then I'm a legend How do the club misread the fans so badly? They don't, the music is there to control the celebrations but introduced under the guise of atmosphere. Have you not noticed how everyone stops celebrating goals and sits down when the music stops that means they can 'legitimately get people like you to sit down much quicker than you want to, with the music lasting only seconds that's exactly what they want - fans sitting down and clapping to piped music. It wont be long before the occurance of music is increased someone will be sat in an ivory tower controlling the crowd, it'll be case of let's get the crowd clapping cue clapping music.

purpleronnie Posted 30 March 2008 Posted 30 March 2008 I still don't understand why we have music after the goals surely the noise from the fans after scoring is a huge part of the atmosphere but its drowned out by this stupid music. Does anyone know why we have it? I emailed leicester about it and they said it was the managers idea to have Chelsea dagger when I replied asking them whether the manager was asked if he wanted music played after a goal they didnt reply.
