Jonbluefox9 Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I doubt I was the only person at the match yesterday afternoon who saw Richard Stearman's reaction after the final whistle. What did those who saw it make of it? Personally I thought he looked pathetic. Slumped on the ground as if relegation had been confirmed there and then, picked up by McAuley only to slump back to the ground moments later, the last player out on the pitch clapping the fans with his chin on his chest and then walking towards the tunnel dragging his feet and swinging his arms. I'm not a Stearman-hater so this isn't just a dig because it's him, I just don't like to see our players acting as if it's all over and they've got no fight left in them.
Samilktray Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 You'd much rather the players were happy they'd just dropped valuable points to us in our battle against relegation to the team bottom of the league who are already down?
Koke Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 He looked like he was the only who really cared. He's a local lad and a City fan and you could see on his face and body language that it really hurts him as much as it hurts us.
filbertway Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I'd say that's a good reaction, as people say, it shows he cares and he realises how bad that was to drop 2 vital points and how bad it could hurt is come the end of the season.
Simi Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I know what you mean Jon. I'm pretty sure that everyone that's watched Leicester over the last few weeks would agree that he is one of the only people that cares. But, to me, it looked like he just wanted to make a point that he cared by dragging his feet along the floor and kicking the grass. Perhaps a little put on, but I've no doubt he is hurting inside.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 13 April 2008 Author Posted 13 April 2008 I don't doubt he cares and I don't doubt that he's a City supporter but I don't like to see body language that suggests we're down when the season's not through yet. He can sit on the pitch at the Britannia Stadium and cry his heart out if we're down, then he can make a move to a Championship or Premiership club knowing he gave his all until the end...
Daggers Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 What did those who saw it make of it? Totally the opposite to you.
Naboo Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 The lad's should have more hunger and anger at dropping points to Colchester. Not slumping around on the floor like an absolute gaylord. Get a grip FFS!!

Filberts lovechild Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I'm sorry but Stearman was shite from start to finish yesterday so he only has himself to blame!
filbertboy Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I'm sorry but Stearman was shite from start to finish yesterday so he only has himself to blame! Clearly you went to a different game to me. Thought he was good and there is no doubt his reaction is due to the hurt he feels mainly because this is his home town club. Just a pity some others dont have same passion as our local lad.
lildave3 Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I'm sorry but Stearman was shite from start to finish yesterday so he only has himself to blame! I thought he was one of our best players yesterday if i'm honest.
i luv u foxes Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 his leicester thru and thru he always gives his all and is very passionate about the club dont blame him to be dissapointed about dropping points at home to a team thats down
davieG Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 He must have felt like me then but I don't feel we're down yet and I'll be up and ready for the next game. I'd have been more pissed off if he'd have skipped off (gaylord style ) with out a thought to where we currently stand. Maybe after giving his all he was knackered and more than just a bit dissappointed I doubt anger would have helped much either. Personally I think he's always shown he cares, he's had a patchy season but in comparison to almost everyone else that's probably makes him one of the best. I'm confident that his performances will improve and become more consistent when he's got 10 other players that match him.
Jack Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I thought he was one of our best players yesterday if i'm honest. Me too. In fact I think he has been on of our best players all season. You can clearly see that he is passionate about the club, being as he is a local lad as well. I don't think there is anything wrong with him being dissapointed and upset by not taking all 3 points against the bottom side who are already relegated. I just wish some of the other players would show as much passion as this.
cattyfox Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Personally I thought he looked pathetic. . You prefer the reaction of the others? The ones who week in, week out look as if they are taking our money without even attempting to earn it?? Stearman is the only one who cares, who is bothered and it shows. He single handly tries to raise the effort of men far more experienced than himself He's 20 How would Walsh have reacted at that age? Give him the captaincy
Rocky Dennis Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I think too many people bang on about how he cares for the club, he's passionate blah blah blah. FFS, its his job!! He gets paid thousands of pounds to play football for his hometown club, passion and desire to do well for us should be mandatory. Dont make him out to be such a hero for being upset, the reason we're in this mess is as much his fault as any other of the players. I agree he's improving as a player but he gives the ball away far too much, only has a big hoof down the line, and tries too many Cruyff turns. Im absolutely certain he wasnt as upset as me at the defeat. draw.

Which I haven't. Welcome Pussy-features.
Simi Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Me too.In fact I think he has been on of our best players all season. No sorry! There is no way in the world that you're having that! Before Christmas he was absolutely woeful. Couldn't keep the ball on the floor, he was getting skinned left right and centre by wingers! So many other things as well which I care not to remind myself of again. He has improved yes, a lot. But player of the season is a stretch to far for the lad.

Candidcamera Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 At the end of the game we had them under pressure. In fact had we played with half that energy throughout we would have walked it. Stearman do you think was genuinely upset at not winning - I was.
