shen Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 No sorry! There is no way in the world that you're having that! Before Christmas he was absolutely woeful. Couldn't keep the ball on the floor, he was getting skinned left right and centre by wingers! So many other things as well which I care not to remind myself of again. He has improved yes, a lot. But player of the season is a stretch to far for the lad. He did say "one of the players of the season". Elvis all the way though!
Master Fox Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Richard Stearman in three words: Pathetic gormless tw*t.
Daggers Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Richard Stearman in three words: Pathetic gormless tw*t. So, is that a 'yes' or a 'no' for Player of the Season?
DB11 Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 So, is that a 'yes' or a 'no' for Player of the Season? I'd put him down as a maybe
Rt Hon Percy Longprong Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I'm sorry but Stearman was shite from start to finish yesterday so he only has himself to blame! is there one L or two L's in Bollocks ?
maddog Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I thought he was putting it on. Although i am a Stearman hater
Master Fox Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 So, is that a 'yes' or a 'no' for Player of the Season? Guess that puts him number 1 on my list
Narborough Bod Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Me too.In fact I think he has been on of our best players all season. You can clearly see that he is passionate about the club, being as he is a local lad as well. I don't think there is anything wrong with him being dissapointed and upset by not taking all 3 points against the bottom side who are already relegated. I just wish some of the other players would show as much passion as this. He was dross at the start of the season but seemed to have an epiphany under holloway and has improved no end since christmas. I have no doubt he will be giving it his all over the next 3 games. Maybe he's dejected knowing that he is giving it his best at the moment whilst their are others who don't seem to be doing as much for the cause as him??? It's good for him to be down / dejected at 2 lost points. It is down to Ollie to pick him up and get him going again, he is paid to manage.
FleckneyFox Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I think hes just desperate for us to do well he puts 110% into every game. At least he does that once the game is finished. Howard mopes about like that for 90 minutes

But player of the season is a stretch to far for the lad. A lot of that was down to playing wing-back and not seeming to like the position one bit. Pre-Megson he looked competent enough at right-back (though to be honest I'm basing all of that on his 30 minutes against Blackpool) and he only had one or two bad games for Holloway. Playing well from December to May (assuming he carries that on) is far better than any of our other players have managed.

The wing back situation didn't help, but when we reverted back to 4-4-2 I can remember him been just as bad. Although you could probably put that down to needing to readjust to the posistion. Depends how harsh you want to be towards Stearman I suppose. But under Holloway, he has certainly bucked his ideas up. Fair play to him, Holloway as well. That's one thing he has done very well, sadly it hasn't rubbed off on the rest of the players yet, however. I still think player of the season wouldn't be the right way to reward Stearman, however, his maturity has impressed me, along with the passion. If he's here next season, I wouldn't begrudge him the armband.
Guest lcfc80 Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 stearman was one of the best young prospects around, trouble was he believed he had done it all and became a big head and tought he was a class above everyone else
Filberts lovechild Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 [/b]Clearly you went to a different game to me. Thought he was good and there is no doubt his reaction is due to the hurt he feels mainly because this is his home town club. Just a pity some others dont have same passion as our local lad. Clearly so. I lost count of the amount of times he lost the ball for us yesterday and right at the start of the game nearly let one of the strikers through! I'm not doubting his passion he's obviously a supporter of the club and he tries his best, I just don't think he had the best of games yesterday in my opinion!
Rocky Dennis Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Just to be pedantic: It wasn't a defeat. We drew! Cheers, Im so upset still, i forgot we drew!!
shiv Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I doubt I was the only person at the match yesterday afternoon who saw Richard Stearman's reaction after the final whistle. What did those who saw it make of it? Personally I thought he looked pathetic. Slumped on the ground as if relegation had been confirmed there and then, picked up by McAuley only to slump back to the ground moments later, the last player out on the pitch clapping the fans with his chin on his chest and then walking towards the tunnel dragging his feet and swinging his arms. I'm not a Stearman-hater so this isn't just a dig because it's him, I just don't like to see our players acting as if it's all over and they've got no fight left in them. i was sulking for a while after the game cos i'm a leicester fan the guy's a lifelong leicester fan so cut him some slack!
Legend_in_blue Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 I wouldn't like to single out any individuals who were either 'pathetic' or 'passionate' but, collectively as a team, the body language looked all wrong for me as they came out for the second half. We needed that get up and go attitude we saw in the final 5 right from the start, but didn't get it. Not good enough. When do we ever take the initiative against teams at home? You're playing against mugs and you still can't manage it.
Messi Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 i was sulking for a while after the game cos i'm a leicester fanthe guy's a lifelong leicester fan so cut him some slack! Totaly Agree Plus, he knows how important this club is to people and he his hurting more than any other player out there so obviously he is going to be upet
Guest lcfc80 Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 anyone remember the abuse simon grayson got in the season M'O'N got us promoted he didn't play that bad either that season
Jonbluefox9 Posted 13 April 2008 Author Posted 13 April 2008 I just don't like seeing negative body language. Thank the fans for their support, get in the changing rooms, mope about for a bit in there if you have to then dust yourself down and look to the next match. I think McAuley was right to get him on his feet as soon as he saw him because body language is an important part of sport. Just look at Gallas' reaction after the Birmingham game. That was a shocking way of behaving when you're a skipper. I don't particularly blame Stearman for acting the way he did, it's just a shame we haven't got a strong enough character in the team to pull him to his feet, have a word in his ear and get his chin-up straight away.
clazkel Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 Passionate, he seems to care! Whoeva was at Sheffield Utd would've seen the passion Stearman had as he seemed to lose it after they got the dodgey penalty, his discipline went and i believe it was because he wanted to win!!!
Leicester_Mad Posted 13 April 2008 Posted 13 April 2008 he stayed on the pitch to hear the results, was gutted to hear we are fooked and is a local lad. Those that call him pathetic are just twats.
ozleicester Posted 14 April 2008 Posted 14 April 2008 There is just no pleasing some people, from what ive heard over the last few months..Stearman has been a leading light in the side...and the fact that the guy actually CARES enough to be dejected...something im very happy to hear. Its up to the club to lift him for next weeks game and hope he performs as well as he can. For all those people here who say the players are just turning up for the money...then Stearman shoes the passion and emotion and people whinge. FFS...get up...support the team...support the kid, when we make the premier league...he will be a hero of the club. I dont care what you say...CITY ARE STAYING UP !!!
