act smiley Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 How is a club getting to within 5 minutes of bankruptcy less important than Wes Brown's new contract?
SamL Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 Rotherham United's administrator Jeremy Bleazard has said the beleaguered League Two outfit must find a buyer by 1700 BST on Friday or face liquidation. The club owe hundreds of thousands of pounds to the Inland Revenue, reports BBC Radio Sheffield. Former directors Dino Maccio and Alan Cartledge are reportedly ready to submit a rescue bid and they have a deal to keep the club at Millmoor. The Millers are scheduled to host Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday. The club received a 10-point penalty in March when they entered administration for the second time in three seasons. Millers manager Mark Robins told BBC Radio Sheffield: "A lot of people care deeply about this club. "We've got to get things sorted out and resolved as quickly as possible." Rotherham said they owed the money to the Inland Revenue because of falling attendances, as well as a smaller than expected insurance claim for summer flood damage. The club had previously been saved from liquidation in the summer of 2006 when creditors backed a Company Voluntary Agreement. They were also then hit with a 10-point penalty, which eventually cost them their League One status when they were relegated last season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...utd/7354203.stm I really hope they've managed to find a buyer, if not it'll be a very sad day for football. It's never nice to see a club going out of business.
Leicester Lass Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 Same as Sam really, will be horrible to see them go out of business. I remember when they were first in administration and they were doing bucket collections outside the Walkers
isaidno Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 The Chuckle Brothers will come in with a last minute bid to save them
SamL Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 It's a shame that footballs dictated so much by money. Some Premiership footballers earn £100,000+ a week whereas some clubs are going out of business because they owe that much. It's such a shame.
Floating Fox Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 ****ing disgracefull that is. I don't give a **** if Wes Brown has signed a new contract...Show you how over hyped and dominating the premiership is and how it'll ruin the English game..

Ruined the English game, although that's not really the cause of Rotherham's impending demise.
Floating Fox Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 Ruined the English game, although that's not really the cause of Rotherham's impending demise. I don't know how Rotherham ended up how they are now, but if they're was more money trickling down from the rapist's at the top then I doubt they'd be going bust.
filbertway Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 I don't know how Rotherham ended up how they are now, but if they're was more money trickling down from the rapist's at the top then I doubt they'd be going bust. And there's no need to bring RVP into this.

SamL Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 Press Release - Rotherham United FCThe Administrator of Rotherham United has confirmed that a number of formal offers have been received from prospective purchasers by today's 5pm deadline. Administrator Jeremy Bleazard, of XL Business Solutions, said "I am very encouraged that a number of bids have come in and I will spend the next couple of days considering each one on its merits. I hope to begin formal discussions with a 'preferred' bidder early next week. " Bleazard went on to confirm that the bids do not at this stage commit any of the prospective buyers to begin funding the club and that it is vital that supporters get behind the various fund raising efforts not to mention go along to tomorrow's game. He stated "Though this is good news our cash flow still does not allow me to pay the full amount of the player's or staff wages. I cannot stress enough how important our need for funds still is and hope that everyone does not simply assume that everything will now be alright". http://www.themillers.premiumtv.co.uk/page...1292992,00.html Things are looking up thankfully.
Father Ted Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 How is a club getting to within 5 minutes of bankruptcy less important than Wes Brown's new contract? Wes Brown is S*it! The Chuckle Brothers will come in with a last minute bid to save them Wouldn't surprise me
lildave3 Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 Wes Brown is S*it! Wouldn't surprise me I beg to differ.
Daggers Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 I beg to differ. When it looks as though you are on your knees I guess there's not much else you can do...
lavrentis Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 I beg to differ. True but he looks like an orange.
LeeCovFox Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 True but he looks like an orange. Is he a natural ginger? I wasn't aware that black people could be ginger. Surely nobody would do that to themselves deliberatley though?
Corky Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 I desperately hope they survive, I went to Rotherham for a match in 2003 (where we nearly got promoted) and their fans were very complimentary towards us. No set of fans deserve their club to be taken away from them, and I've a lot of time for Mark Robins as well, always liked him when he was at Filbert Street. Best of luck to the Millers
Father Ted Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 Is he a natural ginger? I wasn't aware that black people could be ginger. Surely nobody would do that to themselves deliberatley though? He is half-cast I think
Koke Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 Wes Brown is mixed raced. But he's such an average player.
Ultra Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 £60k/week is an awful lot to warm the bench, which is what he'll be doing next season when Gary Neville's fit again.
Sods Posted 18 April 2008 Posted 18 April 2008 What a twat Chris O Grady is as well. I don't know the full picture but my word hes a having a laugh ent he?
