Master Fox Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 I'll take that bet up with you sir. Nothing fancy, just a pint of champagne to the winner. Now there is a crap striker. I'm still waiting for my winnings on the Fryatt bet Mr Flair.....
Ric Flair Posted 13 May 2008 Author Posted 13 May 2008 I'm still waiting for my winnings on the Fryatt bet Mr Flair..... What was that bet? I have a horrible feeling I declared him to be playing for England by now, please tell me it was something sensible?
Master Fox Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 What was that bet? I have a horrible feeling I declared him to be playing for England by now, please tell me it was something sensible? 15+ goals last season.
The People's Hero Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 What else did you expect him to do this season? He has scored 11 goals, most from midfield in a dire team. For the 100th time, nobody is saying he's a world beater, but he's a good solid Championship player and is far better than anyone in L1. If a manager uses him the right way Hume can get you 15+ goals in the Championship, never mind League One. Getting rid of ALL the playing staff is not the way forward. We have a few half decent players and we need to retain those and get rid of the rest. I can guarantee you that if Hume leaves for a Championship side, he'll become a valuable addition to the squad he's joining. Again, the lad is not a world beater or anything, but he's a good player. I'm not saying get rid of him, I'm saying a) He's over-rated. b) I couldn't care less about him. He is mediocre. c) I don't understand why so many people are do protective/defensive over this issue. d) He's likely to move on anyway. Besides which, everyone acted this way when Joey Gudjonsson went. He scored a few goals and spent the rest of all his matches getting needless bookings, trying ambitious shots, giving the ball away and refusing to play the simple ball. There was outrage when he left. He's gone on to be rubbish since elsewhere!

I'm just pretty sure that if he moves on, he'll be a lot more successful than Gudjohnson.

Leicester fans are suckers for players who try ambitious things ALL the time when there are often better options available.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 He's one of my favourite players, mainly because he's quite exciting to watch and he does seem to try harder than some, but that doesn't mean he's particularly effective a lot of the time, and I personally he'd struggle to get into a lot of Championship sides. He's done alright recently but since he's been here he's had long spells of not contributing very much at all. He looks good because so many of our players look crap. I'd keep him given the choice because he's undoubtedly one of our better players (although that's not saying much) but I'm not sure why people talk about him as if he's someone we should build our side around
The People's Hero Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 Bellend Sebastien. Good post. We're going to have a cracking time in this Lighthouse.
Ric Flair Posted 13 May 2008 Author Posted 13 May 2008 £200 But I'd settle for a beer. I'll happily get you a beer next season mate.
Joe. Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 I wouldn't begrudge Hume if he chose to leave this summer. He's been wasted by Holloway this season on the wing and I could understand if he didn't want another season like that in League One. Hume's a huge part of the team, mainly because he's one of the only ones who gives it their all and has some ability to go with it. He's consistently shown that he can produce the goods, even in a failing team. So personally I'd have no doutbs whatsoever that he could score regular goals in League One if he was still here and was played in the right position. I really do hope he stays. He's one of the few players that has come away from our last three seasons with any sort of credit and we need to hold onto players like him if we want to get out of League One next year. Sadly I think he'll leave. He's certainly at least Championship quality.
Finnegan Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 I think the majority of you need to stop rising to Master Fox's baiting. He's after an e-argument and you're giving it to him. But I think a lot of people need to stop overhyping a player simply for being the best of a bad bunch. You build a team by getting rid of your worst players and keeping hold of your better ones, that's progress. So yes I'd be disappointed to see Hume go because there's far worse in our squad. He'll also be playing at about his level in League One and we're somewhat delusional if we think better players than him are just going to queue up to play for Leicester. I wouldn't encourage any manager to build an entire team around a solitary player, no matter who he was, I think that's a negative attitude to take. But I'd like to see Hume playing next year and I imagine he will do, too.

Master Fox Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 No doubt it's me that's being the arsehole again. No, he was here earlier. Peek time down Market Street so he had to fly. No e-arguments over here.
The People's Hero Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 Finners, I love you man! Can we do the Safety Dance together?
Finnegan Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 Can we do the Safety Dance together? Saturday. Center circle. Mid-game. They won't know what hit them.

Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 I don't think it would be a disaster if Hume left but i think we need to try & keep our better players together & he certainly falls in to that category. I think Hume has done pretty well during his time here & if we can finally get 11 players together who like to pass it around on the deck quickly (King, Weso, Porter, Hume etc) we should see the best of him. He is guilty of being overambitious sometimes & does lose the ball when there are easier options on. However, some of the creative things he tries only look shit because the others in the team are too brain-dead to read them or gamble on making a run once in while. Also, when he does lose the ball, he invariably wins it straight back. I don't think we should slate a player for trying to instill some creativity & attacking instinct in the side. Having said all this, I'm sure we would be able to find a decent replacement if he left, which is something we may well have to face soon enough.
The People's Hero Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 Don't worry - the FOXES TRUST will be along soon to tell us what we should all think anyway!
Molson Canadian Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 He doesn't want to leave. He is willing to stay and help the team come back up next season, but it is true he hates that idiot of a manager we have right now who kept playing him in that high wide right position, he still played his heart out for the team and gave it his all every game he is the type of player every club needs getting rid of him would be a big mistake. Hopefully the fans can continue to chant HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMEEEEEE next season. He has a friendly game coming up at the end of month in Seattle with the Canadian national team against Brazil i'm sure the canadian media will be asking him his personal opinions about his situation he is never afraid to speak his mind so we will get a good idea of what he thinks then.
