Jimmy Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 People doing that is not a reason to hate the player though. Not that i'm implying you hate the player, I don't know your stance on this. I don't hate him, I just don't think he is as good as he's made out to be, doesn't score enough goals, isn't disciplined enough and sulked, publically when he was moved out of a striking role

Mikey Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 I'd just like to place on record my gratitude towards Iain Hume in the past 3 seasons. He's been here at a time when the club has gone through the worst period it's ever gone through, but Hume has been probably the only player worth his salt in that time. He has got his weaknesses, but he's consistently come up with the goods when others haven't and I wish him all the best at his next club.If Holloway stays, which it increasingly looks like he is, then Hume is off. No question. Holloway wants him out and Hume's not keen on Worzel either. So cheers Humey, some of your goals have made these piss stained 3 seasons a little more bearable. If Gradel joins you out of the door, then is there room for a pissed up fan as well? All the best, Iain. You will be missed, even if Master Fox won't admit it. Yup, good post. Hume has kept us afloat these past years. So if you go Humey, cheers for the memories and the goals. Especially the two V Southampton at home last season.

Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 As far as I'm concerned, Hume is one of the best players we've got. He always gives 100%, chases back to win the ball whenever he gives it away, wins headers that he has no right to and possesses the touch & vision of a quality player. Ok he should maybe get a few more goals but he has still been our top scorer in each of the last 3 seasons & considering the type of hoofball we have often been playing and the lack of creativity in midfield plus the fact that he has, this season, found himself out of position, this is the best we should have expected. I think he is well capable of becoming a 20 goal-a-season man in a better team with players who read the game properly & have some desire to go forward & attack at pace, especially in League 1. In some ways I feel sorry for him because despite his efforts he will always get labelled as one of those money-grabbing useless bastards that took us down from the Championship. His talents have been wasted here lately and I'm sure he would be fulfilling his potential in a better team that plays proper football. I'm not claiming that he's Ronaldo but when compared to rubbish like Steve Howard it is infuriating to see Hume played out of position & wasted when he could have been up front scoring the goals that Howard never had in him!!! also I get pissed off when people moan about him getting HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUME every time he touches the ball, whether he loses it or not. This gets on my nerves as well but its hardly his fault. He's not the one starting the chant and I don't see how that can be used as a criticism of the player when its clearly the fault of the fans if anyone should be blamed!!! Rant over!!! my apologies to anyone who managed to read the whole thing but at least its out o my system now
Koke Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 He is part of the shite, right in the middle of it, probably the smelliest part of it. I want Hume's babies.
lildave3 Posted 12 May 2008 Posted 12 May 2008 When did you turn yorkshire? When Ramp violated me. What about me? There's still time.
Ric Flair Posted 13 May 2008 Author Posted 13 May 2008 He is a slag of a player a self absorbed little toerag. How terms like legend can be bandied about when he only ever played in the relegation area of the Championship is beyond me. His work ethic never even got close to that of Trevor Benjamin and Ade Akinbiyi who both played and scored at a much higher level, by the way.His poisonous influence won't be missed one bit by anyone at the Walkers. People harp on about players like Howard and co being a waste of cash this muppet cost is 750,000 when we have had bugger all from him. If you want to keep the manjuicefest going then you are doing a real disservice to players in the past who have given and delivered so much more to Leicester City than Iain Hume. " It ate me fags man, so I hooyed it in the sea " Goober.
RowlattsFox Posted 13 May 2008 Posted 13 May 2008 I don't think Hume has worked has hard this season as he has in previous seasons, when you do see him chasing back its probably because he has lost the ball trying to do to much. I like Hume, he is no doubt one of our better players but that isn't saying much. I'm also not convinced he will score 20 goals next season if he stays with us. Hume's problem when he is playing upfront is that he takes up wrong positions, we don't get many crosses into the box but when we do Hume is often standing outside the box waiting for the ball to come out, you're a striker FFS. However in the last few games after his return from injury he seemed to be playing on the shoulder of the defenders a lot more. Maybe Holloway is improving his game afterall? In most cases playing a striker on the wing would be seen as a positive move and I think Hume could have played the position better than he did, he has the work-rate to get involved with the strikers and then chase back into position. Jonathon Walters played on the wing for Ipswich a fair bit this season but still scored a lot of goals. Also, Holloway isn't the only manager who has played Hume on the wing this season, he played their under Allen and the chances are that he could have played a lot of games at right mid if Allen stayed. Hume is kind of inbetween positions, if he wants to be a striker then he needs to start acting like one.

Hume is kind of inbetween positions, if he wants to be a striker then he needs to start acting like one. Iain Hume has had his worst season for over 4 years as a footballer and still scored 11 goals, playing in midfield for half of the season. That tells you that the boy has quality when he has a poor season but still chips in with a decent tally of goals given the circumstances. Iain Hume is better when he plays off the shoulder of defenders and he did this under Rob Kelly to decent success. It's when he's asked to play a more withdrawn role or when the team struggles and he decides to try and take it to the opposition on his own when he becomes less effective. There is a tendency with Hume and for managers to play him elsewhere, but it's proven that he wills core goals if he's played up front. As for your comment about him not being in the box when crosses come in, there are bigger culrpits than Hume, but I do think he could get in there more often. When he does find space in the box he has been known to score. Also, the sign of a natural striker is being good at scoring from one on ones situations and that's something Hume is good at over any striker we've had here in recent seasons. He'll be missed, but I don't blame him for going if he does as Holloway doesn't like him anyway.
