andyh1884 Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 LinkSky Sports Link At least there's some consistency in the treatment of teams if they get the same punishment as Leeds for doing the same thing. Still pretty harsh though
Tilley Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 LinkSky Sports Link Absolutely sickening. They are in financial ruins so they give them a 10 point deduction, & get them relegated to League Two. & then, after that. They make them start next season on -15. I will be very suprised it Luton Town Football Club makes it to August. & if they do, they will soon be in the conference. What a shame, they were a bloody good side under Mike Newell.
purpleronnie Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Teams like luton always survive, but it will be tough, doubt they will go down though.
Tilley Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Teams like luton always survive, but it will be tough, doubt they will go down though. I can see them being the next Wimbledon. Re-named, Re-located, etc.
Corky Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 You have to feel sorry for the supporters. Two consecutive relegations, a 10-point deduction last year and now a 15-point deduction this time around. No fan in the world deserves to go through all that.
LeeCovFox Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Odds on them going into the conference? Bearing in mind that Mick Harford has gone on record as saying he intends to strip the squad bare and begin again with youngsters, I'd imagine they are in for a hell of a struggle. I feel for them. I've always liked them as a club, and I like Mick Harford as a coach. Their fans may well witness their club fall into the Conference after only leaving the top flight in 1992. A stark warning indeed.
act smiley Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Luton will survive this and to be fair, if Leeds got their points for the same thing, its only fair that other teams that utilise the same rules do as well. Their takeover's gone through and while they're extremely unlikely to do a Leeds-style charge to the playoffs they should be able to stay up and aren't likely to collapse completely like Halifax did the other day. Shows that the FA should have looked into the issues surrounding the Inland Revenue's rejection of CVAs and tried to resolve the issue for the future, rather than just let things happen, though. Its depressing that teams are going out of business and into administration all over the place yet all we ever hear is about how great football is these days because teams at the top are loaded.
SamL Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 It's very harsh but the rules have been imposed. You can't help what the rules are so have to abide by them. Good luck to them next season.
Corky Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Things are now looking up for Luton Town. On the 22nd of July they entertain the mighty Leicester City
Simi Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Without clicking the link, is the further penalty having to play us pre-season?
Floating Fox Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 The FA are a ****ing disgrace. Twats the lot of them.
lavrentis Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 The FA are a ****ing disgrace. Twats the lot of them. Too right, very harsh. I think it's an utter disgrace and I can only feel sorry for everyone associated at Luton Town Football Club.
Webbo Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 The FA are a ****ing disgrace. Twats the lot of them. Did you think it was a disgrace when it happened to Leeds? Steps have to be taken to stop clubs living beyond their means, it'll be good for football on the whole in the long run.
Jay Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 Did you think it was a disgrace when it happened to Leeds?Steps have to be taken to stop clubs living beyond their means, it'll be good for football on the whole in the long run. the entire Leeds thing was more of a disgrace and stunk BIG STYLE!!! The way Ken Bates had agreed to buy the club back even before they went into administration was a disgrace and so underhand it was untrue but you can't punish one without the other as they say Luton have no money and are on the verge of closure the Football League should be helping them pull through and not knocking the first nail into their coffins!!
BrockwellFox Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 apparently not confirmed yet - linky - but the fa will have to apply the same punishment to luton as they did to leeds or risk looking even worse. couldn't find any confirmation but is it due to the inland revenue not agreeing to the CVA?
placidcasual Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 The FA are a ****ing disgrace. Twats the lot of them. That may well be the case. But what the does the FA have to do with this? It is the Football League who are deducting the points.......
Floating Fox Posted 14 May 2008 Posted 14 May 2008 That may well be the case. But what the does the FA have to do with this? It is the Football League who are deducting the points....... Both of them then. For starters their should be more put in place to stop arsebags getting in charge of football clubs, like Luton had, and the only people who end up getting ****ed over are the fans, the only ones who stand by a football club.
