Finnegan Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to raid his homeland, France for three players to make up for the loss of Mathieu Flamini. Wenger has identified Lille midfielder Jean Makoun, St-Etienne right-back Mahamadou Dabo and Marseille's Samir Nasri. (Sunday Telegraph) Apparently still the next big thing? Haven't heard anyone hyping the lad for a while, but it'd be interesting to see him under the wings of Wenger.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Makoun has great stats on FM but never lives up to them when I sign him. ****ing hell I'm bored.
Uncle Albert Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Only seen him play once against Liverpool and he had to come on because they were so crap. He wasnt even fully fit and they had to put him on so they must think highly of him in France. Whats his actual position?

Matt Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Ah, Arsene Wenger going against the grain of his usual signings then. ...More French?!
Koke Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 I'm one of Nasri's biggest fan but Manwell thinks the lad is a sack of shit. Look out for him in the Euros.
Bryn Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 It's a shame Benzema has declared himself loyal to Lyon, he'd be excellent for Arsenal if they were willing to splash the £20m needed to get him. I know that's not their style but he'd have been great for them.

I know that's not their style but he'd have been great for them. Wenger is a tight arsed ****. I can't blame him for being careful with his money, but if he really wants his hands on the big eared European trophy then he needs someone of the quality of Benzema. And players like him don't come cheap.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Nasri certainly has potential but his performances haven't really merited the hype this season. Unfortunately when a young player shows a few glimpses of what they can do they are immediately labelled with a tag, putting pressure on them. I believe Nasri's was "The New Zidane", just like every Argentinian is labelled "The next Maradona". He's also been overshadowed by the two Lyon kids, Benzema and Ben Arfa.
Uncle Albert Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 I dont think Nasri will be as good as everyone says he will be especially if the lad comes to the Premier League. The position that Nasri plays is a position that young players struggle with in the Premier League for some reason. He would be much better off in the Spanish League.

Depends whether or not he plays a bit deeper so he can create (Fabregas) or push forward, almost as a secondary striker (Tevez).
BoneHead. Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Clearly got talent if YouTube is anything to go by, Arsenal clearly need that hard man in the middle like Chelsea have Essien and Liverpool have Mascherano, anyone like Makoun or YaYa Toure would be awesome for them.
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 I'm one of Nasri's biggest fan but Manwell thinks the lad is a sack of shit. Look out for him in the Euros. ...... I didn't say that, I said he was definitley not the next Zidane as some have suggested.
The Reverend Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 From what i've seen, he looks a talent, but is being massively overhyped.
Finnegan Posted 19 May 2008 Author Posted 19 May 2008 Apparently it's Aquilani they want now. Saw him playing in the Champions League this year, looked pretty decent.
Tommy G Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 I would love to see Karim Benzema in the prem ahead of Nasri. But if we're lucky then perhaps both..
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Apparently it's Aquilani they want now. Saw him playing in the Champions League this year, looked pretty decent. Aquilani is awesome. Will get better as well.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 19 May 2008 Posted 19 May 2008 Aquilani is awesome. Will get better as well. Is Aquilani the one with the leathal shot?
Koke Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 Nas is signing for Arsenal today for £12.5 million. He was apparently seen in a take away shop in Islington according to me mate
Koke Posted 21 May 2008 Posted 21 May 2008 ...... I didn't say that, I said he was definitley not the next Zidane as some have suggested. The French international, hailed by many as the new Zinedine Zidane, has been linked with a move to the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus over the past two years. I know what you mean, but they say the same thing about every kid that comes out of France, Argentina or Brazil - Pablo Aimar anyone?
Tilley Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Not sure Arsenal need a attacking midfielder, When I've seen them play, They need a central defender & need to get rid of Senderos because he is never going to make the grade, & Gallas hasn't been as good as expected. With Flamini & Gilberto out the door, they need a central midfield, a class one, because if they get the right man in, alongside Fabregas, Arsenal would be quality. Walcott needs to play next season, regularly. Maybe on the right hand side? If not, then a right winger is probably needed, because Eboue is crap! Van Persie will hopefully become fully fit and get back to his best, Adebayour can pick up where he left off, Eduardo may be back by Crimbo, & they have Carlos Vela finally been given a work permit. Nicklas Bendtner needs ot be shown the door too. They also need a natural left winger, Hleb will more than likely leave, & Diaby & Rosicky aren't left wingers, They need a Pires like player, but it is all a question of whether Wenger is prepared to splash the cash. I wouldn't be suprised to see Yaya Toure join Arsenal in the summer, Barca are set for a clear out & Yaya has spoke of his desire to play with his brother at Arsenal. Wenger needs to spend big & win something, else question will be asked come the end of next season.
Uncle Albert Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Possibly just another Malouda? Malouda is better in my opinion.
